Episode Summaries

Leech (1x12) – While on a class trip, Clark's powers get given to a regular classmate named Scott Summers – I mean, Eric Summers. Wrong X-Man. Eric proceeds to use Clark's powers to become a local phenomenon, while Clark is literally ecstatic about getting to be a normal guy (though royally peeved that all his fears about being found out were apparently baseless). Then Eric becomes a douche and starts using his powers to get people to do whatever he wants. The whole town, including his parents, turn on him. He attempts committing suicide by jumping off the bridge where he got his powers, but no go. Clark uses Lana's krypto necklace, and electricity from the Smallville power plant, to get his powers back from Eric. Meanwhile, Lex gets evidence that he really did hit Clark on that bridge and asks for Clark's honesty, saying they're friends and don't have to hide from each other. Clark blows him off like a dicknoggin. Later, Clark is injured by Eric and accuses Lex of visiting only to check it's not a hoax, while Lex apologizes for doubting him and hopes they can still be friends. Lex tells Roger Nixon, who collected the evidence together, that none of it can ever be seen by anyone else.

Vortex (2x01) – Roger Nixon, classic villain style, has ignored Lex's instructions and has collected tons more evidence that Clark is super human. While investigating the space ship during a tornado (like an idiot not from Kansas), he's seen by the Kents. Jonathan chases him out into the storm and they both end up trapped in a crypt under a fallen trailer. Jonathan tries to convince him to let Clark be and Nixon ain't having it. Meanwhile, Lex and his dad are injured in the explosive destruction of the mansion study. Lionel is much more heavily injured, but Lex saves him from dying. He decides to operate on his father to save his life but that ends with Lionel being blind and telling Lex he should've just let him die (ass). Lex helps Clark look for his dad, but Clark finds out Lex originally hired Nixon and is ticked. Lex still helps him find his dad and eventually is the one who kills Nixon to protect the Kents. Jonathan says yes to a 'new start' with Lex (and then never follows through).

Heat (2x02) – Clark develops heat vision when his license-revoking-ly-scantily-clad new teacher shows his class a sex ed video. Also, hey hey, guess what, Lex fell in love in the 2 weeks he was away from Smallville (and Clark), and it's with said teacher! Clark is rightly baffled by this. Lex and Desiree Atkins get married while Clark learns to control his boner vision (after lighting the Talon on fire, oops). Turns out Desiree has the ability to manipulate the pheromones of the male gender, making them do anything she says just to get her to have sex with them. She tries this on Clark and it fails horrifically. She then has him framed for arson, blowing up her own car. While he's in jail, Jonathan visits Desiree to ask her to drop the charges and she whammos him. Clark escapes jail and gets to Lex just in time to stop his dad from shooting Lex. Desiree lights Lex on fire, Clark stops her from escaping and then tackles Lex to the ground with a curtain to put the fire out. Lex is upset at his lack of control in the throes of passion and swears off it forever. Ha.

Duplicity (2x03) – The spaceship, which went missing in Vortex, shows up in a cornfield. Pete found it. He shows it to Clark, who plays it off but badly. He and Jonathan try to go steal it back from Pete, who wants to sell the story to the news, but it's already gone. Dr. Hamilton has stolen it, after getting its location from another person who saw it in the cornfield. Pete blames Clark for the theft, since he saw the Kent truck, and Clark reveals his powers to Pete to keep him quiet about it. Pete is peeved Clark didn't trust him and ditches. The Kents aren't happy Clark told him. Hamilton tells Lionel he's got the spaceship, and even shows it to him (tho Lionel is blind), after Lex fires him for being totally nuts and dangerously violent. Lionel tells Lex about the spaceship. Lex thinks he's going senile but agrees to have a look. Pete gets kidnapped because Lionel told Hamilton to find out how to open the ship to prove its value and Pete let it slip he knows the alien. Clark saves Pete by blundering in, revealing he's allergic to the meteor rocks, and Pete knocking Hamilton into a table with liquid kryptonite on it. The liquid drops on Hamilton, gives him Jitters x100, and he dies. By the time the Luthors arrive, Hamilton's body is gone and so is the ship. Pete forgives Clark for hiding the secret and the Kents accept him as one of their own.

