"It is good to see you once again, fine students," said Professor Port with a loud, happy voice. "And welcome to those who have now joined us. I trust you all had an excellent break and are ready and raring to learn once more about our prey?" The students were all quiet, either unsure or unwilling to answer the question asked. "Uhh...and ready we must be! For our enemy is restless, relentless, and forever on the prowl for unprepared morsels. Even in the comfort of our very homes, even in our most private of moments, the creatures of Grimm are always lurking around and may strike when we least expect it. And I should know as I myself have been ambushed on multiple occasions. One of the most momentous encounters I recall..." A collective groan from nearly every student echoed through the lecture hall, though the professor was too lost in his grand tale to hear. The story lasted quite a while…about the entirety of the class that is, until Port came to his last few lines. "…Lo and behold, with one final mighty swing, the day was mine and my foe was defeated." By the story's end, what remainder students that hadn't fallen asleep all gave a sigh of thanks that 'story time' was over. "With my victory over the great beast also came a valuable lesson that I would not forget. A lesson that I'm sure you all have gained through the telling of my historic feat."
"That the Grimm have some animalistic instincts and habits similar to animals," Cameron responded.
"Quite so, young man!" Port replied with enthusiasm. "For as vicious and violent our prey may be, their habits and nature are believed to be like those of their animal counterparts. For example, a bear has a great sense of smell of sweet foods such as honey. An Ursa would have a similar if not identical sense of smell for such sweets treats. Beowolves tend to move in packs, are typically lead by an alpha and group up on their foes as regular wolves would. Remember students, even the smallest relation to an old enemy can make the unknown known and predictable."
"And with similarities come weaknesses and exploits."
"Precisely! And in the life of a huntsman or huntress, every weakness and exploit is an advantage to be used."
"If I may ask a question, sir?"
"Of course! There are no such things as stupid questions. Ask away, young man."
"What would be a Banenyx's weakness then?"
"Ooh, the lord's nightmare. An interesting foe indeed. Unfortunately, I cannot say I've had the pleasure of encountering one, but the few survivors that have noted that the creature would take the form of one's darkest fears, using it as a weapon against them. When the creature does indeed reveal it's true form, they are seen as humanoid monsters, nimble and eager for the kill. The only true way to defeat one is to overcome the fear it presents itself as."
"So it comes down to one's courage."
"Sadly yes. Though the Banenyx is a rare creature to be seen, only being recorded existing in places of absolute despair and darkness."
"But better to be prepared than sorry."
"Indeed. Quite an excellent question, Mr...?"
"Huynh, sir."
"Ah, a new student. Well, perhaps you may learn how to defeat one such prize once you graduate." The bell rang and people began to move. "Well, doesn't time fly. Class dismissed!"
"Wait, there was a lesson to his story?" Yang wondered as she woke from her power nap.
"You're in school, Yang!" Weiss scolded. "Of course there's a lesson to the professor's story!"
"Surprised you didn't say the answer miss overachiever," Ruby yawned.
"I...was just giving others the opportunity to answer. Can't always have the spotlight."
"Riiiiiiiight..."
Later that day, cut to Beacon Arena…
"What a day already," said Ruby, somewhat exhausted. "Well, at least we have an enjoyable class now."
"Yeah!" said Yang, punching her fists together. "Back to the ass-kicking!"
"And at the new sim that they have too," said Blake. "They say it can simulate any situation and any Grimm creature."
"Correct," Weiss said. "Any and every Grimm known so far can be simulated alongside virtually any scenario a hunter may face. If you can think it, it can make it."
"Oh, that's so cool!" Ruby exclaimed. "I can't wait to use it."
"Gather around, students!" called Professor Goodwitch. "I'm sure you've had your share of welcomes today, but now it's time to get serious. Today, you will all be the first group to try the new arena simulator." The students murmured to each other for a few seconds. "I'm sure you're all excited to use it, but before we proceed, I'd like to introduce you to your new combat teacher."
"New teacher?" Weiss wondered.
"Ladies and gentlemen, please meet Professor Branwen." A scruffy looking man appeared from behind Goodwitch.
"How ya doin', kids?" the man said with a grin.
"Uncle Qrow!" Ruby cheered upon seeing her uncle.
"Professor Branwen has transferred here from Signal Academy. As I said before, he is your new combat teacher."
