I present to you- Chapter Two:
Tony rushed into the school in a cold sweat, millions of terrible scenarios ran through his head of why Peter was late, this kid is going to be the death of me.
All of this blissfully dissipated as said young man stumbled right into him, Tony couldn't hold back his relief, "Where the hell have you been! You missed your appointment and-"
Jesus, the kid looks like shit-
"…hey! Here, sit down on the ground, what happened, are you ok?"
The kid looked like well.. shit, sweaty, paranoid, Tony had to wonder if it was due to a missed dose of medication. But before he scolded the teen, Peter spoke, leaving Tony feeling uneasy once more.
Peter looked up to see his mentor staring down at him in concern, "Y-yea! I got d'ster- d'sted….dusted?" Why were words so hard to pronounce right now? Come to think of it, ever since Peter had woke up things just kept getting foggier. He sighed in frustration, his mouth feeling more and more like cotton by the second.
"Dusted? Kid- hey!" Tony caught the teen as he fell to the side- even in his sitting position he couldn't keep himself upright. "Alright, come on, let's get you in the car so Bruce can run some scans once we get back to the tower, alright?"
"Mhm."
An hour later and not much luck resided.
Bruce sighed as he looked over the test papers, "I ran the possible drugging through all my databases and got nothing Tony…what if it's his anti-depressants? Didn't he just start a new anti-psychotic to go with them? That could be affecting him. Or maybe it's the stress of everything getting to him?"
Running a hand over his face, Stark raised his hands in a shrugging motion, "I'll talk to him, but I'm at a loss, he seemed to be doing just fine this past week. This is out of nowhere."
"No! Get away!"
Tony and Bruce snapped a glance at each other before jogging to the next room over where Peter was currently cowering at the very far end of his hospital bed. His fear-stricken eyes landed on a young nurse by his bedside who looked just as scared as he was.
Peter grit his teeth as he neared her, "I said get away!"
It all happened too fast.
One swift punch and the nurse was out cold, Tony's heart dropped as the young woman hit the ground and Peter advanced towards her, rage in his eyes. "FRIDAY, restraint protocol ASAP."
Within mere seconds Peter was slammed back onto the hospital bed by flying machinery that wrapped around his limbs, he struggled desperately against the padded cuffs on his wrists, ankles and torso.
Bruce quickly set to calling a medical team to get the woman on a gurney and into the farthest locked medical room from Peter, all while Stark hesitantly put a hand on Peters forehead.
"Pete you gatta calm down and stop fighting, these things are a vibranium/titanium mixed metal, they aren't going to budge and I'm not allowing you to get out unt-"
"Get the fuck away! Get away from me!" Tears streamed down Peter's face as he started to twist his wrists making them pop and crack in such a way that nearly made Tony puke.
"Peter- stop it! You're hurting yourself! Jesus, alright- Bruce! He needs a sedative!"
"On it."
Tony jumped as the scientist rushed past him and immediately injected the heaviest and fastest acting sedative they had in the lab.
As soon as Peter was at peace Tony threw his hands in the air, "What the hell was that?! Did he- are his wrists ok? They popped a lot."
Bruce ran a hand through his hair, "I'll run the same rounds of test immediately and see if this might be a quick acting drug…Jesus, he broke one of his wrists too, I'll set that so it doesn't heal wrong…he must have been really scared of whatever he thought he saw."
The scientist stalked away with a new sample moments later, Peters wrist sat patched up as Tony paced, "FRIDAY run recordings on this room for the past ten minutes."
No such person ever showed up as Tony watched the videos carefully, Peter had come to and quickly retrieved his phone from his backpack beside his bed when the nurse came in to offer him water, Tony watched the way Peter froze in horror at her as he looked up. Clearly seeing something else. "What the hell…"
Tony replayed the recording once more then stopped it the second Peter was opening his bookbag in the video, nothing. Nothing but an annoying screech that resounded through the audio, it was barely audible, but the piercing sound was enough to drive one to madness.
"FRIDAY, cut that annoying audio out."
As Tony finished the video a chill ran down his spine, if this was a drugging then it was a scare tactic if he ever saw one, a petty way to gain control from afar, whoever was doing this was being consistent and likely had a plan of their next attack. Tony ran a hand over his face, his stomach turned as he thought about what psychopath Peter had managed to attract now. First the Vulture and now this, the kid just couldn't catch a break.
However, there was another sickening reality to the situation. If this wasn't a psychotic villain, then that meant it was in fact Peter cracking under pressure perhaps. Or the drugs that he had been taking, the ones that had been working so well, were making him lose it.
Both scenarios sucked ass in Tony's mind, neither offered much peace of mind. Running a hand over his beard he decided to go check on the results Bruce was likely just now getting from the tests. Peter would be out for a while anyways.
Or so Stark thought.
"No…no! Please God, No! Get away from me! You're dead! You're- you're all dead! I-I'm sorry….I'm so sorry- I tried to stop it!"
"Peter! Hey buddy, you're ok- you're-"
"Mr-MR. STARK!" Peter screamed. "NO!" The hospital bed wined under the intense amount of movement as Peters wrists started to bleed under the amount of pressure he was using to attempt to get out.
"P-Peter?" Tony backed away, his voice losing its value, his own breath hitched as Peter screamed and tried to get to the man. He couldn't take it. "FRIDAY! Release him now for Gods sake!"
As soon as the cuffs released him, Peter stumbled over and looked at the man in horror as he carefully pushed on Starks shoulders.
"L-lay down Mr. Stark. Lay down, you wont bleed as much if you just lay down."
Bleed? God, the kid was losing it.
"Pete, I'm- I'm not bleeding." All confidence and reason was lost as he stared back at the hysterical kid, he just wanted to make it go away for him.
Bruce's voice boomed through the room, "Tony! I found out what the drug was-wow, how is he awake?!"
Tony shivered at how malicious the teens eyes got in that moment, how complete desperation and sadness had turned into utter and complete hatred and rage.
"Pete, no.." Tony firmly held onto Peters shoulders and gently pushed him on his back on the cold floor, "That's Bruce, he's trying to help…who do you see?"
"It's a hydra soldier Mr. Stark! We have to attack no- h-he's coming up behind you! Please! You're already hurt, let me help you!"
By this time a crew of male nurses were at the ready outside of the small hospital styled room, prepared to hold the teen down.
"Peter listen to me, I don't want to have to sedate you again but if you don't calm down I have to. Ok?"
Fresh tears came quickly, "what's happening?! Why aren't you listening to me?"
His voice broke Tony's heart, he sounded so scared, so broken and unsure. He really did think all of this was real.
A new wave of determination washed over Peter as his pupils narrowed making Tony gulp.
"I know that you think this is real but look- just relax and-"
A quick shove was all the super powered teen needed to push Tony off and jump towards the group of people directly in front of him, he was quickly tackled to the ground by a miracle. Tony's staff were all expertly trained for any sort of combat.
Even having five men hold the boy down, it was a challenge to keep him contained, Bruce set to work quickly in injecting the next round of sedatives a bit hesitantly. It hadn't been long enough between the doses but nothing else would keep the boy safe from himself it seemed.
Tony watched from afar, a faint sound of FRIDAY speaking to him resounded. "Sir, I believe you are having a panic attack."
Thoughts? Reactions?
