How Life's Rivers Flow

"Nervous?" my twin brother asked as he turned his head to look at me, taking his eyes off the road ahead which wasn't always the best decision while driving a tank of a truck.

"Not on your life," I responded, combing through my lengthy dirty blond hair with my fingers in an attempt to will it not to get caught in anything today. Five years with nothing more than a trim, no way was this beautiful main going to be my downfall today.

"Me either," Lobo nodded, though the look on his face spoke otherwise. His golden eyes that people said we shared weren't able to stay in one place and his muscular arms were flexed as he gripped the steering wheel.

"Not liking the idea of a new school?" I asked in what was supposed to be a teasing manner but actually came out genuine.

"Not without Loup," he ground out.

Loup, his girlfriend from our old school. Sweetest and weirdest girl one could ever find. But she had been with my brother for years. "Don't worry. If anyone can survive a long distance relationship, it will be you two. And you'll do fine here. You've got me, after all."

This sent my mass of a brother into a fit of laughter, something I had not planned, but it made him cheer up, nonetheless. After his deep chuckled died off, he glanced at the clock on his radio, "When did class start?"

"An hour ago," I answered, not even fazed. At least this way we'd be sure to make an entrance.

"Great," he grumbled, pulling into the parking lot at a speed that would have terrified anyone who hadn't had to ride with an insane driver so many times already. He zipped through the lines, something a truck this size shouldn't be allowed to do, and flung us into what was close enough to our assigned spot with surprising grace.

He took a moment to situate himself, checking his crop-cut hair in the mirror and dusting off his Simon & Garfunkel t-shirt, all while I watched the driver of the car we cut off throw a fit as she slammed her way out of her vehicle and over to his door.

Of course, my brother was too much in his own world, and opened the door straight into her awaiting forehead with a surprising amount of force.

The girl bounced back a few steps, her hands cradling her head as she let out an angry caw. Lobo, in response, just froze there with his eyes wide as saucers. I, on the other hand, thanked god for my chance to laugh back at him this morning. And I took it.

"Wow, asshole!" I called out, letting my cackles fill the air as I climbed out of the truck, slammed the door shut, and went around to face the girl who was now trying her hardest not to spit profanities at the ground.

Light brown hair, chocolate eyes, and a big red bump were all I could see as this girl suddenly began ranting about her parking spot and how she was running late and did not need this at the moment. My laughter still hadn't come to a stop and her franticness sent me into a fit of stifled chuckles, making her even angrier.

Lobo had exited the car by the time she seemed to run out of words and he towered over her as he tried to ask her if she was okay.

"You just about gave me a concussion, no I'm not okay!"

"Hey, chill out a bit," I cut in, pulling Lobo away from her so he was standing next to me.

"I will not chill out! Who the fuck even are you?!"
My eyebrow shot up, a hand instinctively coming up to my hip, "Who the fuck are you?"

"I'm the girl whose parking spot you just stole! Move over one!"

Lobo glanced around the lot, seeing the spot right next to his truck, "Can't you just park there for today?"

"No I…" she trailed off, losing her steam though it was clear in her face that she wished she could keep yelling. She didn't continue, turning and stomping back to her car.

I glanced up at Lobo, giving him my signature smirk in response to his very alarmed and ashamed look, "Come on, we have to get to class."

And here be my chapter.