Red (2x04) – The gang are shopping for class rings. Clark spends a bunch on a red one and surprise! It's Red K! He instantly gets an attitude, telling a new girl she looks hot, telling the new principal to buzz off, and somehow getting away with it. Jessie, the new girl, thinks this is all super sexy, while Clark's friends think it's totally weird. He also asks Lana out and she agrees. Then Clark spends a shit ton of money, maxing out the Kent family credit cards and emptying their bank accounts. He basically tells them their farm life of poverty sucks and beats it to Luthor mansion, where he sets off all of the kinks Lex didn't know he had, to ask to borrow Lex's Ferrari for his date. While out, he and Lana run into Jessie. Lana's not about the club scene so Clark dances with Jessie. This upsets Lana and she leaves. Clark starts a bar fight and wins in about two seconds, which makes Jessie panic. Clark decides to run away with Jessie to do whatever they want forever. Chloe finds out the rings are made of kryptonite. Pete tells the Kents. They tell Clark and he's like 'sweet, thanks, btw I'm leaving because you're not my Real Dad.' He goes to Lex and tells him that, with what he's 'capable of' he can do things Lex wouldn't dream of. Lex, intrigued, agrees to run away to Metropolis with him. They have apparently forgotten about Jessie? Lex leaves to prep but actually tells the Kents about Clark. Lionel shows up and Clark's a dick to him for Lex. Then an FBI agent appears, looking for Jessie. Clark learns that Jessie is carrying stuff worth millions and leaves to steal it from her. While trying, Jonathan and Pete somehow show up and break his ring, returning him to normal. Lionel comments on Clark's assertiveness to Lex, who looks appropriately concerned about this new development. Clark apologizes to his parents. Lana is still mad.

Skinwalker (2x10) – While dirt biking, Clark falls through the roof of a cave and finds cave art done by the local, previously unmentioned, Native American tribe: the Kawatche. The caves are part of their heritage but a cave in hid these pictures from them for a hundred years (the art is like 500 years old, and this is apparently 'ancient'). A Kawatche girl (who's name I've forgotten, uh, it starts with a K?) explains the entire legend of Naman to him (he fell from the sky in a rain of fire, has amazing abilities like he can shoot fire from his eyes, has a brother that will become his nemesis, the bringer of all darkness, but he will prevail and save the whole world) despite the fact that it's supposedly a 'lost' legend just now rediscovered and that no one can read the symbols on the walls (kryptonian). Lionel and Lex and other people who are trying to turn the caves into something banal for LuthorCorp (a parking garage I think?) keep getting threatened by a big white wolf. Everyone thinks it's K's grandfather, head of the Kawatche tribe, but it's actually K. Who's surprised? Not me. All our mains, including Lex, spend the episode trying to save the caves from destruction, with Clark doing the least of the work but getting most of the praise. There's a bit where he asks Lex for help and, when Lex seems hesitant, Clark says "I think I can find a way to persuade you" in this really innuendo laden voice that has Lex looking shocked and a bit frightened. K dies in the end. It's really a terrible episode of white people appropriating Native culture. But hey, Clark is probably an alien and there are legends about him. Moving on.

Insurgence (2x12) – Because Lionel keeps stealing shit from Lex (and LexCorp) due to having bugged the entire mansion, Lex hires a group of thugs to bug all the upper level offices of LuthorCorp. The Kent family is on the rocks because Martha now works for Lionel and is, like, always on call. But she loves her job. Lionel calls her in on a Sunday, her and Jonathan's anniversary (most likely on purpose due to the date, cause Lionel's an ass who's in love with Martha). Clark, trying to help mend the rift in his parents, asks Lex for help. Realizing people are in LuthorCorp, he calls his thugs to call the mission off. They kill his contact and take Lionel and Martha hostage in order to get into Lionel's GIANT office safe, hoping for money. Jonathan is peeved Lex would try and whisk him and his wife off to a fancy Metropolis restaurant for their anniversary, but then later apologizes and asks for help getting to Metropolis to be near Martha. Clark jumps from the Daily Planet building into the LuthorCorp building and saves the day. Martha finds out that Lionel has been investigating Clark and wants to quit, but the Kent men convince her to stay on to keep an eye on what Lionel is doing. Btw, Lionel's vault had no cash, just the octagonal disc that operates Clark's spaceship (Martha steals it) and a ton of refined kryptonite bars (idk why).

