A/N: As promised, here is the first chapter. I don't have anything else to say, so I'll go straight to the reviews:
Guest: Why thank you. It's a work in progress but I'll get better as the story progresses. So stay tuned for more.
SaiyanV500: *sighs* And here comes a fanboy. Look, I'm already aware about Gohan's reasons 'cause I watched the damn shows! I won't spoil the story but let's just say that there's more to Jason's story, so you'll have to see for yourself. Also, that was a prologue, so it didn't involve the Toaru characters. Otherwise bringing them in would've been off. This next chapter, however, will introduce some of the simple main characters of the Toaru side. *holds out his hand in Hakai position* Just a warning though, don't tell me how to do my job as a writer or I won't hesitate to make you into a character and destroy you completely from existence without story development.
Now that the reviews are out of the way, enjoy the chapter.
Chapter 1: Anniversaries
Present Day…
Academy City
July 19
Afternoon
It is the year 2020. Approximately nine months have passed since World War III ended. Earth was at peace once again. Though the war would not have ended if it weren't for the actions of a misfortunate boy who has no reason as to why he wants to help people. His name is Touma Kamijou, and he's taking a walk with a certain nun safeguarding the 103,000 grimoires stored within her head.
"Honestly, Index, can't you just be patient for a little longer? The food's not going anywhere." Touma laments at the hungry nun for her huge appetite.
"Touma! I was starving all morning, and you just left before I even woke up!" The nun known as Index Librorum Prohibitorum (which translates to 'List of Prohibited Books' in Latin) angrily states.
"Jeez, I'm sorry. I forgot. I overslept and was already running late for the last day of the first term." He apologizes in his usual bored tone. "I can't believe I'm having this tiring argument with you again."
Index pouts at his somewhat lazy demeanor. "It's your own fault for not making sure to set your alarm clock."
"Hey, I'm not the one who took the entire bed for herself! Plus, I've been sleeping in a bath tub! Just lay off of me, will you?! I already got enough problems as it is for the past year!"
Index gives him a death stare for a moment before changing the topic. "That reminds me, tomorrow's our anniversary!"
"Huh?" The unlucky boy asks in confusion. "What anniversary? We're not even a couple."
Index blushes in embarrassment and anger for casually saying that to her. "I was talking about the anniversary of how we first met, stupid Touma! You know, the day when you got involved with the magic side and later saved my me?"
Touma realizes his mistake and sheepishly chuckles. "Ah! R-Right! My bad! So a whole year, huh? Time sure goes by really fast."
"Oh, I know! Why don't celebrate it at home? That way, we can save the rest of the food money at Julian's!" She says before running ahead of him back at the dormitory.
Touma eyes widen at this. "A homemade dinner at home? C-Could this be a change of my luck?!"
Unfortunately for him, an empty soda can block his path and Touma unknowingly steps on top of it, falling on his backside hard.
"Rotten Luck." He laments his infamous catchphrase.

Joseph's Coffee and Restaurant
Meanwhile in another part of Academy City's 7th School District, a certain group of friends are enjoying their parfaits and having a great time as their first term of the new school year has ended and the start of summer vacation is just around the corner. While eating, one of the girls decided to bring up an urban legend she has recently found and wanted to share it with her friends.
"So, I got another urban legend you might find interesting. It says here that there were sightings of a giant gorilla monster in places such as the Himalayas, the U.S., and even the Middle East." The girl known as Ruiko Saten explains.
"Please, that sounds ridiculous, Saten. How do we even know if this is true? It's probably a campfire story to scare children at night." The Level 4 Teleporter Kuroko Shirai says in disbelief.
"But these ARE confirmed sources! Eye witnesses saw this creature rampaging at night once a month during a full moon! They even took a picture of it! Here, look! The photo's blurry so it's hard to make out of."
Her three friends take a look at the different photos on her phone as they are truly hard to make out whatever is on each of the photos. However, these photos look to be old dating back in the late 1980s.
"Saten, have you had the time to at least check when these photos were taken? They seem to be nearly 40 years old." The Level 5 Electromaster Mikoto Misaka (otherwise known as the Railgun) points out to the rumor/urban legend hunter.
