I do not own Harry Potter. Sirius Black would have never died if I did. I hope you enjoy this chapter :)

"What' this about Green Bean snogging a bloke in a cupboard?" The haughty voice asked, amusement dripping from every syllable. "Whose trunk is out in the hall? It's holding up traffic?"

Jake gave a small groan beneath me, nudging me until I was in a standing position, in the middle of the compartment. Crossing my arms over my chest I glared at the two boys directly in front of me, before shooting the one in the rear a smile. I completely ignored the first two questions and directed my own at the taller boy in the back.

"Hey Remus," I smiled politely, having always been on good terms with the more mild mannered Marauder. "Have a good summer break?" He returned my smile, looking a bit tired. Remus seemed to be constantly ill, always missing school in favor of taking potion after potion in the hospital wing. It was sad, that such a kind boy be plagued with such issues. I had always gone out of my way to take extra good notes when I noticed Remus' absence, knowing that Black and Potter were too busy screwing around, and Pettigrew's handwriting was awful. I always allowed Remus to copy down mine.

"Was alright. Went to France for a week with my mum." he informed me, eyes lighting up slightly at the memory of, what was clearly, a fantastic holiday. I grinned, opening my mouth to ask him about it, wanting more then just "France" as a detail when I was rudely interrupted.

"Yes I am sure we're all curious about Remus' French adventures, but what I am more curious about is whom Mrs. Lewis was snogging on the third floor?" Sirius pushed, eyes twinkling.

Now to say I hated the Marauders would be a lie. A poor lie at that. Yes, James Potter could be a cocky prat, and yes he got annoying constantly pining after Lily in the past. And yes, I was surprised Sirius was able to hold his head on his shoulders with an ego that big. And fine, Peter Pettigrew wasn't really my cuppa.. but they were bloody hilarious. They knew it. I knew it. They knew I knew it.

And this brought up a sort of unspoken agreement between myself and the Marauders. I never questioned the things I overheard in the common room, or class rooms, or whatever. I would allow them to borrow my books with little to know question. And in return, they mostly left me alone, prank wise I mean. This little agreement always confused Lily. She never quite understood what I saw in them, and how I allowed them to borrow my things with no questions. I merely tell her I can appreciate a good prank when I see one.

And this brings us back to the present. Sirius Black, smirking at me like he's just said the wittiest thing on planet earth, grey eyes sparkling under a curtain of disheveled black curls that just past his jaw. A large contrast from Severus Snapes tangles of grease. Not that I'd ever let Lily hear me say that.

That smirk brought a small scowl to my own lips, my eyes rolling on their own accord as I stepped forward, shooing both Potter and Black out of my way before grabbing ahold of my forgotten case and yanking it into the compartment with very little grace.

This earned me an amused look from Jacob, who opened his mouth to most likely make some offbeat comment about how much of a lady I was before I swore loudly and sent him a look.

"One word, Basile, and I will hex you." I sneered, attempting once to swing my trunk up on my own before coming to the quick and sudden realization that it was not happening.

"If looks could kill Deenie Weenie, I think we'd all be dead, Whadda says Prongs?" Sirius continued to tease, in a voice someone would use talking to an uneducated toddler.

Jake opened his mouth, an annoyed look on his features, probably preparing to tell Sirius to shove off. Lily had buried her nose in a book, keen on avoiding being brought up incase Potter began to harass her. And both Dana and Cameron were watching the exchange with grins and giggles. I had no idea which infuriated me more.

Turning, I quickly snatched my wand from my boot and waved it threateningly towards Sirius Black and his dumb awful friends. Well.. whatever! But he didn't seem taken back in the slightest, only continuing to smirk cockily at my slowly reddening face.

"Listen mate, why don't you just buggar off? She's obviously not in the mood to talk-" I cut Jake off before he could finish, waving my wand at him this time. He, unlike Black, knew to shut his cake hole.