"What's happening to you, Miss Goodwitch?" Yang asked.
"I will be the main teacher for the Aura Studies. Professor Topaz has decided to retire after the Vytal Festival incident and as such, my role now lies completely with that class. However, I will still be available to assist any with combat training and sparring matches where Professor Branwen is not."
"What, am I not good enough for you?" Qrow asked his niece.
"I'm just worried that you'll strain yourself trying to keep up with us, old man," Yang retorted.
"Ooh, I'd watch your mouth, firecracker. I've got control of your grades. And I'm pretty sure you'd be the one straining trying to keep up with me."
"Abuse of power much."
"It's not an abuse of power if you learn something from it."
"I'll leave them with you, Professor," Goodwitch said. She turned to Qrow and whispered to him. "And don't be too hard on them, old man."
"I make no promises..." Qrow whispered back. Glynda huffed then walked back to the classrooms. Once she left, Qrow let out a sigh of relief. "Finally, she's gone." He took out a flask from his pocket and took a swig from it. "Ahh...alright, let's see what's inside, huh?" The class followed the teacher and everyone entered the football stadium-sized building. The students were amazed as they saw the finished product that was the arena; a large open field with hardlight projections appearing around them. "So as Glynda said, today we're testing out Atlas' attempt at an apology to Beacon. Now, seeing as we're the first class to use it, I figure we'll have a bit of fun and turn testing into a competition. You got 60 seconds to kill as many Beowolves as you can. The student with the most kills gets to test this bad boy's bigger Grimm functions. Any questions?"
"Uh, Professor," Jaune said as he raised his hand.
"You can drop the formalities around me, buddy. Just Qrow works."
"Yes, sir. Um, how real will the holograms be?"
"You'll feel pain if that's your asking, pal. But if you can't handle a few bumps and bruises from a couple holograms, you should probably rethink your future."
"O-of course, sir. Just wondering is all."
"Anyone else? No. Alright, who's first?" Everyone put their hands up, eager to use the arena. Everyone except Cameron. Qrow pointed to Yang. "Alright, firecracker, don't disappoint."
"When do I ever?" Yang laughed. She walked down to the arena as Qrow got in the control booth and prepared the sim.
"Alright, Yang," Qrow said over the PA. "When you're ready."
"Let's do this!" Yang said as she extended her gauntlets and raised her fists.
"3…"
"…2…"
"…1…"
"…BEGIN!"
Later...
"HA!" Ruby cried as she leaped, dodged and countered a trio of Beowolves. Crescent Rose sliced through the three Grimm, cutting them cleanly in half. She landed on another Beowolf and shot it in the face, using the recoil to jump away from the monsters. As the fallen Grimm disappeared, a pack of 18 Grimm spawned and ran towards her.
10 seconds remaining...
"Okay, playtime's over you monsters!" Ruby disappeared in a storm of roses that formed a tornado in the center of the arena. The remaining Grimm in the sim were quickly sucked up by the twister. As time went on, various limbs and heads were thrown out of the tornado. Suddenly, the tornado dispersed and Ruby landed like a superhero. The remaining limbs rained down around her before slowly disappearing.
BUZZZZZZZZ!
"Not bad, pipsqueak," Qrow said over the loudspeaker. "Unfortunately not enough, though. Final score was 90."
"Aw, so close!" Ruby pouted.
"Better luck next time, kiddo." Qrow reset the simulation as Ruby walked back to her team.
"You did good, sis," said Yang as Ruby sat down.
"Not good enough to win unfortunately."
"Still in the top 5," said Blake.
"But I lost to Weiss of all people! Weiss!"
"I right here, you know," said Weiss from behind Blake.
"Alright then," Qrow sighed as he looked at "Lucky last, Mr Huynh! You're up!" Cameron stood and walked down to the arena. RWBY and took their seats.
"Hey, is he new?" asked Yang.
"He was in Port's class if you ever bother to pay attention, Yang," Weiss said.
"He looks like a decent fighter," said Blake.
"Ooh, I wonder what kinda sword he has!" Ruby said excitedly.
"Alright, kid," Qrow said over the loudspeaker. "When you're ready. And show a little effort, huh?" Cameron closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He raised his hand and signaled he was ready.
"Show a little effort?" Blake wondered.
"3…"
"What does that mean?" Yang asked.
