The next morning Addison woke up and for a second she thought that maybe Derek coming had all just been a dream. But then she made her way downstairs and saw him making breakfast in the kitchen.

"You know until I came down and saw you making breakfast, I actually thought you coming last night had all been some sort of crazy dream."

Derek laughs and turns to face her before saying. "No dream, I'm really here. Good morning, Addison."

"Good morning, Derek." Addison smiles back at him. "So what are you making?"

"I'm making some omelettes. So I hope you're hungry."

"I could definitely eat. You know I usually just grab a slice of toast or something. You know I'm hopeless in the kitchen."

"Well have a seat and I'll bring it over when it's ready. It's a good thing you have so many other skills in life and the fact that you can order a lot of take out or get catering."

"Yeah definitely. I can make the simple things and put something in the oven or microwave. But anything complex is lost on me. I guess I could learn if I had to but I've never really had the time and I've always had the money to order food when I've needed to." Addison tells him as she goes to make herself a coffee. "Do you want a coffee?" She asks him.

"Yes please." Derek replies as he puts one of the omelettes on a plate and then starts to make the next one. "You can have that omelette and I'll have the one that's cooking."

"Thanks Derek." Addison finishes making their coffees and takes them over to the tablet and then comes back to grab the plate with her omelette on.

Derek finishes cooking his own omelette and puts it on a plate before coming over to sit opposite Addison. "You know I can't remember the last time we sat down and had breakfast like this."

"It was a long time ago. Sometime back in the brownstone I think before we both started working so much that we didn't have time for it anymore."

"I'm really sorry Addie."

"I'm sorry too Derek and it's ok it's in the past now. We've got to keep going and look to the future. It happened and it's over now and it's sad but I refuse to let it make me sad anymore."

Derek smiles at her. "Lets look to the future then. You know I can see a bright future ahead for you Addison. You're an amazing woman and a brilliant surgeon and the world is a much better place for having you in it."

"Oh Derek. That's means a lot and just so you know I'd say the same about you. You may have been an ass with a god complex at times but that's the same ass who saved my brother. The only person who could have saved him. You know sometimes I resented the fact that being the best we could in our careers ended up tearing us apart. But I also know that we both wanted to be the best doctors that we could and I'm proud of us for that."

"We've been through a lot and I imagine that if we were still those two kids we were in Med school and we could see all that we've achieved in our careers now then we'd be so proud."

Addison smiles at him and finishes her omelette. "This was really great. Thanks Derek."

"You're welcome, Addison."

"Now I have to get ready and head to the practice. Would you like to come with me?"

"Yes that would be great."

Addison heads off to get herself ready for the day and Derek also goes to the spare room and gets ready.

Addison decides to give Naomi a heads up that Derek is here so she gives her a call.

"Hey Nae you'll never guess who turned up last night?"

"It's not Archer again is it?"

"No, no he's back in New York. It's Derek he turned up on my doorstep last night."

"Derek? Seriously?"

"Yes he told me that he'd ended things with Meredith for good. That it was over and that he wanted to come here and see me and our old friends."

"Oh my god. I wasn't expecting that."

"I was so shocked when he turned up last night but we had a long talk about everything and I let him stay in the spare room last night. He was even making us breakfast this morning."

"Wow so do you think he's just visiting or do you think he wants to move to L.A?"

"I'm not sure Nae. He said he's always getting job offers from all over the country and that he's had one from Charlotte King that he's going to see about but I don't know."

"Ok well tell Derek we'll have to all meet up for dinner and drinks soon."

"I will and Nae I'm going to bring him into the practice with me so you'll see him soon."

"Ok see you soon Addie."

"See you Nae." Addison tells her before hanging up.

Addison finishes getting ready and then makes her way downstairs and sees Derek all ready to go.

"Nice dress Addie. I like the clothes you wear here. It really fits the weather although I did always love you wearing black too."

"Thanks Derek. I do wear a lot of colour more often now. But I think it suits me more here." Addison smiles and then adds. "So shall we go?"

Addison leads them out to her Porsche and they get in.

"Wow this car is a classic. You know I love a Porsche."

"I love it too." Addison replies before starting the car and driving them to the practice.

As they drive Derek enjoys looking at everything going on around them as they get nearer to the practice he spots the Santa Monica Pier. "Hey Addie that looks like fun?"

"Yeah it is when was the last time you went on a Ferris wheel Derek?"

"I have no idea. Do you remember when we took some of our nieces and nephews to Coney Island? I think it was that long ago."

"That was a fun day. How are your sisters and the kids?"

"They're good I think. I really should go and see them all soon. We should both go and see them soon."

"Yeah I really miss them. I really want to get in touch but I don't know how some of them will be with me. I mean Nancy was great that time when she came to Seattle but I just don't know."

"Addie, my sisters and their kids all love you. Probably more than they love me."

"Yeah just not your mom. Oh my god can't you imagine the look on her face if we turned up to visit everyone together. She'd probably think we're back together or something."

Derek can't help laughing. "That would be so funny. But seriously I do need to visit my family soon and you should come and visit them at some point too. Maybe it's too much to go together but it would be fun."

"Yeah I'll definitely think about it. But I'd have to arrange some time off first."

A little while later Addison pulls into her parking space and Derek looks up at the building in front of them.

"So this is the practice."

"It looks great Addie."

They get out of the car and Addison leads Derek into the building ready to see some of their old friends again.