Saten's eyes widen and realizes she forgot to double check the photos' timestamps. After taking another look, she then corrects her finding to her friends. "Well, this urban legend has been around much longer than the ones we've been hearing about. Plus, these photos were taken some time in 1983. However, when I took another look at them, the last known photo was taken in 1987."
"But were there any more photos after '87?" Her best friend, Kazari Uiharu, asks.
Saten shakes her head in disappointment. "No. It just… didn't make anymore appearances during a full moon. After a few days, everyone forgot about it. *sighs* That's a bummer. I would've liked to see better quality on these pictures and have the confirmed sources to be true. But this Academy City. Everyone here finds it to be total nonsense. No offense, guys."
"There were a few times like the Level Upper or those Indian Poker cards." Misaka refers to before mentally lamenting about how her breasts are still small. "And I've never found that damn Bust Upper card! Does everywhere I go becomes boob country?! Not to mention Saten – who's a year younger than me – has somewhat of a larger chest than mine!"
Soon, her friends notice Misaka giving off an envious dark aura as the Railgun continues to eat her parfait out of sheer jealously.
"Um, are you okay, Sissy? You're acting weird right now." Kuroko asks her roommate and best friend.
Misaka snaps out of her thoughts and gives her friends a nervous expression. "N-Nothing! It's not like I'm jealous about anything! *laughs nervously*."
Kuroko and the other girls give her a raised eyebrow at her behavior before shrugging it off.
"Speaking of which, it's been a year since we had our first adventure together." Uiharu changes the topic.
"Oh yeah, I forgot about that! This is the place where Kuroko introduced me to you two! Well, more like Uiharu since Saten tagged along with her, but still!"
"Yeah. Our first adventure was the Level Upper incident. It was the adventure that taught me the most important lesson I learned when I was desperate for an ability like you guys. And I'm glad that made some of the most friends I have here in Academy City. Thank you for being there for me." Saten smiles with joy.
"You don't need to thank us, Saten. That's what friends are for." Kuroko assures her with a returning smile.
"And no matter what, we'll always be friends forever." Uiharu agrees with her partner in Judgement.
Misaka then raises her parfait up. "To our friendship then."
Kuroko, Uiharu, and Saten then nod and raise theirs up to collide with Misaka's.
"To friendship." The three of the four girls agree with her with smiles of their own.
Elsewhere…
A familiar looking young man, now 15, walks through the forest. Today, was the anniversary of his parents' deaths. That was many, many years ago. How is he a teenager when he's supposed to be older?
When Jason had returned to his home dimension, he was shocked to learn that he's been gone for almost thirty years. With no way to change the past before going missing, he was forced to adapt with the new era he's in.
"At least the food hasn't change while I was away, given that three years is equivalent to three decades. At least, if I were to be sent back to the point in time I was gone, then it'd been possible that I wouldn't be displaced out of my own time." He sighs at the ups and downs of interdimensional time travel.
As for having a normal life, it was almost impossible for him. When his parents were murdered in this forest, he was already on the run when he became a Great Ape during the full moon and lost control of his Saiyan instincts, destroying anything in his path. Each time dawn breaks, Jason couldn't remember anything he did those nights before. And to make matters worse, he was on the U.S. military's most wanted list, despite once being a five-year-old innocent boy that goes on a rampage as a giant gorilla. So he left. Left the life he had, left America, left it all behind. He spent the next six years looking for a way to start over, but due to not having any official ID considering he's a minor, he didn't want military forces in some of the places he's travelled to paint a target on his back. Eventually, he ended up in the middle of the Arctic and decided to drown himself in the freezing ocean, wanting to end the suffering he had. As fate would have it, a supernatural anomaly whisked the eleven-year-old away to another dimension as the water pressure overwhelmed him in his attempt of suicide. When he woke up, he was brought back to health by the Time Patrol and was even recruited due to his latent potential as a warrior. After that, well… you know the rest. (his story as a Time Patroller continues in Xenoverse 2 and Universal Conflict Saga)
Walking to the graves of his parents, he placed a bouquet of flowers on their shared burial spot.