Suspect (2x13) – Lionel gets shot and is hospitalized. Jonathan is found in his truck a few streets over with alcohol and a gun matching the kind that shot Lionel and is arrested. Jonathan was also seen at a bar, and then there's evidence that he went to Lionel to threaten him about staying away from Martha (even tho last ep he was all for her being around him). He probably did it. But wait! Twist! Lex had the opportunity and motive to kill his dad, maybe he did it. But wait! Twist! Lionel's head minion, Dominic (who's appeared multiple times previously and who clearly hates Lex, and it's mutual) also had sufficient opportunity and motive to kill Lionel, so maybe he did it. Clark thinks Lex did it and framed his dad, cause he's a terrible friend. Clark and Pete investigate and are nearly blown up. They find the bartender who provided evidence against Jonathan dead in a freezer, and a photo of the barkeep with a bunch of friends, one of which is the town sheriff (gasp?). Turns out that Sheriff Ethan (who arrested Clark for arson in Heat and has appeared multiple other times) actually shot Lionel. This is apparently because Lionel is a dick and deserves to die? He then framed Jonathan for it because friendship is meaningless and everyone betrays you in the end. Clark apologizes for accusing Lex of being awful and they're friends again, yay.

Prodigal (2x15) – Lex finds his supposedly dead half brother, Lucas (who everyone thought Clark was in that one episode way before). He introduces him to Clark and Pete. Clark thinks he's a total asswipe, especially when he tries to cheat at basketball (and ends up hurting himself cause Clark's made of steel). Lionel disinherits Lex because he has Lucas to take his place. He found Lucas 3 weeks before Lex did and won him over with the promise of money money money and the news that Lex was gonna try and use him like a old wrench. Lex comes to live with the Kents and Jonathan makes him do tons of farm work, but Lex doesn't mind. He wants to prove that 'some Luthors pull their own weight' and refuses help. He also tries to convince Lucas that Lionel will never love him and is a grade A canoe, but it doesn't work. Lucas hates Clark for some reason, then Clark saves him from dying by hitman. Everyone blames Lionel for it. Figuring it won't be long til he's a Luthor again, Lex decides to leave Kent farm and thanks Jonathan for taking him in. Jonathan is knocked out by Lucas, who kidnaps Lex at gunpoint. Clark accuses Lionel of trying to kill his sons. Lucas tells Lionel he's got Lex and Lionel rushes to Metropolis to confront him. Clark follows. Lionel reveals he's not actually blind and Lex is ticked. Lucas tells him to kill Lex so he's the only heir. Lex tries to convince Lucas that doing so won't win him anything cause Lionel's a dick who kept Lucas from being adopted for 18 years and that they're both experiments. Lionel tries to kill Lucas but it turns out his gun is full of blanks. Clark super heats Lucas' hand to keep him from shooting either, but it turns out that both guns were blanks. Lionel is confused. Lex laughs, Lucas laughs, ha ha they tricked him. Now give back LexCorp, leave Lucas the hell alone, and shut up or we're gonna put you away for trying to murder your own kids. Clark escapes without ever being seen.

Rosetta (2x17) – Clark takes the octagonal disc, which his mom had hidden since Insurgence, and puts it in the cave wall. Knowledge of the Kryptonian language is downloaded into his brain. Lex finds him passed out in the caves. He's hired a linguist to try and decode the symbols. Clark keeps writing in kryptonian instead of English and then flipping out whenever someone asks about it. Lex thinks Clark can read the symbols (doesn't even ask how, just accepts that this is now a thing, hey Clark that's awesome, how about we work together? But Clark's an asshole and tells him he's imagining it). Clark burns the symbol for Hope into the side of the barn, Chloe takes a pic, and a scientist named Dr. Swann emails about it, saying he has the answers Clark's looking for. He gives Clark the message that came down to Earth with him and tells him Krypton is gone, says he's Clark's ally. Clark goes home and finds the thing the Kents found with the ship in ep 1, says it's the ship's heart, and replaces it. The ship then reveals a message from Jor-El. In the complete opposite vein from the message Dr. Swann received (and the cave art), this message tells Clark that he will rule Earth, rather than protect it. Clark is upset but Jonathan says he writes his own destiny. Clark doesn't appear to believe him.