"…2…"
"It sounds like he knows him," Weiss noted.
"…1…"
"Guess we'll find out," said Ruby.
"…BEGIN!"
The moment the sim began, Cameron rushed to the first spawn point for the Grimm in the blink of an eye, quickly beheading the first pair of Beowolves with his sword before they had fully spawned. Another four Beowolves spawned behind him and charged. Cameron switched his sword to a rifle and shot the skulls of the creatures before they got anywhere near close. The next wave of 6 met the same fate as did the next set of 8.
45 seconds remaining...
10 more spawned in, trapping him in a circle. The boy managed to gun down half before he backflipped over one going to strike his back. He gunned down the one that ambushed him and turned to shoot the other few below him. Two of the monsters evaded the gunfire and jumped towards him. Cameron switched the rifle to a double-edged twinsword and countered them both in mid-air before landing. A dozen more spawned in very close to him and all attacked. The boy ran towards the closest Beowolf and ducked under its claws before cutting the Grimm in half. As the remainder ganged up on him he lunged towards the center of a group with a fast spin, reducing the Beowolves to tiny pieces. He landed with a slide then hopped back to his feet.
30 seconds remaining...
Another set of 14 spawned in front of him and all converged on Cam. The boy pulled out a wind dust crystal and crushed it in his hands, absorbing its power. He reverted the twinsword back to longsword form and slashed the air in front of him. His swipes formed sonic waves that spliced the wave of Grimm coming at him, all falling to pieces before reaching him. A pack of sixteen then appeared danger close behind him. Cameron jumped away just before one could attack him then threw his sword at it. Now disarmed, the wolves all rushed him at once. They all attacked him but Cameron waved his hand from left to right, commanding his sword to impale all the creatures before returning to him. As the next 18 enemies spawned, Cameron pulled out a lightning dust crystal and crushed it in his opposite hand, now armed with 2 elements. He threw his weapon once more at the Beowolves, killing two of them by chance then shot a lightning bolt from his hand at the sword. The electricity surged throughout the blade then burst out of the sword's ends, electrocuting the remainder Grimm.
10 seconds remaining...
The final wave of 20 spawned surrounding him, all of them taking the form of Alpha Beowolves. Cameron called back his sword as the wolves jumped at him, giving him no escape but up. The boy jumped high, barely avoiding the attacks then threw his sword one last time at the ground below them. The sword hit ground with great force, releasing a burst of air that blew the Grimm high. With his enemies in the air, he rubbed his hands quickly then let out a massive surge of lightning from his gloved hands. The electricity spread throughout the arena, zapping and killing the Beowolves caught. One Beowolf he had missed lunged at him from below, aiming for his blind spot. Cameron turned around just in time to catch the beast's jaws. He shocked the creature with what energy he had left to use then drove the wolf headfirst into the ground on their descent, crushing what life was left of the simulated creature before it despawned.
BUZZZZZZZ!
Cameron stood and walked over to his sword, retrieved it then turned to Qrow in the control room. "That enough effort for you, professor?" he said in a flat yet confident tone.
"Alright, you little showoff," Qrow smiled. "Well played. Final score: 110."
"He killed them all?" Blake said, amazed.
"He's good," Yang cheered. "I like him."
"I'm sure it was beginner's luck," Weiss huffed.
"You're just mad he beat you," Ruby chuckled.
"So, as promised, you and your partner get to tag team whatever I feel like throwing at you," Qrow continued. "However, since you don't have a partner, it's villains choice."
"Can I not solo it, professor?" Cameron asked.
"As much as I'm sure you think you can handle it, not this time. You're gonna have to make friends with people fast."
"I have to or you're forcing me to?"
"Whatever helps you choose faster."
"Eugh..." Cameron looked to the class, turning from left to right. He looked at Team RWBY and pointed at them.
"Her, I guess," he said. Weiss stood and smiled.
"Well, I'm sure we can find a way to-" she began.
"Not you. The one in the red hood." Weiss' face dropped as Ruby's smiled.
"It's your lucky day, squirt," Qrow said to Ruby. Ruby raced down to the arena excitedly and joined Cameron. "Now, the both of you will be facing a rather large opponent. The simulator will choose what terrain you'll be on as well as what Grimm you'll face at random so be ready for anything. Once the machine has picked a terrain, you'll have 30 seconds to work out a plan for what you battle. Is that clear?" The students nodded and made their way to the center again. A list of bioms appeared on a holographic screen before randomizing and selecting one; a forest landscape with a glade in the centre. A timer appeared in front of them.