"I wasn't there to save you both. If only I were able to go back in time and prevent your deaths, I could. But I guess that's not how time travel really works unless connecting a gateway between two eras can. I know you wanted the best for me. To live a simple life. I guess that was all taken away when that evil bastard…" His voice cracks as he shed a few tears. "I'm sorry my life didn't turn out the way it did. But no matter what, I'll do what I can to help those in need. I will. Whatever it takes. And one day, I hope in my heart that we'll meet again. In one life or the next. Take care, mom and dad."
He then walks away and takes one last look. "I'll make you proud."
And so, the (former) Future Warrior levitates up and then flies away at full speed, emitting his base form's white aura in the night sky. Unbeknownst to him, he is being followed by an unknown.
(Time Skip)
Three hours went by as Jason already left the U.S. by flying westward. At least the military won't be hunting him down since he can get around the world much faster now thanks to his formal training with the Time Patrol. Although he hasn't been training in the six months he's been here, he did have the spare time to at least catch up to what was going on the last time he was in his universe. From what he has read, there's war still happening in the Middle East, the events of 9/11 (including the destruction of the World Trade Center), the existence of internet and Wi-Fi, and the rich getting richer while the poor and middle classes are struggling to make a living. However, World War III caught his attention, lasting for approximately 2-3 weeks and it was a global conflict between Russia and Academy City. However, he wasn't able to get much information he needed as the data is either scarce or highly classified, giving him a suspicious look on his face.
"Hmph. I don't care either way. It's none of my business, so as long as I stay out of it, I'm good. Although, I'm not sure where I'm even going."
The Future Warrior's thoughts were soon interrupted when he senses a large amount ki really close by as he stops and hovers to look for the unknown energy. Before he could react, however, something stabbed from behind and Jason passes out from the suddenness, and his unconscious body begins freefalling.

"Man, all of that shopping makes me exhausted!" Misaka yawns with a hand over her mouth. The four girls have just exited the underground mall and have boarded the monorail to rest their legs from all the walking around.
"That's because you spend most of your time collecting those silly frog toys than buying things more appropriate for your age, Sissy." Kuroko deadpans.
Misaka's face turns slightly red, offended from her best friend's words. "H-hey! I do know what's appropriate in my age, considering your perverted attempts of putting those aphrodisiacs in my own drink! I'm lucky that I didn't take it, otherwise I would've zapped you later on when it wears off!"
Kuroko laughs sheepishly before lowering her head in shame. Saten and Uiharu shudder at that memory from their last summer vacation. Both the Sakugawa girls almost lost their virginities when Saten was unintentionally drugged with sun lotion the perverted lesbian tainted that was meant for Misaka. Not something to just forget and move on though.
"W-well maybe the things Misaka gets is a part of her character, Shirai. Plus, I it's been in her childhood and she cherishes it." Uiharu shares her opinion on what the Railgun buys.
Kuroko opens her mouth to argue but no words came out of it as she makes a valid point. "*grumbles* Fine. I can't say no to that."
"Well Uiharu and I are heading back to our dorms now, so it's already curfew." Saten informs the Tokiwadai girls.
"Right! See ya tomorrow!" Misaka and Kuroko wave at their friends taking one direction as they return to their own dorms in the other.
Sometime later as Uiharu and Saten cross A Certain Iron Railway Bridge, they notice something by the river.
"Hey, what's that down there?" Uiharu wonders.
"Let's go find out." Saten answers with curiosity in her blue eyes.
They made their way down the grassy area under the bridge they've just cross and when the girls were close, they noticed someone lying on the grass with his legs still in the water.
"Are you alright, sir?" Uiharu asks him.
However, they saw that he's severely bleeding and most of his blood is stained in the river and on the grass. This horrified the two girls and Uiharu crouches and place her fingers on his neck for a pulse.
"I-Is he-?" Saten asks her best friend in concern.
"He's still alive, but he's lost a lot of blood."
Saten sighs in relief, knowing that she's not in the mood to witness a dead person in front of her.
"*sighs* Right. In the meantime, I'll contact Anti-Skill and have them bring in an ambulance to get him to that certain hospital and quickly." Uiharu informs her as she places the green Judgement armband on her and contacts the authorities.