Exodus (2x23) – Lex is getting married! Again. This time to a doctor named Helen, who has appeared in several episodes. Her and Lex's scene all season have been cringe worthy. They first met when Lex was a teen and she a student doctor, him puking all over the place, drunk off his ass, and had to be admitted to the hospital. They met over and over in anger management class (both participants) and at Smallville Medical Center, and agree that they're in love and seem to like each other (tho the chemistry between the actors is zilch). Clark is, again, Lex's best man. Clark and Lana start dating. Lionel warns Lex not to be hasty with marriage. The spaceship tells Clark he's going to submit to it, become Kal-El, and take over the world, like, NOW. The day of the wedding, the Kents go ahead and Jonathan gives Lex a compass (a Kent family tradition, he says, and Lex is visibly moved). Lana arrives, telling everyone that Clark is running late. Though Lex wants to wait for Clark, the Kents say go on with the wedding and leave. Clark steals a kryptonite version of the octagonal key from Lionel and uses it to blow up the spaceship, blowing up the entire storm cellar and causing a shockwave that flips the truck carrying the Kents. Martha suffers a miscarriage of the baby sister Clark was gonna get. Jonathan basically blames Clark for it (tho this is later claimed to be untrue, whatever). Lana goes to check on Clark at the farm but Clark, in shock, says everything is his fault, 'he' was right that people would suffer if Clark stayed in town, and that no one should ever get near him again. He steals a Red K ring from Chloe and escapes to Metropolis. Lex boards a private jet with Helen for their honeymoon, they drink champagne, and when he wakes up he's alone on the plane as it plummets into the sea.

Phoenix (3x02) – Clark returns from Metropolis, no longer high on Red K, and learns the farm is for sale. Lex escapes from the island and confronts his father as behind the plane crash. Lionel tells him Helen inherited everything when Lex died and Why would he kill his own son? Lex confronts Helen and she agrees to annul the marriage if he wants, but he doesn't answer. Clark isn't sure if he's gonna stay in Smallville or not, considering everything that's happened, but he lets all his friends know he's not missing anymore and apologizes to Lana for treating her like shit when she came to see him in Metropolis, and gives up on a relationship with her (for, like, 1 episode) because he feels he's just jerking her around. Lex visits Clark on the farm and hugs Clark like he's all the air, food, and shelter he'd ever need to survive. Lex confronts Helen again, says they should try their honeymoon again, that he's willing to let go of all his suspicions because he loves her. He then replays what happened on the plane the first time around while they're flying off for their second try. Helen tries to shoot him but in the scuffle, they shoot the pilot instead. Helen takes the only parachute and escapes (who knows what happened to her, she's never seen again). Lex pilots the plane to the ground. Lex agrees to go work for his dad again because he's realized that only someone raised by a bastard like Lionel could've survived on that island. He also buys the farm (not that way) and gives the deed to the Kents, saying all he wants in exchange is to be considered part of the family. Everyone is super smiley and the scene is very warm (too bad it comes to NOTHING). Clark decides to stay in Smallville. I honestly don't remember what else Clark was doing this episode.

Extinction (3x03) – Van McNulty is mad that his dad died in season 2 due to a meteor freak and takes Chloe's list of possible meteor freaks (they're all right) and starts assassinating them with a sniper rifle. Yadda yadda yadda, they find out he has the list and that Lex is the next name. Clark saves him. Lex ponders whether he's meteor affected and finds out he is. Van learns Clark is weak to meteor rocks and makes krypto bullets and shoots Clark, then tells Lana he's killed Clark so can she please help him escape the police (yep, the way to a girl's heart). The Kents get the bullet out and Clark lives, yay, so he can go help stop Van from killing more people. He's taken to an institution.

