Thanks for the reviews so far, it makes me really happy.
Disclamer: Only the plot is mine, the characters belong to Man Of Action
Epilogue
When she woke up it was 2pm.
"Great" she thought as she stood up, hitting her head with Beverly's bed.
"Ouch!" she rubbed her head and finally moved the blankets. She went to the bathroom to take a quick shower before go back to work, her so tedious work.
She came out wearing her usual black outfit, her hair tied up in her formal bun at the top of her head. She went downstairs to eat something before going. It would be a long day.
Hot coffee, a sandwich with cheese, tomato and lettuce and some fruit that was all she ate. Her mind was distracted of the food, she was still thinking on what had happened just a few hours ago.
It looked like a dream, well, actually it was a nightmare. She did remember everything, although she wished she didn't, but everything looked blurry. Definitely alcohol had made its effect, her head was slightly pounding, but that could be for the hit she gave herself when she woke up.
Whatever it was, it didn't matter; her heart was still broken for what had happened, and even her eyes looked dull. All her strength and determination had vanished from her. She had lost everything.
Everything.
She finished her breakfast and decided to leave, she didn't bother in clean up, she would do it later; she had no intention of sleeping on the same roof with him.
She arrived for 3pm.
What she exactly had to do was keep killing her mind thinking on where Breach could have send Rex and how exactly bring him back. She had started checking in the pass, maybe she had sent him to change the future, she thought. But check in the past was not an easy thing, he could be anywhere! Definitely she would have to find another way of track him aside searching in books and registers.
She was reading some papers that were in her desk when the door opened.
She didn't turn around to see who it was because she didn't even heard the silent footsteps of someone coming in her lab.
It was Six.
"Hey" he said, already next to her.
She haven't seen him nor hear him come in and she was so focused on what she was reading that hear his voice made her jump of her seat, the papers fell to the floor.
"What?" she asked annoyed after being scared. She had hoped to not see him today nor tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. In fact, she was hoping to not see him for at least a week. But both were searching for him, and even if she didn't like it, they would have to do it together.
She knelt to the ground and started to pick up the papers she had threw, Six knelt too to help her.
If they didn't meet before it could have been a beautiful cliché romantic movie. She was about to pick the last paper on the floor when his hand did it first.
This was not good. Her heart rate started to accelerate, and she couldn't avoid thinking on the first time they met. It had been something similar. That was one of the most beautiful moments, the day she met him.
For a moment both remained like that, she didn't want to let go his hand, even when she now felt like she hated him. He had no intention of back off, and this time he wouldn't leave her alone like he did before. She didn't want to raise her eyes to look at him, but she had to.
She wanted to cry again.
"Give me a second chance" he said, sounding as stoic as he used to be. She surprised by his words and instantly raised her eyes to meet with his.
"I do want to be the man I used to be. I just don't know how, yet" he was being honest.
For the first time in his life (he could remember) he was speaking from his heart. He did want to be what he used to be, he wanted to know why Rex trusted in him so much, why Holiday fell in love of someone like him, why he was in such a good team when he was one of the most unpleasant people in the world. He wanted to know what he had done to deserve what he had now.
"You should have asked for my help before" she said, smiling.
She wanted to jump and hug him, but she didn't. It would be too soon to think that he would be the same, it would take some time, but the fact that he had just apologized (to his own way) made her happy; the happiest woman ever.
Both stood up and Holiday fixed the papers and put them in the right order. She was now smiling, and if she wanted to cry it was of happiness. He remained in there with her for a few moments before talk again.
"So, what do we do now?" he asked.
She smiled even more and without looking at him as she was trying to clean up the desk, replied.
"If Breach did change for good as Rex thought, then she must have sent him somewhere safe. I'm not sure that she would have sent him to the past, considering that slightest change in it could affect the future, and if she did sent him we would have heard of him by now, after all I think that he must be searching for us too" she finished with a smile.
"Then how are we supposed to search in the future?"
"I don't know yet, but I will start working on that. But if he's really on the future, all we have to do is wait for him to appear. We must be on guard if we want to find him before Providence does" she finished.
He wasn't surprised by the fact that she was awesomely smart. During the month they had been working together he had enough time to learn a bit about her. But even when he knew all her habits, she was a mystery for him.
She was unique. Strong, self-confident, stubborn, smart, cheery; she was very expressive and she didn't care about that. He wondered for a moment how she could survive before in Providence, definitely that must had been a cage for her, he thought.
And during all day, both stayed in the lab, talking about Rex and a possible way to find him. She was happy, she smiled, laughed; she was in a very good mood. In fact she was happier than ever, thought Six. And he was glad that for once, he was responsible for that. He knew it would take a long time to get rid of the self he used to be. But see her smiling like that, see her beautiful green eyes sparkling and hear her voice sounding cheery; that had no price for him. And he was determined to keep seeing her like that as long as he was responsible for it.
He would become the man he used to be.
For her.
