Chapter 2: The New Mission

I do not own the series Naruto. The rights belong to their rightful owners.

Naruto and Sakura just finished up their meal together (a bowl of ramen at Ichiraku's), something Naruto admitted he was looking forward to, though seeing Sakura was his number one priority. The two walked around for a little bit, trying to catch up on what had happened in the past five years. Naruto really did mature like Sakura thought. She was a little disappointed, but she was glad Naruto didn't have that perverted mind anymore.

"So did you find any new love interests while on your journey?" Sakura asked; really wondering about Naruto's love life. Naruto chuckled weakly and looked down.

"No, I've kept to myself." Naruto simply said. I'm still in love with you Sakura. He thought quietly to himself. Kurama was listening to the conversation.

Kit; grow up and just confess your love. She probably knows you still love her.

Kurama it's not that simple! I don't think she loves me. She still loves Sasuke, that's why I have to bring him back to the Village.

You obviously forgot no one wants him back in the Village. He's part of the reason there was a War! You even admitted that the only way you can stop this ordeal was to kill him.

And I believe I said that I would just find a way to equal his abilities.

Yet he managed to find a way to escape Naruto. In the past five years, you have fought him ten times; and each time you let him escape instead of killing him. This last time earned you a memento.

Naruto grimaced as he lightly touched his left shoulder.

And there's nothing you can do about this Kurama? Naruto asked. The Fox had shaken its head.

You need to let your friend look at it Kit. Otherwise, it won't heal properly.

I don't need her to worry for me. I said I was going to bring back Sasuke no matter what. Even if it means my life.

Then you're being selfish. Kurama said; and retreated back into the darkness.

"Are you alright Naruto?" Sakura asked. Naruto blinked, and grinned a little bit.

"I'm fine; just a bit sore from all the traveling."

"Oh; I can heal it if you want." Sakura said, lifting her hand to help her friend. Naruto turned pale and touched his shoulder.

"I'm fine; it'll pass over eventually." he said reassuringly. Sakura looked at him funny.

You're acting funny Naruto. What's wrong with your shoulder? She thought. She spotted a bench.

"Naruto; I need to see whether or not you're sick and I need to check your body for any injuries that didn't heal while you were out for five years." Naruto felt his heart in his throat.

"Umm; it's not necessary Sakura I'm completely fine." He said as he tried to speed up. Though Sakura caught him by the collar, her other hand went for his shoulder. Naruto hissed in pain, pulling away from Sakura and covering his shoulder. Sakura sighed. If it was one thing he didn't change, it was his stubbornness.

"What happened to you Naruto? Did Konohamaru punch you hard in the shoulder?" She went to pull off his jacket, before the two of them heard an explosion. Their heads popped up at the sound. Naruto pulled his shoulder back through the jacket.

"Let's go!" Naruto said, jumping up onto the rooftops and ran at a blinding speed. Sakura followed after.

Naruto never ran this fast before. Sakura observed. Naruto looked towards the commotion, and saw something familiar. Something with hands for wings. Long hair and claws. Naruto grimaced at the sight. The figure created something similar to a ball of electricity. Naruto frowned. That was Chidori; Sasuke's jutsu that he learned from Kakashi.

"But it's not Sasuke." Naruto mumbled. He jumped down, his cloak flying upwards as he came upon the back of the attacker. The attacker saw Naruto and tried to avoid him, but Naruto stomped on him like he was nothing.

The Cursed Seal of Heaven was prominent on the guy's shoulder, as Naruto jumped off the demon's shoulder. The attacker picked himself up.

"Naruto Uzumaki." it growled. He charged up another Chidori. Naruto pointed at the attacker.

"Where is Sasuke and Orochimaru!" he yelled to the monster. The attacker didn't answer, but he flapped his wings and charged at Naruto. He frowned as he waited for the attacker, getting ready to counter his opponent. Once he neared; Naruto sidestepped, and grabbed the attackers arm, proceeded to spin him around, and threw him out of the Village. The Villagers spectating stood in awe by Naruto's throw, though Naruto reached for his shoulder, rubbing it, clearly in pain.

Sakura jumped down from the roof, and rushed over to Naruto, stepping in front of him.

"It's the Cursed Seal again. Where in the world did he get that?" Sakura asked her teammate.

"Sasuke and Orochimaru are working together again. The Cursed Seal was Orochimaru's doing, but Sasuke taught it the Chidori, along with its fellows." Naruto said as he pulled out his father's kunai. Sakura looked back towards Naruto.

"Fellows?" she questioned. Naruto nodded.

"Sasuke and Orochimaru have been a little busy these past five years. They have an army of these things." Sakura gasped, and looked back towards where the monster had been sent flying.

"Sasuke's revolution. He intends to go through with that?" Sakura asked.