Shattered (3x08) – Lex finds all the evidence to prove that his father killed his grandparents to get their insurance money to start LuthorCorp. He gets his last info from Morgan Edge, a mob boss who hired Clark to steal from Lionel back when Clark was going around as Kal while on Red K. He and Lionel are actually buddies who worked together to kill the Luthors. That night, assassins break in through the sky lights in the mansion study, light the place up with gunfire, kill Lex's head of security, and chase him out into the hall, where Lex jumps through a stained glass window, down into the gardens below, and he runs off into the night. The next day Clark finds him hiding in the loft behind some boxes. Clark investigates but all is well at the mansion, no sign of issues, and the evidence Lex had in his personal safe is gone. Throughout the ep, Chloe and the Kents and Lana all hear about Lex's issues and think he's nuts. Clark tries to help Lex prove he's sane but every turn seems to show otherwise. They find out what drugs Lex has been on and, while Clark is checking if those could make a person seem nuts, leaves Lex with Lana. Lex suffers a paranoia bout and shoves her into a horse stall to get away. The horse tramples her and she nearly dies. Everyone blames Lex for trying to kill her because they're all assholes. Clark threatens the miraculously alive head of security, Darius, into admitting they drugged Lex into seeming insane and rushes to the supplier of said drugs, Morgan Edge. Lex has also discovered the location of Morgan Edge by threatening his dad at gunpoint and they both show up at the same time. Morgan carries kryptonite (after learning it was Clark's weakness in-PHOENIX! THAT'S WHAT CLARK WAS DOING IN THAT EPISODE! Morgan Edge tried to sell him to Lionel when they found out Clark's blood had unique properties. Clark blew up his truck and Lionel's security shot him and we all thought he was dead but No Body No Death) Lex thinks Clark is in on the drugging when Morgan suggests they're friends and is about to shoot Clark when he realizes Morgan's getting away. He gets in front of Morgan's car and empties his gun at it, killing Morgan. Clark shoves Lex out of the way and gets hit instead, totaling the car. Lex sees the whole thing. When people show up to take Lex to a mental institute (at his father's urging), Clark vanishes instead of saving him, because he's an asshole and a terrible friend.

Whisper (3x10) – While trying to stop a jewelry store robbery, Clark's heat vision bounces off kryptonite earrings, back into his eyes. He stops the robbery but goes blind too. Everyone treats him weird. His hearing gets super powerful, on and off. He hears Chloe talking to Lionel about investigating him and how Lex's job at LuthorCorp, if he goes back to work for his dad, will be to sit there and sharpen pencils. Martha begins prepping for a life with a blind child (special tutors and classes and accessibility stuff) while Jonathan refuses to accept that his son is now handicapped (cause Clark learned to be a dick from somewhere). Lex visits Clark and offers him doctors but Clark turns him down and warns him about his dad's job offer. Not wanting to expose Clark to his dad, Lex lets his dad assume that Lex heard about it from Chloe's dad, who would've heard about it from Chloe. Chloe's dad is fired from the plant and Chloe is fired from the Daily Planet, where she had a column (thanks in part to Lionel, in exchange for dirt on Clark). Chloe comes to see Clark, who blows up at her for investigating him, and their friendship is over. Pete is kidnapped by the robber's accomplice and almost dies except that Clark uses his super hearing to find and save him. His vision is restored when the accomplice runs a blow torch over them multiple times. Clark also tries to get back with Lana again this episode, but she's got a new bf (who will later turn out to be a murderer, like everyone else, but what's new) so she turns him down, though she cries about it afterward.