"Shut it! I decide what I am and am not in the mood for!" I scolded him before turning my attention to the ever growing smirk, "You! Buggar off! I am not in the mood!" Potter let out a snort of laughter, patting Black on the back and throwing Lily a longing look that she dutifully ignored.

"Come on mate, I can see now is not the time to try and court these fair maidens. Lets find a compartment and locate the candy trolly." He offered.

Sirius continued to smirk at me a moment, eyes sparking in an amused fashion. And I could tell he had gotten exactly what he wanted. A rise out of me. I glared, and resisted the urge to stick my tongue out at him.

There was a moment of tense silence. Black starring at me with a smirk. Me glaring at him wand and jaw clenched. Jacob, watching my movements, waiting to see if he needed to step in. James, tugging the back of Black's sweater, obviously wanting to continue on their way. Lily ignoring us all. Peter looking like he shat himself. Dana and Cam clutching each other and trying not to laugh, and Remus studying his shoe laces.

Black was the first to break the frozen image. He stood up straighter and took a step towards me. I opened my mouth to let out another curse at him, but he sidestepped around me, looking at my trunk a moment before lifting it almost effortlessly, and storing it on the overhead. Once it was secure, he stepped back and brushed his hands off, looking down at me, that amused look this prevalent in his eyes.

"Well Miss. Lewis, looks like you'll be owing me a favor." He decided, before once again sidestepping me, where I stood, slack jawed in the center of the compartment. By the time my brain caught up to where everyone else was, Black was once again in the hallway, he and James both grinning like the idiots they were. My lip twitched, threatening to join them.

"We will be seeing you ladies.. and gent at dinner." He announced with an over exaggerated bow before tugging Potter with him down the hallway. I took the two steps to the door, sticking my head out after them.

"Yeah well! I wouldn't hold your breath, Black!" I called down the hallway, hoping they didn't hear the smile in my voice. Black chuckled, but gave no other indication that he even heard me. I watched them go a moment, before turning to the sound of someone clearing their throat.

I looked up at Remus, my smile softening.

"Well.." He started, ringing his hands together, before giving a defeated shrug, "Sorry about them.. They've been cooped up all week, and they're a bit roughty. Need to get the energy out some how.. Like.. animals they are." He tried, lightening the mood with a small joke. I smiled at his effort and nodded sympathetically.

"You don't need to apologize for them, Remus." I assured before gesturing down the hall, "Now make sure they don't assault any first years. We can talk about France at supper, or after classes tomorrow." I assured him. Remus grinned and nodded his head.

"Of course, good seeing you, Aberdeen." He poked his head around me, smiling at the other members of my compartment, causing Lily to look up from her book. Even she has a rather soft spot for Remus. "Good seeing you lot too. See you for the prefects meeting, Lily." Lily mumbled a see you back, smiling before returning to her book.

Remus took his leave, dragging a rather green looking Peter with him. Maybe it was all the conflict, or maybe it was standing on a moving train for so long, but he was looking a bit worse for wear.

This time I was sure to shut the door, locking it for good measure, before plopping myself down between Lily and Jake, crossing my arms over my chest. I looked at the book Lily was fervently reading and scoffed.

"Fat lot of help you were." I grumbled, shaking my head at the book, "Why do you read all your textbooks before school? Isn't that why we come here?" Jacob reached over me, going to grab the book out of Lily's hand.

"Come on Lily, we haven't seen you all summer, the studying can wait." He informed her, but Lily was too quick, moving the book from his reach and shooting us a both a look.

"It's never too early to start. You two will be thanking me when you're two weeks behind your studies and I'm already ahead. You two both need to start buckling down."

"Come on Lily," Jake laughed, "I'm not that bad. I've never been two weeks behind before." He assured her waving his hands, "

"Maybe not, but you're going into your fifth year! This is your OWL year, even the best students feel overwhelmed this year. I got behind in nearly all my classes at some point last year, the teachers tack on homework assignment after homework assignment and you have to stay on top of it! You want to pass all your OWLs don't you?" She questioned him seriously as I tried not to laugh.

