Harry had to call on all of his Gryffindor courage not to faint at the feet of the giant thing in front of him.
"Fear not Harry, I am Arceus, the originator, the father of all pokemon, and it was I whom allowed Jirachi to grant your wish to be somewhere you could be loved. You see Harry, I can see the future and I see the need for a chosen one to keep the whole pokemon world safe. You are that Champion Harry, you will have abilities to help you along the way and an old friend too. When you awaken you will find yourself in your new life as Ash Ketchum chosen of Arceus."
When he first awoke to the sight of Delia Ketchum, his new mother holding him, it felt odd to have two conflicting sets of memories. As he grew though he found that by concentrating on the love he felt from the woman every time she was in the room with him he was able to ignore the memories of his time at the Dursleys tender mercy and so was able to enjoy being a son.
Without Dudley, he was able to do well at school too, only serving to piss off Gary Oak. The first thing he did when he realized there was no one here to hold him back was to get as much information about his new world as possible. Learning about Pokemon became his next biggest passion. It was like a giant game of rock, paper, scissors only with living creatures.
He didn't learn about his the powers that Arceus had mentioned until he had been in his second week as Professor Oaks helper at the ranch, something he had to have his mother suggest otherwise Ash was sure the old man would have never agreed.
He had been feeding the Professor's old Charizard, a behemoth of a thing that loved to blow low powered embers at him every time he came around when he spotted an egg laying in the bush by the Charizard's feet. The coloring made him certain it wasn't Charizard's egg, but he was unsure what type of egg it could be. He picked it up, intending to take it to Professor Oak when the thing suddenly started glowing. When Ash could see again he saw a small golden colored Pokemon he didn't recognize.
The Pokemon felt familiar though and as he brushed his hand through the Pokemon's fur he realized why it felt familiar "Sirius." he breathed, hardly believing his eyes.
"Pup? What's going on? Why are you so tall?"
"Sirius, I missed you so much. We have so much to talk about."
After taking Sirius to Professor Oak and finding out that he was now a shiny poochyena Ash insisted on Sirius being registered as his first Pokemon. After telling Professor Oak that he had found the poochyena as an egg Professor Oak sighed and handed him a Pokedex. Finding out that Sirius had a hasty nature made him laugh, it suited him to a tee. He also had an interesting selection of moves including me first, fire fang, ice fang, poison fang, thunder fang, and crunch.
The next few months as he waited for his birthday seemed to drag by as Ash got used to having Sirius back in his life and his strange new abilities which he had discovered from a book that he "found' were called Aura. So far with Aura he could do a few things he did before with magic. He could levitate objects, teleport short distances and he could manage an aura ball that kinda was like a flashlight. One week before his birthday another egg came in a mysterious package that when it hatched ended up containing a Riolu, a Pokemon that his book said would help him train his Aura.
His mom had no idea whom the egg had come from, but Ash knew. This was Arceus sending him more help. He didn't mind though as Arceus had taken him from a home where he was never loved to one where he not only had a mother, but had Sirius back. If becoming the champion for Arceus was the price he had to pay for that, he was more than willing to pay it.