"Uhh…hi!" said Ruby trying to introduce herself. "I'm Ruby."
"Cameron," the boy replied, not really paying attention.
"So what do you think we'll face?"
"Working that out right now."
"Hah. Um, you did good on the-"
"Look, Ruby, I'm trying to get in the zone and get ready. Might I suggest you do the same."
"Oh…Okay." She whipped out Crescent Rose ready for battle. "Let's do this!" Cameron switched his sword to rifle mode and reloaded.
"3…2…1…BEGIN!"

An instant later, a Petra Gigas appeared standing as tall as a building smashed through the forest behind them. The pair turned around and observed their enemy a moment, both in awe at its size.
"Great..." Cameron huffed.
"HA!" Ruby cried as she charged.
"NO!" Cameron tried to stop her but it was too late. She leaped at the monster and went to strike its face. The Gigas covered its body with its rock arm and smacked Ruby aside.
"Dang it." Ruby somersaulted and landed on her feet. The Gigas turned to her and swung it's other arm down on her. Ruby rushed away to evade the boulder arm, retreating back to Cameron.
"Brute force isn't gonna cut it. We have to think."
"Sorry…"
"Get behind it and try and hit its main body with dust rounds. I'll distract it." Cameron switched to rifle and shot the Grimm's face. The Grimm covered its face once more and attacked the boy. Cameron rolled to the side, trying to hit the mask but he couldn't get a shot. Meanwhile, Ruby ran behind the Gigas and switched Crescent Rose to sniper form, loading it with lightning rounds and shooting at its main body. The electricity surged throughout the rock then dissipated in an instant. The rounds caught the attention of the Gigas and it turned to face her.
"Uh oh…" The Gigas threw its arm at her. Ruby quickly vanished in a storm of roses and dodged the incoming boulders. She took aim at the face but then noticed the boulders had boomeranged back around to hit her. Before she could react, Cameron rushed by and pushed her out of the way of the arm. The Gigas retrieved the rocks and reformed the arm as the two students got back to their feet. "Thanks."
"Switch to ice rounds and target the limbs. If we can immobilize it, we can force it out of its body."
"Right!" Ruby and Cameron reloaded their weapons with ice rounds then split up. The pair ran around the Gigas, shooting at the Grimm's legs. Ice crystals began covering the monster's lower limbs, slowly freezing the legs to the grounds. The Gigas responded by swiping its arms around, trying to hit the pair away but the students evaded the rock arms. The monster broke one of its legs free and tried to crush Cameron with its foot. The boy noticed and rolled to the side as the foot smashed the ground, making a small crater. He then fired his gun full auto at the leg, freezing it back to the floor. Angered, the Gigas raised its hands then hammer slammed the boy below. Cameron dodged the blow and threw an ice crystal at the arms before shooting it, encasing the Grimm's arms in ice and immobilizing it completely. He then switched his gun back to sword form and ran up the arms, rushing at the face. He jumped forward and went to slash the Gigas' mask. The Grimm noticed and spun it's body around to protect its face, forcing Cameron's attack to bounce off its rock body.
"Shit..." He landed on the opposite arm and tried to attack again, but the Gigas managed to get it's right arm free and swatted the boy into a tree. Ruby stopped when she saw Cameron fly off. She gritted her teeth and switched Crescent Rose back to scythe form. She disappeared with her semblance and went to strike the main body, but the right arm blocked her path. She hit the arm with such momentum that she cracked the arm in half. As half the rock arm fell, the Gigas threw the other half at Ruby, hitting her and sending her across the glade. Ruby got up feeling sore and dazed. As she tried to shake off the pain, she saw the Gigas spawn a Grimm arm. The monster moved over to a dead fallen log and took possession of it, making the tree it's new arm. Ruby saw this and smirked.