I'd gotten the same speech a hundred and one times last year about it being our OWL yeah and how I had to start doing my work and paying attention. And now it was Jake's turn and it felt liberating to hear Lily scolding someone else for a change.

"She's not wrong, Jake." I cut in, seeing him ready to argue back.I wasn't ready for them to really go at it yet. "Fifth year is hard. You'll get behind even if you're ahead." Lily seemed pleased that I was on her side of the study train for once, before going back to her reading.

Jake took out his copy of the Daily Prophet and we began skimming it, pointing out stories of note, or ones that were just plain ridiculous.

Dana and Cameron fell into a quiet discussion of who they thought our Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher would be this year. And that's how we sat for the majority of the train ride. Lily eventually getting up to go off to her prefects meeting, and the rest of us not budging.

I eventually stopped reading over Jake's shoulder and turned to stare out the window instead, watching the sun slowly making it's journey lower in the sky. I zoned out, not quite asleep, but not fully awake either. I heard the compartment door open, and snapped out of it, glancing over to see Lily coming back in. We made eye contact and she scowled slightly.

"I was.. lucky enough to encounter Potter and Black on the way back from the meeting." She informed me, and I nodded, waiting for her to tell me what awful way Potter asked her out this time. "Sirius Black wanted me, to tell you, that he said hello." She huffed before going to her trunk to remove her robes, "Now lets change."

No Lily will you go to Hogsmeade with me? No Lily will you marry me? Have eight babies with me? Wow. That was a rarity. I got up too, following Lily's lead and went to the compartment door, drawing the curtains and turning back to change, our friends slowly moving into action too.

Once everyone was in their robes, Gryffindor ties tied to the best of our ability, we took our trunks down from the over head and began to get ready to get off the train.

"I have to go help the first years find their way over to the boats." Lily informed me tying her long hair back from her face. I hadn't really noticed how much it grew over the summer until now. Maybe she made a potion for it? I'd have to ask her later.

"Are you coming up on the carriages or meeting us at dinner?" Dana asked, making sure both of her socks were pulled up equally.

"I'll probably just meet you guys at dinner, considering if we do take the carriages, we will be the last ones up. It's easier just to meet there." We all nodded in agreement, and promised to save Lily a seat with us, and I vowed to do my best to keep James Potter from sitting next to her.

The train pulled into Hogsmeade station and Lily took her leave going to help out the little firsties and even some second years who weren't sure where they needed to be.

"Come on." Dana muttered dragging her trunk out of the small room. Cameron followed her close behind, leaving Jake and I alone a moment as our friends disappeared into the crowd of students.

"Ab, wait." He sighed, grabbing onto my elbow to keep me from going anywhere. I shot him a curious look at the semi serious voice. We weren't serious with each other, that's not really how this relationship worked. "How was summer?" He asked after a tense pause, and I knew he was imploring more than just that.

"Fine." I answered with an indifferent shrug, trying to brush him off. I didn't want to have this talk. Not with him. Not when we were supposed to be going to a happy feast.

"You know you can talk to me right.. even if-" I cut him off with a wave of my hand.

"No. I can't. Because I don't want to talk about it. Jacob this conversation is over."

"Yeah but-"

"Over!" I snapped slightly, realizing how harsh I sounded I quickly pulled him into a short lived hug, before pushing back again, "Please let me enjoy the welcoming feast. We can talk tomorrow or later this week. Just not right now?" He seemed to deen this a suitable answer before smiling cheekily and pulling his trunk from the room.

"Keep up!" He called before I lost that spot of red hair in the crowd of people. Rolling my eyes I smiled to myself before following. Once off the train I'd be easier to locate my friends and wherever they got off to.

I had my head down, focusing on not getting my trunk caught on anything as I walked when I felt an arm sling itself around my shoulder, pulling me into the body of the person.

