'Who was on the phone?' Georgie asks as Elvis makes his way back into the bedroom where she is sitting in the rocking chair with Poppy fast asleep nestled in her arms.
'Boss… There's been an incident.' Elvis replies sitting down on the bed.
'What kind of incident?' She asks tilting her head to the side as he glances down at his phone.
'An attack. They don't have many details at the moment. It's literally an ongoing incident so they're just trying to get as many people to London as soon as they can.' He replies.
'Did they ask you to go?' She asks and he nods his head.
'I've told them it just isn't feasible with Poppy being only three days old.' He replies as she glances down at the infant.
'What did they say? Is it bad?' She asks causing him to sigh. She glances back up at him as he closes his eyes and nods his head.
'It's bad, Georgie. Details are still emerging but there is multiple casualties and most likely some fatalities.' He replies.
'You should go to London, Elvis… People need you.' She says and he shakes his head.
'I can't leave you on your own, Georgie. You're still recovering.' He says causing her to smile.
'I'll be fine, Elvis. I've given her a feed and now we'll probably just go to sleep. You can't do the night feeds anyway.' She replies shrugging her shoulders.
'That doesn't matter. You're still recovering, Georgie… What if something happens? I need to be here.' He says.
'Elvis, I'm telling you to go. I would be there if I could; this is what we signed up for, wasn't it? To help people and those people need your help. Your team need your help.' She replies causing him to sigh.
'I just- I don't feel comfortable doing it.' He says.
'I'll phone Marie and see if she's busy.' She replies as he glances back down at his phone.
'Are you sure?' He asks and she nods her head.
'Go do your job, Elvis… Just make sure you come back to us, yeah?' She says and he smiles. Leaning forward he kisses the top of her head before running his finger down Poppy's cheek.
'I will… Don't watch the news whilst I'm out; try get some sleep.' He replies.
'It's crazy to think that you were in your mummy's tummy in a complete warzone filled with hate.' Marie says softly as she glances down at Poppy who is curled up in her arms.
'Oh don't… I still feel guilty that I didn't realise sooner. The things that could've happened.' Georgie replies shaking her head.
'You have nothing to feel guilty about, Georgie. You weren't to know that you were pregnant, were you? You had no signs or symptoms that this little lady was planning on making an appearance.' Marie says causing Georgie to sigh.
'I know but it doesn't stop me feeling a bit guilty.' Georgie replies glancing up at the TV.
'Breaking News! Police have confirmed that they are treating the incident in London as a terror attack. At the moment there is reportedly 8 fatalities and a large number of people injured.'
'You okay?' Marie asks softly reaching her free hand out and placing it on Georgie's knee.
'Mmm… It's gonna be a long night, I think.' Georgie replies keeping her eyes locked on the tv screen as Poppy starts to whimper.
'I think someone needs her mummy.' Marie says and Georgie smiles slightly.
'Or someone needs her Auntie Marie to do her first nappy change.' Georgie replies turning to face Marie who instantly shakes her head.
'Nope, I can't… That's a job for mummy.' Marie says smiling as she hands the baby to Georgie.
'Come on then, little lady… Let's get that smelly bum changed.' Georgie mumbles as she climbs out of bed with the little girl.
'Does this not make you so anxious? Do you want me to turn it off?' Marie asks gesturing to the tv as Georgie begins to change Poppy's nappy.
'No; it does make me nervous but I'd rather know what was happening, know what Elvis is facing than be completely clueless.' Georgie admits smiling down at the little girl on the changing mat in front of her.
'Have you decided what you want to do about the army? You still planning to go on tours?' Marie asks.
'I don't know. I used to think that I'd tour for as long as I was physically able to. Part of the reason I was so hesitant to marry Jamie, aside from the fact I love Elvis, was because he wanted me to leave the army. Now I just look at her little face and wonder how the fuck I'm supposed to leave her. I mean how can I put my life at risk and possibly leave her to grow up without a mum?' Georgie replies.
'It's a tough decision… Can you not go into training or anything?' Marie asks and Georgie shrugs her shoulders.
'I've not really looked into it that much.' Georgie replies. She lifts Poppy back into her arms and makes her way over to the bed.
'Why don't you try get some sleep? You must be exhausted.' Marie says watching her sister place Poppy in the co-sleeper before climbing back into bed.
'Mmm… I'll never be able to sleep. Not with everything going on.' Georgie mumbles. Grabbing her phone off the bedside table she glances down at it before choosing to compose a new message.
To Elvis :
I love you… Don't be a hero, make sure you come home. We need you xxx
