Sup.
Did you see this coming? Probably. I mean, it's me, isn't it? Maybe not after looking at chapter one, but it's here, and it's happening.
This isn't going to be a 100% SYOT, though, and won't be formatted as such, so I hope that doesn't put you off. Instead, it'll be written entirely in the POV of Ellis, my (child) own tribute. The tributes you submit will still be the tributes, they just won't have a POV of their own, if that makes sense? Similarly to how Katniss sees the other tributes, many still feature prominently, they just aren't main characters themselves. That's not to say that your tribute can't be a main character! I'll be looking for allies, and Ellis' district parter should have a very big role to! Not to mention, it's not just tributes I'm looking for. Their escorts, stylists and mentors are also people I'm very interested in finding, so please send some of those in!
Even if your tributes don't get into the games, that doesn't mean they won't be there. I'm planning this story to feature past just the games, and there'll be future Hunger Games and mentoring! In fact, the continuity ends when the books begin, and it ties very nicely into canon, so there's that to look forwards to ;)
The reason for this is that I can't write a SYOT properly. You authors must have a talent, but keeping track of so many tributes, and trying to make everyone happy is just way too much for me - I've tried, trust me. But I've always loved the premise, and hope that this will work! I've submitted enough myself, time to give back!
So, here are the rules:
1- You've gotta be okay with your tribute not being the main character. You can't PM me like: "I'm here to submit THE main character, and won't have it any other way", because odds are, I'll ignore your tribute completely. We already have a protag, and I'll be choosing who gets more of a limelight, and who doesn't. Don't worry, though, I'll be fair. Ellis is more observant than Katniss, so he'll be paying attention to everyone.
2- Please submit through PM. It's so much easier to keep track of.
3- Format your PM with the name of your character, and their role. For example [FIRSTNAME LASTNAME: District Seven Mentor] or something.
4- Even if you're not interested, please, share around! It's happened often that I've had literally no submissions (another reason why SYOTS don't really work for me, haha).
5- Make your kids creative! I love unique tributes! Just, not overly so. Volunteers from outer districts are hardly as common, and not everyone can use a weapon, or have a super tragic backstory. Find a balance.
6- Make the escorts and stylists creative, too! I'd love to see what people can come up with!
7- Have fun!