Delete (3x11) – Lex works hard, overnight even, at LuthorCorp and meets an attractive woman in the IT department. Clark tries to run Chloe over with his truck, then has no memory of it. She thinks it's because of their fight the ep before but they find out he got a weird email and blacked out. All the computers at the Torch (donated by Lionel) are taken back. Lana tries to kill Chloe at school but her bf stops her with kung fu (which he then denies knowing). She got a strange email too just before. They ask Lex to protect her since she doesn't have his email address and so he can't be hypnotized into killing her. Separately, Lex and Clark both realize it's a woman named Molly Giggs doing this. She's a sociopath who was being treated at Summerholt Institute for sciences related to the brain. Chloe was investigating S.I. for a Planet article that was never published and Molly is trying to kill her because she is undyingly loyal to Dr. Garner, who worked with her there and who is now her boss. Lex says of course she's nuts, he's attracted to her and that's his lot. She doesn't put up a fight, but Lex finds out she sent the Kents an email before they caught her, so Clark rushes to stop his parents from killing Chloe. Lex asks Dr. Garner to treat him so he can remember the weeks he lost when his dad gave him electroshock therapy (the reason why he doesn't remember he saw Clark catch a car or that his dad killed his grandparents). Chloe says she felt she deserved the attacks because she keeps digging into everyone's business. Clark denies this, good friend. She promises to stop digging into Clark and trying to figure him out and they're friends again.

Truth (3x18) – Chloe, while investigating at LuthorCorp on why her dad has been blacklisted from everywhere, gets doused in a green mist. It gives her the power to ask anyone anything and they'll answer. Pete tells her Clark can run to Metropolis and back in ten minutes (it's a 6 hour drive) but they play it off as a joke. Martha reveals that Jonathan isn't handling his new heart problems well and that Clark blames himself because of what his birth father put them through, though they say it was metaphorically. A jock admits he's gay. A cheerleader says she hates their teams cause they always lose. A girl admits to stealing the answers to a test everyone else failed. The teacher of the year admits her greatest regret is that she drove the getaway car in a robbery-cum-homicide back in her early 20s and is arrested. Chloe asks Clark his secret and he's angry. Lex admits that all he ever wanted was his father's love. Lana admits she's applied to school in Paris, doesn't consider Chloe family, and that no one likes Chloe now that she's going around blowing everyone's secrets. Pete admits he's always loved Chloe, then runs off. Chloe starts getting headaches. Lionel admits to killing his parents and blacklisting Chloe's father, which she stupidly shows him she recorded on her phone. Lionel blackmails her in return and she goes to ask the Kents about Clark, but crashes her car. Clark gets the antidote and saves her. She apologizes for being a major ass while infected. Lionel asks why Lex revived the Levitas project (to regain his memories) and what he's hoping to gain from it, but Lex evades the question (he says he'll never get what he wants, which is sad considering he's alluding to Lionel's love).

Forsaken (3x21) – Lana is leaving for Paris when a clone of her childhood friend, still looking like she did back then, tries to keep her with her forever. Literally all you need to know is that Lana leaves for Paris and Lex says goodbye to her at the airport. Clark sees this, gets sad, and leaves without saying goodbye to her. Pete moves to Witchita. Lex tells him that Clark was right to trust Pete with his secret rather than Lex because Pete is a better friend. Oh, and Lionel gets arrested for murdering his parents at this point in the show, rather than much earlier like in the fic.

Crusade (4x01) – Clark returns from being sucked into the wall of the Kawatche caves by his dad. He has no memory of himself and goes by Kal-El and is only interested in fulfilling the destiny Jor-El gave to him (ruling the Earth). Lex is….you know what, I don't remember. I know he's, for some reason, in Egypt looking into stuff related to Krypton without knowing that's what he's doing and he finds the Crystal of Fire inside an ancient statue. On the way home, the statue breaks due to severe turbulence, activating the crystal. In Smallville, Clark hears the activation tone and flies to the plane, rips the door off, calls the stone to him with telekinesis, and flies away. Dr. Swann's assistant gives Martha black kryptonite, which she uses to split Clark and Kal-El in two. They briefly fight for control and then Martha throws Clark the black kryptonite and they merge together again, with Clark in control. This episode also introduced Lois Lane, Chloe's cousin, who first met Clark when he crashed into a field by her car and walked over to her butt naked and unashamed.