"Yeah, and he intends to start here and destroy the Village … and myself." Naruto then walked past Sakura who watched her friend prepare his Rasengan. The monster reappeared over the line of buildings, another Chidori prepped in its hand. Naruto leapt at the adversary, Rasengan in front of him and the two collided, resulting in an explosion, sending the monster down into the ground, having taken the brunt of the blow, as Naruto landed on his feet gently as he watched the monster. He got up quickly, prepping another Rasengan in hand for another collision.

"Where is Sasuke?" Naruto asked again, approaching the grounded monster. Sakura advanced with caution, her fist poised to defend or attack when need be. Naruto went to bend over to grab the monster, though the adversary flipped over and proceeded to kicked Naruto in the gut, sending him backwards to recover. Naruto moved to defend himself, but the monster pressed his advantage, leaving Naruto taking hit after hit. Sakura rushed at the monster, and threw her punch, sending the opponent back. Naruto recovered, and jumped at the monster, pinning him down with a kunai at its throat. Naruto leaned in closer.

"I'll ask again. Where is Sasuke?" Naruto, pressing the kunai further. The monster merely growled and hissed.

"Konoha … will fall … along with … the world. My master … will destroy you with new powers." Naruto grimaced, and finally plunged his kunai into the beast, forcing it still.

Naruto looked back towards Sakura, who had sighed a breath of relief, which Naruto shared.

"Safe for now." Naruto mumbled as he walked back to Sakura. Sakura allowed herself a small smile as Naruto walked over to her.

"You're definitely a lot stronger." Sakura noted. Naruto shrugged, allowing a small grin.

"Maybe, but if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be around to hear that." Naruto laughed a little before looking away. Sakura's smile faltered.

Naruto does have a point. She reasoned as she looked back at the corpse. Had I not stepped in, Naruto would have been a goner, and then Konoha would have been left to Sasuke. And let's face it, we might have great shinobi, Naruto is the only one though who can match Sasuke blow for blow. But if he can't match him, then no one will. Sakura walked over to her teammate and proceeded to hug him tightly, catching Naruto off-guard. He returned the hug, though he was a little confused.

"You know, I'm fine Sakura." Naruto said, Sakura shook her head and held him tighter.

"Just accept it, idiot." She said. Naruto continued to look down, but shrugged and rested his chin on her head, letting the moment go by.

"Nice to see that Konoha has it's hero back." someone said behind them. Sakura jumped back a few feet away from Naruto. Naruto looked up to see Kakashi Hatake in his formal attire, sitting up there reading a tattered book, still looking the same as ever. Naruto grinned.

"Great to see you too, Kakashi Sensei!" Naruto said. Sakura was flushed with red, and turned away. It was ignored, though Kakashi did notice it, dismissing it anyways.

"I was coming down to see what was going on, but you managed to handle it very nicely. Though to be honest, I would have liked a little action myself." Naruto chuckled.

"Well, consider yourself the first guy to go on a mission once I get appointed Sensei." Kakashi's hummed as he closed his book.

"So about that mission Naruto?" Kakashi asked. Sakura's flush died as she remembered the letter. Naruto grimaced.

"Right." Naruto said. He looked back up to his fellow ninja, pulling out a scroll from his jacket, and opening it. Kakashi and Sakura looked at it, both raising an eyebrow.

"Chronicle of the Kamikage?" asked Sakura. Kakashi shook his head.

"That's a dead tale Naruto." Naruto nodded.

"OK, then you have heard of the tale?" Naruto asked. Kakashi nodded, Sakura shook her head. Naruto looked around, then grabbed the both of them, and in the blink of an eye, they were on top of the Hokage Monument.

"Safety reasons." Naruto said. Kakashi huffed, impressed Naruto had learned his Sensei's jutsu.

"Naruto, the Kamikage doesn't exist. It was a tale meant to explain what happens to ninja's when they go too far."

"Who's the Kamikage?" Sakura asked, taking the scroll from Naruto. Naruto put his hands behind his head.

"Supposedly the strongest ninja since the Sage of Six Paths. His powers were below to that of the Sage and his sons, but he was capable of holding out against all the Tailed Beasts, even the five Kages."

"The Chronicle included his beginning. Though his name is never mentioned, he is said to have fought the Uchiha's born after Madara's time. He lost his eyes, yet received a pair a few days after, and fought a person named Haseo Uchiha, the Shadow Reaper." Kakashi continued.

"The Shadow Reaper?" Sakura asked. Naruto shrugged.

"The Uchiha was noted to be the first true Kamikage actually, and the Shadow Reaper was what he called himself. He stole the knowledge of the five Kages and their Villages from his time, and mastered them, which is what makes him powerful. But the unknown shinobi that would coin the term fought the Uchiha and stole his power through some means, leaving the Uchiha powerless. The new Kamikage was considered the strongest ninja after that incident, seeing that he could steal the powers of other Shinobi. He disappeared, but rumor has it he can't die and continues to live on. Many shinobi try to look for him."