"Big mistake." She reloaded Crescent Rose with fire rounds and fired at the Gigas. The Grimm defended itself with its tree arm, which Ruby kept shooting at. A few rounds later, the tree arm caught fire and spread over the arm. With tree ablaze, it wouldn't be long for its arm to burn away...or so Ruby thought. The tree burned slowly to the girl's surprise. The Gigas noticed its new burning arm and looked at Ruby angrily. "Oh, crap." Ruby reloaded with more fire rounds and kept shooting at the Gigas. The Grimm shielded it's face and started running at the girl. A sense of panic filled Ruby as she kept shooting the tree arm, trying to make it burn faster, but the Gigas was too fast. In seconds, the monster closed the gap and went to strike Ruby. Ruby braced herself for the attack but she then saw a gold sword fly in front of her and chip the Gigas's face. The Grimm gave out a cry and covered it's face in pain. The sword circled the beast, trying to chip at the mask further. It couldn't get past the Grimm's arm, but was pushing it back and away from Ruby. Ruby looked at the sword confused before it rushed back to Cameron behind her.
"You okay?" he asked as he joined her.
"Yeah...but, nothings working!" The Gigas let out another cry as it finally recovered. It eyed the two students off in rage.
"It's not affected by our attacks since it's hiding in the rock. But if we focus on it, the limbs come to defend it. Even if we immobilize the limbs, we're not fast...oh, you old bastard."
"Huh?"
Cameron hesitated before he turned to Ruby. "How fast can you run?"
"U-uh, I made a tornado earlier today. "
"Not a number but alright then. Hit all the limbs on the right side as hard and as fast as you can. Once you're done, aim for the gravity crystal I'll throw then get clear, understood?"
"Hit the limbs, shoot the gravity crystal, get clear. Got it."
"On my mark. Ready?" Cameron put an impact dust crystal in his sword's augmentation chamber then switched back to rifle form and ran at the
"Just trust me." Ruby sped ahead in with her semblance and struck the Gigas' right arm with enough force to send it flying. She then sped over to the right limb, running around it to get speed then hit it with equal force of her first strike, removing it's leg entirely. She retreated a bit and waited. When the Gigas began to fall from having no legs, Cameron appeared on the top of rock beast's body. He threw a purple dust crystal above him. Ruby took aim and shot it as requested. The bullet activated the crystal and created a gravity hole that brought the limbless Grimm and Cameron back up. As the Gigas was pulled up, Ruby saw Cameron's sword glow white momentarily before the boy faded in a storm of blue, gold and white rose petals.
"What the..." Ruby whispered to herself. She felt the gravity orb begin to pull her in and quickly sped out of reach. When she turned back, she saw the gravity orb being orbited with blue and gold petals. The petals gave out flashes of white light and circulated the Gigas erratically. A few seconds later, the gravity orb failed and the now cut up Gigas' body was fell to the ground into the air along with the petals. From one of the pieces, the Geist Grimm appeared and tried to run off into the woods. The petals quickly chased it and flew past it with a flash of white light before forming together to make Cameron. The boy shook his sword to the side then placed it on his back. At the same time, the Geist fell to the ground and began to despawn from the sim.
BUZZZZZZZ!
"Nice moves, kids," Qrow said as the simulation returned to normal. "Good job to both of you."
"You old jackass..." Cameron muttered to himself. He looked at the crowd and saw that everyone had their jaws open in shock. He then turned to Ruby who had a similar expression and sighed. The bell rang almost immediately after.
"Quitting time already, already?" Qrow wondered. "Alright, good work everyone. Class dismissed." Everyone slowly began to make their way out, some students still eyeing Cameron cautiously. As they did, the hooded boy headed for the exit, passing Ruby on the way who was still in awe of his feat.
"You weren't bad," Cameron said to Ruby with a flat tone. He then walked off, leaving the girl alone. Ruby turned around and watched as he left.
"It's impossible…" Ruby whispered to herself.
Later that night, at the Dining Hall…
"Thanks," said Ruby as she collected her dinner from the lunch ladies. Having grabbed her tray containing a bowl of spagetti and a small pack of cookies, she walked over to RWBY until she saw Cameron sitting and eating nearby. She looked between the two until she decided to walk over to Cameron. "Uhh…hey."
Cam looked up at Ruby who was standing right beside him. "Hi," he replied quietly. He stared at her for a moment then pointed to her. "The girl from the arena. Roony, wasn't it?"
"Ruby, actually." Ruby put her tray on the table. "Ruby Rose." She stuck her hand out.
"Cameron Huynh." The two shook hands.
"So…good battle today huh?" Ruby was slightly nervous asking this.