My lip curled up in disgust as I looked up to see who thought it was okay to touch me at the current time. My gaze softened a bit when I found a grinning Sirius Black.

"Yes?" I asked, continuing to walk, looking back to at my trunk, not allowing him or his silly arm to slow me down. I felt someone else wedge their way onto my other side, making it three people across and a tight squeeze. They too put their arm around my shoulder, accompanying me on my walk. I could only assume it was James Potter. "Can I help you two?"

"Ah! I thought you'd never ask." Potter grinned, the voice coming from my left side. I snorted and shook my head, slipping from under their arms and going around the other side of my trunk and jumping off the train, going to pull the large box down after me, when a hand stopped me.

"Ah ah ah, let me get it for the lass." Black offered, also hopping down before lifting my trunk onto the ground.

"Where are your trunks?" I asked, looking suspiciously at the boys. James motioned over to where the other students had left their own luggage to be moved to the castle and stored in their rooms.

"We came back for you, love. Saw your Jake fellow rushing off the train. Couldn't he be bothered to help a lady with her trunk?" Black asked shaking his head.

"I was fine actually. If I needed help, he would have helped me." I assured, but didn't argue as Black took my trunk over and set it with the rest of the school's. "Now if that's all I will be on my way. Cheers." But alas, I wasn't lucky enough. Another arm went around my shoulder; James Potter.

"Now now, no need to rush off." He grinned, running his free hand through his hair, messing it up even more. Lily bloody well hated that.

"My friends are waiting for me." I informed him, "Anything you lot have to ask of me, can certainly wait until after supper."

"We're your friends aren't we?" He asked, causing Black to nod in agreement, both boy matching my slowly quickening stride.

"Oh sure. The best of mates." I chuckled sarcastically, shaking my head, "I was never under the impression we were mates? I just thought we had some agreement. I lent you books, you left me be."

"Oh come now that's not true." Black waved off my allegations, "You and Moony are always chatting or studying, or lending each other notes."

"Remus? Oh yes, Remus and I are mates." I nodded throwing the boy a smile over my shoulder before looking up at Black, "You on the other hand aren't really my mate. You're not someone I hate. You're just a bloke who pulls pranks that are sometimes funny." He mocked a look of deep hurt at my remark. I looked up at Potter, "And you're a bloke who harasses my best mate."

"Come on! I don't harass Lily, I've been nice to her all day." I rolled my eyes and removed his arm from my shoulder as he approached the carriages, looking around for my friends.

"I dunno, Deen Bean, I don't see 'em. Did you tell them to wait up?" Black asked, his voice teasing.

"My name isn't Deen Bean." I huffed, crossing my arms and continuing to crane my neck to try and spot my friends. "Must've thought I already went up to the school." I decided, shaking my head, mildly annoyed.

"You.. can come up with us?" Remus offered from behind me, obviously trying to be kind. There were very few carriages left, most students having already made their way up. So it was these blokes, or strangers.

"Perfect, you can come with us!" Potter decided, tugging me along to the closet carriage and shoving me in. Now, these carriages were really only built for four people, so pushing five it made it cramped, but not unbearable. For the first moment or so we were all plagued by a slightly, in my opinion, awkward silence. So after a moment of waiting to see if they were ever going to get to what they wanted from me, I turned to Remus, whom I was sandwiched up against, the wall of the carriage on my other side.

"So how was your trip to France then?" I asked him, genuinely curious as to how he enjoyed the country, seeing as how I'd been there just last summer with Jacob and his family.

"Very good." He nodded, smiling small, "I really enjoyed it.

"Did you spend your time in muggle France? Or the wizarding bits? Oh I hope you got to go to Paris, isn't it just lovely?"

"We did actually, we spent most of our trip there, have you-" Remus was cut short by Black whom leaned in rolling his eyes.

