Chapter 2

Zach's P.O.V.

"Rona!" I yelled when I reached the cliff's edge. Her body fell in what seemed like slow motion. Then, she had disappeared.

"Rona?!" I called down to where she had been moments responded.

"Ah!" I cried out in agony before everything went bright, almost like the sun's light.

"What the…" I trailed off as the realization dawned on me. I… was riding…a…freaking…dragon! It's maroon scales glittered in the sunlight. Oh man was it bright, I could barely see through its yellow rays.

A deep voice rumbled in my head 'Hold on." Then, before I had time to get a grip, we were plummeted down. The only thought that was racing through my head was 'Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap, a dragon, a freaking dragon, I am on a dragon.' The dragon chuckled 'I see you are new to this.' I nodded mutely, still too afraid to trust what would come out of my mouth.

It spiraled back towards where I had fallen. In the moment of silence that followed, I thought 'Does this mean everything mythical is real?'

It didn't respond. The dragon landed at the bottom of the cliff with a small snort. "Be safe." It roared before disappearing back into the sky.

I looked up a tad dumbfounded "Well, crap… how am I going to get back up…"

I groaned in pain "What happened."

A woman's voice answered my question "The New York Institute, of course." My puzzled look must have told her a lot.

"You don't know anything? Oh dear." She felt my forehead "Well, we better start with the basics… You, my friend, are something far greater than anybody has ever seen." She cut off as a man burst through the doors on the other side. He was gasping for breath when he panted"Wrong one… Not the one…." The lady raised an eyebrow curiously "Then why did it let him in?"

He replied almost instantaneously "I don't know."

I shifted upwards "Exactly what let me in?"

Both of them huddled together and began to whisper hurringly. After about a minute of bickering, they separated and the woman cleared her throat "Let me ask you this, do you believe in mythical beings?"

I laughed "Are you serious? What, like a dragon is just going to crash through the roof?"

Before the woman could reply, a loud crash echoed through the room. The lady smiled quirkily "And one just did."
