POV Auklet

I stood just outside of jade mountain academy, waiting for the rest of the students to arrive. This was my third year here, but I came again since there were new types of classes this year. I felt a jolt of shock each time I saw a wingless dragonet, before realizing they were SilkWings that simply hadn't gone through their 'metamorphosis' yet. Of course the new classes were because this was the first year the Pantalan dragons were at the academy. Several of them looked at me oddly, before a light of realization came into their eyes and they continued on their way. I didn't have to be a mindreader like my friend Princess Firefly to know that they thought I was an odd-looking LeafWing before realizing I was a SeaWing. I gazed around, looking for Firefly, or any of my other friends and/or other members of the jade winglet. "Hi Auklet!" A voice said behind me. I turned around, my fangs bared. "Calm down Auk! It's me, Cliff!" The SkyWing prince said. "Are you in the jade winglet again this year?" I asked, while it was my third year, it was Cliff's second year. We were both in the jade winglet last year, and while I was sure I was in it again this year; I couldn't remember if Cliff was. "No, I'm in the gold winglet, I'm pretty sure the SkyWing in jade is Swift, I know her, we get along, but I don't know her that well." He told me. "Okay. Wow, I have a quite a few RainWing hybrids in my winglet." I said, gazing at the list. "Really? How many?" Cliff asked. "Princess Firefly and Prince Panther, are, of course, RainWing NightWing hybrids, and Mirage is a SandWing RainWing hybrid."

I said. "Then Dragonfly is a HiveWing SilkWing hybrid. We might as well call the Jade Winglet the hybrid winglet." I said jokingly, though I kept my voice down. Some hybrids did not enjoy comments like that. I saw a purple, yellow and black dragon through the crowd and I ran up to her. "Firefly!" I said cheerfully. I then noticed something... off, about her tail, it had a black barb on the end of it. She didn't have green eyes either, one of her eyes was obsidian black, and the other was a pale, icy blue, with no pupil. When the dragonet saw I noticed she wasn't Firefly, she smirked and her scales shimmered until they were a pale, sandy gold with light blue-purple diamonds on her back and wings. "Hi. I'm Mirage." She said. Seeing my skeptical look, she added: "I have to keep true to my name, don't I?" I nodded hesitantly. "Anyway..." she trailed off, the cheerful mask, or, if you'd prefer 'mirage' was gone. "Keep your gossip to. Your. Self." Mirage hissed, arching her barbed tail and baring her long fangs threateningly. "I was just joking with my friend. I wasn't gossiping!" I said. "Let's not start any fight guys!" Sunny said, nervousness and fake cheerfulness in her voice as she got between Mirage and I. I nodded and shook my wings before walking back towards Cliff, as if that would shake off any nervousness about having Mirage as a possible clawmate. It didn't, by the way. "So now I'm kind of worried about getting murdered in my sleep..." I muttered to Cliff. "Moons, If Tsunami puts me with Mirage, I'm going to give her a earful of reasons not to." I said. "I'm her sister. She'll listen to me, right?" I asked. "Maybe." Cliff chuckled. "Hey Auklet! Sorry I'm late." A voice said behind us. "Are you a RainWing? You look odd for a RainWing." Cliff said to Firefly. "And you look odd for a SkyWing." Firefly shot back. It was true though, Cliff's wings were rather... normal sized. In other words, rather small for a SkyWing. But, of course, Firefly got her sarcasm and snarky-ness from her mother, Queen Glory. "Really? You just had to mention that, didn't you?" Cliff asked. "Stop acting like squid-Brains! We're all royalty here, we know how to act." I said the last part in a haughty voice. Firefly and Cliff began to laugh, and I joined in. "Sorry... hah... Princess Firefly.. hah... I assume?" Cliff asked between laughs. "Hahah... Yes. Prince Cliff?" She asked, he nodded.

You okay? Heard you keep getting into fights. My older sister, Anemone asked me in aquatic.

Yeah, I'm fine. Just a on-edge SandWing hybrid and a bit of... miscommunication. I flashed back.

"Who you talking to?" Cliff asked with a nudge of his wing. "Just her sister." Firefly responded for me. Oh, right. I almost forgot I taught Firefly aquatic. I thought to myself. Firefly could speak it-well, it wasn't a spoken language, but you get the point- too, by changing the color of her scales to look like they had SeaWing stripes, then making them brighter colors to 'flash' them. "Come on! School is starting soon!" I said, running into the academy.