Transference (4x06) – Clark stops Lionel from switching bodies with Lex but gets switched with Lionel himself instead. Lionel causes grief for everyone, learning all of Clark's powers and nearly killing Lex for money (57 million), also ending all of Clark's remaining friendships (and also perving on his mom, ew). Except Lex, though at this point they hardly trust each other anyway and Clark's done nothing but gaslight Lex at every possible moment so whatever.

Blank (4x19) – Clark gets his memories wiped by a guy who stole from the Talon (come to think of it, why did he do this?). Chloe learns all of Clark's secrets/powers and walks Clark through relearning himself and why it's important to keep his powers hidden. Lex is skeevy. It's an episode where Clark doesn't lie even once the whole time and it's super refreshing. Because he knows Clark's a lying asshole, Lex steals a sketch of the caves from the loft. Clark promises Lana things will be different between them 'this time' even though she's currently in a very loving relationship with an older guy named Jason, and they both know about it (Clark learned about it in Transference, everyone else learned later when Lex exposed them) They return Clark's memories, erase everyone else's (they saw him use super strength), and the thief-who-is-actually-a-good-guy disappears into the distance to have some kind of new shot at life or whatever. Clark and Lex don't trust each other.

Sacred (4x15) – Jason and Lex go to China to find the Crystal of Air. Lana and Clark chase after them at Lionel's insistence (he's Good now, btw) and because they worry about their beaus. Lex and Jason are captured by the mob and tortured for info on the Crystal. Lana gets taken too and the witch that's possessed her body since Paris emerges to stop the pain, knocking out or killing everyone nearby (including Clark when he shows up, right in front of Lex and Jason too). She takes the map, finds the Crystal, but Clark fights her. After the witch is gone, the stone vanishes too (Jason actually picked it up but you don't find that out for a bit) and they all go home.

The Stones of Power

Kryptonian crystals containing all the known knowledge of the 28 galaxies

Crystal of Fire – A clear stone with the Kryptonian symbol for "P" (why?) on it that Lex found in Egypt. It has the ability to return a Kryptonian's powers if they've been lost and to break magic spells. Clark gets this one while Kal-El, easy peasy.

Crystal of Water – A black stone with the Kryptonian symbol for 'water' on it that was found in Honduras and given to Lionel Luthor. It has the ability to transpose the essences of two beings into each other's bodies. Why is this a thing? Who knows. This one passes hands a lot and people die before Clark gets it.

Crystal of Air – A silver stone with the symbol of the House of El on one side, and the Kryptonian symbol for 'air' on the other that was found in China by, like honestly, Clark, Lex, Jason, Lana, an entire Chinese mob, and the witch inhabiting Lana's body. It seems able to protect itself and summoned the second meteor shower when touched by human blood. It was used a murder weapon before Clark got it back.

The Crystal of Knowledge – a five-sided Kryptonian crystal that can be used to create the Fortress of Solitude. The crystal contains all the knowledge of the planet Krypton and all the knowledge of the universe gathered by Kryptonians.

Character Guide

In order of appearance (in show and fic)

Eric Summers – the geeky, glasses wearing Iceman. He gets Clark's powers by holding some kryptonite while standing on a bridge and falling, Clark catching him, just as they're struck by lightning. He lets the powers turn him into a total douche nozzle and Clark steals the powers back by holding Lana's necklace and Eric while grabbing a live wire from the Smallville power plant. He was committed and never seen again.

Desiree Atkins – Lex's first wife. She was having sex during the first meteor shower and got super pheromone powers because of it. She whammo'd Lex for 2 weeks, getting him to turn his back on everyone else including Clark and rip up the pre-nup papers. As soon as they were married, she tried to have Clark kill Lex but zip happened, so she used Clark's dad instead. Clark melted the bullet meant for Lex, fried the door handle to fry Desiree's hand, and jumped Lex to put out the fire Desiree had lit on his back in a second attempt to kill him. She was arrested and never seen again.

Dr. Hamilton – a scientist who was doing experiments on LexCorp dollars into the effects the meteors have on people. Basically, several episodes are because he's a asswipe who doesn't do as he's told and kept experimenting on other shit. He dies shortly after learning Clark's secret when a beaker of liquid kryptonite drips on him and gives him Jitters x100.