"I don't see what's so exciting about it. It's just a city." I looked at him a moment, surprised.

"It's the city of love, it's architecture is some of the most brilliant and beautiful the world has ever seen, not to mention all the culture of the food, and the art. And.. and.." I trailed off when I noticed him just sitting there smirking at me, "Do you mind?"

"No not at all. Do continue. Art and culture is where I think you were out. The city of love." He laughed. Peter let out a small squeal of laughter but shut up when I sent him a glare.

"Are you going to tell me what you want? Or just continue to make a fool of me for your own personal amusement?" I asked.

"I'm not trying to make a fool out of you. I was telling you to continue." Black laughed, shaking his head. Remus cleared his throat slightly, giving him a pointed look.

"We need you to do us a favor." he eventually said, looking at me with a look that said, 'I'm sorry about them', and I nodded for him to continue. "You see we need a book.. from the restricted section, and you know you can only get books from there if you have a note from a teacher."

"Or you sneak in." Potter added.

"Right or you sneak in, which we will not be doing." He looked pointedly at his friend.

"And no teacher in their right might will give us a note to get a book from restricted section." Black smirked. "And seeing as your McGonagall's favourite..."

"We want you to ask her for a note." Remus finished, his eyes pleading. I looked at them, all leaning in to me, waiting for an answer, hopeful looks on their faces.

What any reasonable human would have done is, say no right away, and report them as soon as they got up to school. But I never claimed to be a reasonable person.

"What book? And what's my excuse to ask for it? Hey professor let me go get a book from the restricted section, you know. For shits and giggles." Black cracked a smile at my comment and shook his head.

"Of course not, that would be silly.. We need you to get us Dos and Don'ts in Your Animagus State."

"For research purposes, of course." Remus smiled, obviously trying to coax me into this.

"How am I supposed to get her to agree to that? There's no real reason I'd need that book. They're no real reason you lot need that book." I huffed.

"Now that's not true, the process of becoming an Animagus is very helpful in developing other potions, charms, and of course.." Black's eyes twinkled again, "Pranks."

"That still doesn't answer the question how am I supposed to go about asking her to write me a note for the book? She's going to be suspicious. Classes haven't even started yet."

"Yes, but you read for fun and she knows that. Tell her you're curious about the process of becoming one, maybe even you're thinking about becoming one when you graduate, but you want to learn more about it first." Remus supplied, tapping his leg slightly. Pettigrew remained quite, looking down at his feet the entire time. After a few glances passed nervously through the boys, I sighed and nodded.

"Yes fine, I will give it a go. But I am not promising you lot anything." Potter pumped his fist in the air, and Black gave a cheer, patting the other on the back. Remus smiled looking relieved and thinked me quietly.

Slowly the carriage came to a stop in front of the entrance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Peter was the first to jump from the carriage, Potter following him, Black hopped off next and then Remus. I grabbed the railing and when to jump down, when someone offered me their hand, causing me to swat it away.

"Come on, it's all muddy, let me help you." Black stated, shoving his hand at me a second time. When I took no move to grab it, he signed, "We don't have all year, Aberdeen, come on." Before taking my free hand, and helping me jump down, avoiding the patch of mud in front of the door.

"Thanks Black."

"Call me Sirius, love."

"No."

"Padfoot?"

"What? No."

"You call Moony by his first name."

"Yes well Remus hasn't called me awful nicknames since first year."

"Sorry Deen Bean."

"Piss off Black." I rolled my eyes, a small smile tugging at my lips, letting him know I wasn't actually all that pissed off about the small exchange, before we all started into the building making a beeline for the entrance to the great hall.

"I can practically hear the food calling to me. It's saying "James, come closer!" it's.. it's beckoning to me!" I found myself laughing as Potter reached forward walking dreamily into the great hall, that was already filled with students, chatting and finding their friends they didn't get to see on the train.

