He had vivid memories of events that changed his life forever. His first memory being the blinding hot pain of his markings being etched into his skin. He remembered the murder of Hadriana and the somehow empty, unsatisfying slaughter of his former master Danarius. He remembered the first time he ever met Hawke and stared into her glowing sapphire eyes. He remembered the pure ectasy and unbearable passion he felt the first time he and Hawke had made love. And he remembered the intense relief and absolute joy he felt when Hawke had said she loved him.
Fenris also remembers the one time he ever regretted being proven right. The time the viper dug its fangs into the only person that ever trusted them.
Fenris would never forget the day Anders destroyed the chantry - the day he betrayed Hawke. He could never forget the look of hurt and betrayal that mangled Hawke's sweet face. Her eyebrows had scrunched together too tightly, her lips parted ever so slightly, and her eyes glinted with unshed tears as she gazed at the aftermath of the ruby red explosion.
"There can be no peace," Anders had said. Those words shattered any and all trust Hawke had ever had for a man she had once called friend. A friend who had saved her brother's life in the Deep Roads. A friend who had played infinite games of Wicked Grace with everyone she held dear. A friend who comforted her when her mother had been taken from her. A friend who ultimately used her to plant a bloody bomb in the only place of peace in the entire city of Kirkwall.
A friend who stabbed her in the back. And in the end, she returned the favour.
A/N: I wanted to write a "Fenris comforting Hawke" fanfic, but this seemed more true to how I imagine my FenHawke relationship.
Disclaimer: I don't own Fenris or Hawke or any Dragon Age things.
