Max is involved in this story, but you won't find out how until at least chapter four.


Amber crawled into the passage. What was she thinking? How could one bird girl bring down the Ninety-nine Percenters? Suddenly, she saw a pair of blue eyes in the darkness. Hannah walked out of the darkness.

"My dad is even more into this Ninety-nine Percenter crap. I won't even call him my father anymore. I will call him by his first name, which is Jeb." Hannah said in a soft voice.

Her dark hair fell into her face, and she brushed it away as she told Amber how bad the Ninety-nine Percenter business had gotten at her house.

Amber jumped up at the sound of footsteps. She slapped her hand over Hannah's mouth as they ducked into a corner.

"Shhh. Do you want to get caught? Amber asked.

They noticed that the corner they were in could be separated from the rest of the labyrinth. They separated it, and Amber dug through her bag.

They were extremely bored while they waited until the Ninety-nine Percenters to go away, so they tried to think of things to do as they waited.