My own eyes scanned the crowd, spotting Lily, Dana, Jake, and Cameron sitting with Alice and Frank. They were all talking amongst themselves, and Jake kept throwing glances over his shoulder towards the entrance. Finally spotting me, he waved me over, grinning. I grinned back and turned to Black and Potter who seemed to be searching for the best place to sit.

"I'll try and get you your silly book. See you blokes later." I waved goodbye, hopping I finally shook them off me for the evening. I wasn't lucky enough. As I walked down the table both Black and Potter stuck by my side. Black throwing a few winks here and there to random girls who waved at him. "Please go sit somewhere else. I promised Lily I'd keep you lot away from her for tonight. I'm getting you your book. Do this for me?" I asked pouting slightly.

"Aww, come on. What if I promise on my life, not to say one word to Lily Evans?" He offered.

"Not a single word, Potter. You too Black. Don't even look at her." I threatened, before reaching my friends at the table and tossing myself down next to Jake who was sitting next to Lily on one side of the bench. Dana was on the other side of Lily, and across from us was Cameron, Frank, and Alice. Remus and Peter went around to the other side to sit across from us, and I was lucky enough to have Black and Potter wedge themselves in on the other side of me.

"Ah. I could get used to this." Black grinned, shooting Potter a look, who smirked in agreement.

"Well don't." Jake rolled his eyes, pointing down to the other end of the table, "There's plenty of room down there for you blokes, I think I see some fourth years fawning over you. Why don't you go see what they'd like?" Black leaned forward to glare at Jake, and Jake wholeheartedly glared back at him, causing me to feel mildly uncomfortable.

"Why don't you mind your own business, Basile?" He asked, sneering slightly.

"Why don't you leave my friends alone?" Jake shot back.

"Why don't both of you shut up and leave each other alone." I asked, crossing my arms over my chest, "You're giving me a headache."

Black sat back, grinning again, the little encounter already seemingly forgotten as he put his arm around my shoulder once more.

"Sorry, love." Jake on the other hand, sat back, continuing to sulk and shoot glares at Black and Potter. Everyone began to chat again, and I removed Black's arm from my shoulder, joining in on the conversation. Slowly Jacob dropped the pout and started to talk with Lily again about how her summer break was. I started to watch Black and Potter get into a heated, but not serious, debate on Quidditch and why the Cuddly Cannons were the absolute worst team in the entire league.

Professor Dumbledore stood up, and the laughter died down, attention going to him. He announced the in coming first years, and the doors opened, revealing McGonagall and her line of firsties. They walked down, and one by one she read off their names, starting with a little blonde girl named Jennifer Amenity, who got sorted into Ravenclaw, and ending with a boy named Clyde Yak, who was sorted into Slytherin. Once again Dumbledore stood up to make his speech, and my stomach began to growl, begging for food.

"Someone's a little hungry, hm?" Black whispered teasingly into my ear. I stuck my tongue out at him and turned to get a better look at Dumbledore.

"Welcome back to those students returning, and a great welcome to those of you who just stepped through those doors for the first time. Just a reminder that the forbidden forest is forbidden to all students." He emphasized the all, glancing over at the Gryffindor table, and two boys who were sitting next to me. "And several items have been added to the band list, but that's a topic for another night. I know you're all starving, so enjoy your meal, and have a great years students." With a grand wave of his arms, the tables filled with food, and you could hear the gasps of first years, and the cheers of everyone else as he all tucked in.

I loaded my plate up and took a long drink of pumpkin juice before digging in. Everyone around me was stuffing their faces, and laughing, having a grand old time. I couldn't help but grin to myself as I ate and took in my surroundings. Everyone looked so happy and at ease.

I felt someone tap on my forehead, and snap me out of my little day dream as I looked over at Black, who had gravy on his chin. I let out a laugh, covering my mouth and raising my eyebrows at him. He raised his own in return.

"Can I ask what's so funny?" I shook my head, continuing to giggle behind my hand.