"Which is what you want to do?" Sakura said, not believing a single bit of the story. Naruto shook his head.

"No. I have no wish to try and find a character who doesn't exist. It's the person who's trying to find him and believes the story is true, to gain limitless power."

"Legend has it that through defeating the Kamikage, you would be called in turn the next Kamikage. Because the Kamikage was so powerful, you were almost impossible to defeat after fighting them." Kakashi added. Sakura looked to Naruto, a frown on her face.

"And who's looking for him?" she asked. Naruto's face saddened.

"None other than Sasuke." he said quietly.

The trio fell silent, the noise coming from the Village trying to recover.

"So you think Sasuke believes in this tale?" Sakura asked. Naruto pulled out another scroll and opened it.

"He knows it's real." Naruto said as Kakashi leaned in.

"The Uchiha Family Line. Sasuke's name is on the bottom." Naruto nodded his head.

"Look up three names on his father's side." he said. Sakura pointed her finger on Sasuke's name, though she shivered. Tracing it up, she stopped on the name that was circled.

"Impossible!" Kakashi said out loud. Sakura squinted closer, then she saw the reason her Sensei would be so loud.

Sasuke Uchiha's great grandfather's name was Haseo Uchiha.

"Haseo Uchiha. The first Kamikage?" she asked. Naruto nodded.

"I looked into it. Apparently the man went mad around the age of sixteen, saying things about losing his powers to a person by the alias of the Kamikage, as well as losing his closest friends, who were also Uchiha, but reports claimed they didn't exist. However, further research indicated that he was sent to a psychiatric hospital because he kept spewing nonsense, nothing that was recorded however. He was released, got married, and had a few kids, one of them being Sasuke's gramps. Towards his later years, he went out to look for the supposed living Kamikage. He's dead as far as I know. The weirder part is that the reports state Haseo was a shinobi of the Leaf with the capabilities of performing jutsu, and just lost all ability to do so, right around the time he went mad."

"But that's impossible." Sakura said. Naruto nodded.

"How does one lose your powers in one shot?" Naruto said as he rolled up the scroll. "I don't know. But when I saw this and made the connections, I was positive Sasuke was going to go forward and try to find this Kamikage. And that will lead us closer to Sasuke and finally bring him to justice."

"So your mission is to hunt down Sasuke again?" Kakashi asked. Naruto nodded, and Sakura looked at Naruto.

Never giving up as always. She thought. Naruto moved towards the Fourth's Head.

"Yeah, but here's the stuff I really don't want to mention, the reason why he is looking for this power." the two other ninja looked towards Naruto, his face covered in the darkness.

"The reason I stayed out of the Village for five years was so that Sasuke wouldn't attack the Village. That monster you saw is part of his army, his grand plan for the Revolution he wants. I fought him several times, and he didn't dare attack the village without me being there. He wants to destroy everything related to Konoha in one fell swoop. The last time I saw him, I learned of this information, and found a reason to track him again." He turned back towards them.

"Kakashi, I request to lead a mission to track Sasuke and his team down to prevent his revolution, and causing another war. I want you and Sakura to join me." Kakashi looked at his former student and nodded.

"Very well Naruto. Permission granted." Naruto sighed, taking a brief glance at Sakura. She held her breath as she gave her a smile.

"Sakura, Kakashi, I'll see you in the afternoon. We head out then." Then without blinking, Naruto vanished, leaving them thinking about what Naruto had said.

Author's Note:

Wow. I'm finally on here. I never thought I would be doing this, but to be honest, I'm excited to be on here.

I'm Raikiriblitz. And this is my first story. I've wanted to post this story for a long time since I started writing it in 2012, and it's 2015. Better late than never I guess.

To set the record straight, this story does not take place in the actual continuity, this is in another reality. I didn't care for the ending of Naruto, especially how the romance aspects were handled. Can I do better? No. But I can still write.

There are aspects from the original manga which are present, Kakashi becomes Hokage. Sasuke wants a revolution. The awesome powers Naruto and Sasuke got from the Sage. But there are elements that I have altered. Sasuke is still evil. The final fight between Sasuke and Naruto ends in a stalemate, no lose of limbs, and Sasuke flees. Naruto the Last never happened. The anime filler arcs won't be included. And the pairings are different. I'm not a fan of the pairings in the official manga, but it is what it is. I can at least turn to fan fiction for better endings anyway.

So there is Chapter 2, I will upload two chapters a week at the very least. And if I don't post anything, then I'm working on another writing project. This is the first of the Kamikage Chronicles series that I intend to write out. And depending on the readers, there might be more stories on their way.

Until next time, see ya!