While waiting, Saten and Uiharu checked for the guy's ID. However, they found nothing on him except a white container in his jacket that seems to contain these strange mechanical pills with different colors and numbers on them. Saten decides to hold on to it for now and not mess with his stuff in respect. Other than that, both she and Uiharu notice the person's appearance. He has peach white skin and short jet black spikey hair that's straight out of a manga protagonist (like that Kamijou boy she and Uiharu met last September who seems to know Misaka and Kuroko, not to mention Misaka already having feelings for him) and he looks to be no older than 18 (keep in mind, readers, that they don't know he's technically 15 since his time in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber).
A little while later, both an ambulance and Anti-Skill arrived on the scene and with some help from the paramedics they decided to tag along, hoping that he'll be okay. But this raised them many questions: Who did this to him? Why would someone do this? And most importantly, who is this young man with no identification on him?
Heaven Canceller's Hospital
8:25 P.M.
Saten and Uiharu are sitting on a bench waiting for any news regarding the young man's condition. As they are waiting, a familiar looking Anti-Skill officer arrives from their left to tell them what she and her people have learned on their end.
"Well, from what me and the guys at HQ could look into, he doesn't have a personal record here in Academy City." The Anti-Skill officer (and high school gym teacher) Aiho Yomikawa informs the two girls.
"No record?" Uiharu wonders. "So he's not an Esper at all?"
Yomikawa shrugs. "We don't know yet. Either he's an illegal immigrant or an unregistered Esper."
Before they could speculate any further, a certain frog-faced doctor walks out of the young man's hospital room towards the three.
"How is he?" Saten asks the doctor with concern in her voice.
"The patient's gonna be okay." Heaven Canceller answers, receiving a sigh from the two teens. "The only injury he sustained was a piercing weapon, so I was able to stitch and bandage him back up."
"Seems to be Skill Out again." The older woman guesses.
"I wouldn't be too sure about that, miss Yomikawa."
"What do you mean?" Saten questions him in confusion.
"I think it's better if I just show you what I have on the X-rays I took on him." The old doctor says as he shows them X-ray images of the patient on his clipboard. "From what I analyzed; he suffered a minor internal burn from the same kind of piercing weapon that left him severely bleeding. However, it's something that even I never seen before."
"Like a minor cauterized wound left open?" Uiharu guesses.
"Correct, young lady." The doctor answers.
"Oh! Like a lightsaber! *realizes something* Wait, that's never been done before. Maybe it could be a heated knife that barely cauterized the wound?" Saten theorizes with excitement. "Miss Yomikawa, are there any Espers that could form laser swords from their hands?"
"I don't think there is one, unfortunately." The Anti-Skill officer shakes her head, disappointing the girl.
"But other than that, he seems to have an extra appendage attached to the back of his waist." The doctor continues the topic.
"Another appendage?" The Level 0 asks as she and the others' eyes widen in surprise.
"Before you start panicking, no, it's not an extra limb. It looks to be a tail of some kind. Monkey related no doubt."
"A monkey tail? *gasps* He could be that giant gorilla urban legend!"
"Saten, as much as we want to believe he's an urban legend, he's gotta be no older than eighteen. Plus, those old photos could be fake." Uiharu sweatdrops at her close friend's care-free personality.
"Why don't we ask him?" Saten suggests with a sly grin on her face.
"Just so you know, he's still unconscious and could be out till morning, so you'll have to wait if you're planning to talk to him." Informs the frog-faced doctor.
"Speaking of waiting, you two girls should head back to your dorms since it's already passed curfew. And don't worry about writing a report down at the Judgement office, Uiharu. I'll take care of things back at Anti-Skill." Yomikawa reminds them before walking down the hallway to an elevator. "Enjoy summer vacation."

Saten's Dorm Residence
9:00 PM
Saten is already in her sleepwear as she is looking at the white container's contents, curious as to what they are. However, she knows it's wrong to take it from him, so she decides to give it back to him in the morning at the hospital. Closing the small container, she then climbs into her bed and turns out the light.
"I wonder who he is. I hope I get to make another friend like Uiharu did with Haruue. Maybe I should repay him for bringing him to the hospital? Yeah! He'd probably like that!"
The girl then yawns in exhaustion and lies down before falling asleep.
In Another Part of Academy City…
An unknown figure stands on the rooftops looking at the city's beautiful skyline.
"I've searched for his body and yet the trail went cold down by that river. Just you wait, heathen. I'm coming for you."
To be Continued…