Jessie Brooks – a girl in the witness protection program. Her father was a corporate whistleblower. She was a 'bad girl' who ignored the dress code and loved Clark's Red K personality. He planned to run away with her to Metropolis, either with Lex along too, or he later decided to ditch her for Lex. It's unclear since they never got that far. He tried to steal the stuff her and her father were in the WPP for but Jonathan and Pete broke the Red K ring and he went good again. I have no idea what happened to her after this.

Sheriff Ethan – a cop that showed up in multiple episodes. He shot Lionel Luthor and tried to frame Jonathan, a high school friend of his, for the crime. His motives for shooting Lionel and for framing Jonathan are never really explained.

Lucas Dunleavy – Lex's half brother. His mother was Rachel Dunleavy, who originally thought Clark was her long lost son until proven otherwise. Lucas grew up in slums and back alleys, never being adopted and learning to take care of himself. Lex rescues him from a gambling fight and brings him to Smallville. He then betrays Lex for Lionel, then when Lionel convinces him Lex will do anything to get his stuff back he kidnaps Lex. He tricks Lionel into revealing he's no longer blind, and tries to have Lionel kill Lex. It's then revealed that Lex somehow got Lucas back on his side off screen because they both trick Lionel and walk away smug. Where'd he go after this? No one knows. Lex says he's 'under my protection,' whatever that means.

Dr. Virgil Swann – a rich paraplegic played by real life paraplegic Christopher Reeve – the original film Clark Kent/Superman. He has been studying the stars for most of his life, sure there is life out there. During the meteor shower, his instruments picked up a message. It took him years to decode it and then he spent the next 5-10 years wondering what happened to the child mentioned in the message. He is ecstatic to meet Clark and is an ally. He dies later (supposedly poisoned by a still-incarcerated Lionel, but really the actor died and they had to come up with something).

Van McNulty – a dick whose dad was killed by a mutant pretending to be Whitney (Lana's ex-bf) so he decided to kill all meteor freaks. He tries to kill Lex but Clark catches the bullet. This is how Lex figures out he's a mutant too, cause all Van's targets are mutants. He makes special bullets that will kill Clark and nearly does except that the Kents get the bullet out just in time. He was committed, appeared again to torture Clark in Asylum (when he tried to save Lex from having his memory shocked out of him), and died the same episode.

Darius – Lex's head of security. He drugged Lex's scotch so Lex would exhibit symptoms of a psychotic break, on orders from Lionel and from Lex's psychologist, Dr. Foster. He faked his own death to incite panic and a psyche break in Lex, then reappeared when Clark and Lex confront Dr. Foster about it, claiming the event never happened. Clark uses his super strength to get the truth out of Darius about what's going on after Lex goes AWOL. Current status: who the feck knows.

Dr. Foster – Lex's court appointed psychologist after he returns from the island and starts having violent outbursts, required if he wants the insurance money for his downed plane, months of pain and suffering, and medical care. She is paid by Lionel to drug Lex into a psychotic break as soon as he admits he's close to bringing his dad in for murder. Current whereabouts: idk.

Molly Griggs – a woman receiving care at Summerholt Institute (where everyone gets committed). When Chloe began investigating Summerholt for a Daily Planet article, she interviewed Molly. Molly, to protect the doctor in charge of the Institute, programmed a hypnotic…something, and put it into emails that she sent to Chloe's contact list. Lex has her committed….somewhere else? after they stop her from killing Chloe.

Jason Teague – Lana's boyfriend. She met him in Paris. He's played by Jensen Ackles. He coaches Clark's football team. Clark learns he and Lana are an item in Transference, when Lionel makes snide comments about the relationship to them and Lana asks for Clark's secrecy later. He loves Lana pretty unconditionally, but in the show his mom is like Lionel 2.0 and manipulates the shit out of him his whole life, making him pretty dark himself. He takes Lionel and Lex hostage trying to find the Stones of Power, then takes Martha and Jonathan hostage the next episode trying to find Clark, then gets killed in the second meteor shower mid-hostage situation.
