So, this is a fictional marching band in the fictional Royal, Indiana. It is based off of my marching band and our competitions as told by me!
After running from the rain all day, the sun came out to watch the Pride of Royal perform their second festival performance. I smiled as I saw my father in the stands taking pictures and my mother watching from the sidelines. I got to set 0 and began to whisper to myself.
'Move 16, hold 8. Move 12 hold 4. You've got this Maxine...'
As the announcer asked the drum major were we ready, I glanced at my brother who was helping with the backdrop. He smiled at me.
"Dut! Dut! Dut! Dut!" Chelsea yelled out to start conducting.
Move 16, move 12, hold 4, move 16, hold 16, move 8, move 8, hold 16...
I pulled my hat off and gave the plume to a parent. I placed my drum in the case and closed it. David put it on the trailer for me since I had two injured knees; A pulled tendon in my right knee from overuse and a very bad cut on my left knee after taking a fall with my bass drum on before the start of the homecoming parade the other day.
I got onto the girls bus and stripped myself from the hot uniform.
"Woooh! Take it off!" joked Jasmine.
"Shut up," I blush. I put my uniform in the bag and button my parka around the uniform bag. I pulled on a pair of jeans over my shorts and my Pride of Royal band hoodie.
Joining with Amy, Zenique, Anna and Alex, we walk to the football field to watch the other bands perform before the awards. I saw Luke drive away from the school, eager to get to the homecoming dance today.
We stop at the concession stands and get hot cocoa and coffee then take our seats in the bleachers. After watching the other 3 bands, it was time for awards.
"The Pride of Royal marching band receives a gold rating!" Exclaimed the announcer. On the count of three, we all stood up and shouted, "Beast mode!"
"They also receive a Music Achievement award!"
With only the first 4 sets of our last song on the field and our dance moves yet to be added, the Pride of Royal should definitely go far this year.