"Nothing don't worry about it.." I assured him, shaking my head.

"Tell me.." He prodded, nudging me with his elbow.

"Gravy on your face.." I giggled, using my free hand to point to his chin. Black raised an eyebrow and turned to Potter.

"Do I have Gravy on my chin?" Potter looked up from his meal and snorted, nodding his head.

"Yeah mate." Black considered this a second before sticking his finger in his gravy and turning to me, holding it menacingly.

"Don't you dare." I held up my hands, trying to look as serious as possible, leaning away from the boy, and into Jake, who looked away from Lily to see what was going on. Black continued to wiggle his finger, using his free hand to try and make me lower my arms, causing me to squirm around, "Hey now! Stop that." I laughed, doubling over to try and keep him away from my face. Curse me for being so God damn ticklish. I felt Jake tense up behind me, continued to try and scoot away from Black, until I felt him drag his gravy covered finger across my cheek, letting go and allowing me to sit back up. I knew my face was red from laughing, and Black was giving me a smug look.

"Who knew you were that ticklish. I barely even touched you." He smirked, causing me to hit his arm. Potter laughed, lifting his own gravy covered finger, winking at Remus.

"It's the new style Moony." He informed, before reaching over and wiping his face with gravy. Remus laughed, not even bothering to put up a fight. James took more on his finger, wiping it on his own nose. I couldn't help but laugh along with the other four at our gravy laden faces.

"You guys are like a bunch of toddlers." I decided, taking the napkin Jacob had been trying to give me for the last two minutes and wiped my face off, handing it back to him as he continued to glare at Black. Leaning on him slightly, I gave him a smile. "Come on, don't get all grumpy." I muttered.

"I'm not all grumpy. Black's just being a git." He whispered. I smirked and shook my head at him.

"Black is actually for once in his life being a tolerable human being. You're being a git."

"I am not!" He whined.

"Shh, just calm down. I know you're cranky when you're tired." I smiled, giving his leg a small squeeze. Jake nodded, not bothering to argue with me. We both knew that he was not easy to get along with when he was overtired. He got whiny and clingy, or he got whiny and refused to allow anyone to touch him. You never knew which it'd be until you tried to comfort him.

Dessert came, and Black tried to wipe some whipped topping on my face, but I managed to keep him at bay this time, and slowly the eating stop and everyone began to chat sleepily. I rested my head on Jake, yawning loudly and striking up a conversation with Dana who was sitting right in front of me. We talked about a concert she'd seen over break, a muggle band and she talked about the guy she'd met there and the summer fling they had. I listened to her, trying not to nod off.

Eventually Dumbledore stood again, biding us all a goodnight and dismissed us from the hall to go to bed.

I got up, yawning and stretching before waiting for my friends to be up too. Lily and remus left us to go and lead the first years up to Gryffindor tower. The rest of us slowly followed the crowd to where we belong. No one really talked on the way up, everyone either too tired, or too caught up in their own thoughts. I was part of the first bunch. We reached the portrait and Potter stated the password before we all staggered in.

"Well Goodnight all." I called, already dreaming of my pajamas and four post bed. Jake smiled, pulling me into a quick hug before wishing me other room mates a good night's sleep. Black opened his arms wide and grinned at me.

"Do I get a hug goodnight?" He asked. I turned back to him and his group of friends and walked over to them, smiling. A look of confusion passed over Black's face before he grinned.

"Goodnight Remus, see you tomorrow." I stated cheekily, ignoring Black, and giving the boy a hug. "Goodnight Peter. Goodnight Potter." I waved at the other two, "Sweet dreams!" before turning back around and walking with my friends up to my dorm, laughing when Black called after me.

"Sweet dreams to you too, Deen!" I made it to my bed and barely managed to get my shoes off before collapsing down. Hm. Maybe pajamas weren't really a necessity, I thought as I slowly drifted off to sleep. It was good to be back.

Hope you lot enjoyed this! Please review!
