Here is chapter 2!! I'm glad y'all liked the first chapter! Hope y'all like this one just as much!

Both Sam and Derek had gone to the University of Toronto together. Sam had also gotten a hockey scholarship. That was one thing that made Casey feel better about Derek gone. At least he would be with someone he had known for a long time.

It was around midnight when he called her. She had fallen asleep with her cell phone clutched tightly in her hand. It was the longest night of her life. She didn't know when or if he was even going to call. But he did.

"Hello...?"

"Case, it's me. Hey did I wake you up?"

"Um, kinda..."

"I'll let you go then."

"NO! It's okay...I'm awake..."

"Well, me and Sam are eating at this place right now. I got my fridge today. It's the first time since around two that we have eaten."

"Sam and I..."

"Huh?"

"Nothing..."

"Man, I'm gone for barely 12 hours and you are already correcting me. I love you my Space Case."

"I love you too, Derek."

"Well, I just wanted to check in tonight. But, me and Sam – I mean, Sam and I – are going to go back to our dorms now. Talk to you later.

"Yeah, talk to you later."

"I love you."

"And I love you."

It was probably the shortest conversation she had ever had. But it was worth waking up for. She couldn't fall back asleep, however. Her hands played with the blankets that covered her cold body. Silent tears trailed down her face as she thought about her boyfriend. How many phone conversations like this would she have to endure? Five minutes on the phone and then nothing? A simple I love you? Never knowing the next time they would talk? She slowly grabbed her iPod from her nightstand and began to listen to it. The first song was "Think of Me" from Phantom of the Opera. She quietly sang along to the lyrics.

"Think of me, think of my fondly, when we've said goodbye. Remember me once in a while- please promise me you'll try..."

After she sang the opening to the song, she burst out in tears again and had to change to the next song. Finally, she just turned it off and held in between her thumb and index finger. She remembered the day she got the iPod. It was for her eighteenth birthday. Derek had told her mom that she wanted it. So, her mom handed over the money and Derek went and picked it out. They had been dating for a little over a year. He was so excited when she opened it. She can still remember the conversation they had right after she opened it.

"Do you like it? Tell me you like it!"

"Of course I like it, Derek."

"I told Nora you would considering you love music."

"You know me so well."

"What can I say? I'm just that good."

And he really was that good. She laid her iPod back down on her nightstand and picked up her old music box. She had received that music box when she was born from her great-grandmother. It played a beautiful lullaby. Derek broke it the Christmas before they started dating.

"What is that awful music, sister dear?"

"Don't call me that, I will never be your...sister! And it's not awful music! I got this music box from my great-grandmother when I was born."

"So what? It's dumb!"

"De-rek! Get out of my room."

"No!"

They ended up fighting and Derek had knocked it off of her nightstand. It never played again after that day. Derek had laughed at first, but when he saw Casey crying, he told her he was sorry and he didn't meat to break it. He had offered to get it fixed for Christmas the past year, but Casey wouldn't hear of it. She told him that the day it broke was the day she started falling in love with him.

Casey placed the music box back on her nightstand. She placed her head back on her pillow and sighed deeply. She began thinking that in a matter of a month, it would be two full years since Derek first asked Casey out. September 29th. Thinking of that, she fell asleep, tears no longer spilling.

Okay, well here it is! Please read (well you probably did that) and review! It only helps me become a better writer! Thanks