"Yeah…" Cameron was slightly nervous too. "You weren't bad."
"Thanks. You fought better, though."
"Just a quick thinker." Cameron turned back to his food and took another bite of his steak.
"So, um...how did you do that...thing."
"I copied your semblance."
"You what?"
"My semblance is mimic. Whatever I see, I can replicate. Yours was a little tricky admittedly but once I understood your movements better it was smooth sailing."
"That's...really cool."
"Huh?" Cameron looked back at her a little surprised.
"Your semblance. It's pretty cool."
"Um...thanks. Did you make that sniper scythe yourself?"
"Oh yeah. I made Crescent Rose at Signal Academy. Professor Qrow sorta helped me. He's my uncle."
"You don't say. Figures though considering I saw a bit of his style in yours. Then again, he was always the fun teacher."
"You're from Signal too?"
"Yeah. Was meant to be a first-year but the headmaster saw fit to throw me in second-year."
"Neat. So what's your sword's name."
"Solaris. One of three and the eldest of the Ladies of Light."
"You have two more swords?!"
"Not quite. I have more weapons, but they're…shy."
"Shy?"
"It's complicated."
"Um…okay."
"HEY RUBY!" Yang called from afar. Ruby turned to her. She was waving to her, signaling her to join them.
"You should go catch up with your team," said Cameron, looking in the same direction.
"Why don't you come join us? I'm sure your team can find you there." Cameron gave a faint sarcastic laugh.
"I'm a freelance student. I don't have a team."
"Well, still. They don't bite."
"I appreciate the gesture but I've got things to do tonight. Maybe another time."
"Oh, okay. Um, it was nice meeting you."
"Likewise." Ruby picked up her tray and went to join her team. As she left, Cameron watched her curiously. "Weird girl..."
"Making friends, huh?" Qrow said as he walked up to the boy.
"Not so much a friend over a forced acquaintance, old man." Cameron returned to eating.
"She's a good person, kid. She's not one to judge straight away." Qrow sat down opposite him.
"Shouldn't you be drinking with the teachers or something to celebrate your first day?"
"I would but nothing's alcoholic."
"How unlucky of you."
"Ha ha. So how was your first day?"
"Not bad, I guess. First class was a bore, second wasn't too bad."
"Make any other forced acquaintances?"
"You know I'm not a people person."
"Only because you don't bother trying."
"Yeah, well I doubt anyone wants to befriend the curse after today's display."
"To be fair, no one told you you had to use it."
"Oh, please." Cameron looked up at Qrow. "You set me up and you know it."
"I dunno what you're talking about. I told you the sim was randomized."
"A Petra Gigas that tall in glade environment, while not impossible to beat, isn't quite a fair match for tag team of second-year students. Add the fact it wasn't affected by standard attacks and us having burned some energy on that little contest from before, it was either dust or semblance based combat."
"Funny. Didn't you ask to solo it earlier?"
"With enough dust, I probably could've. But hey, I guess I got unlucky."
Qrow sighed annoyed. "You may have skills better than most students in the year group but you're still only one person. You're gonna need friends sooner rather than later. Even you can't save the world alone."
"Then I guess I better improve so I can, huh?"
"Is that what you plan to tell Magenta?"
"We're done here." Cameron got up and walked out of the cafeteria. Qrow watched the boy leave and huffed.
"This is gonna be one long year..." he said as he pulled out his flask.
Later that night, in the dorm hallways…
"What a busy day," Yang yawned, stretching her arms.
"And it's only the start of the year," said Blake.
"Well at least we had fun today," said Ruby. "After all, we did get to try the new arena first."
"And that's where you met the love of your life," mocked Yang.
"Will you let that go already!"
"Nope." Team RWBY turned down the hall to their rooms to find Cameron entering his room.
"Hey, Cameron."
"Hey," he replied back. He turned to face RWBY.
"So…this is him, huh?" said Yang walking up to him. "He's not too bad looking."
"Um...thanks?"
"I'm Yang. Ruby's older sister." She put her hand out to shake with his.
"Cameron." He shacked hands with the girl.
"I'm Blake," said Blake stepping forward. "And that's Weiss."
"Nice to meet you all." Cameron had a neutral expression.
"So, can I ask what you think of Ruby?" Yang asked with a cheeky grin on her face.
"She's a nice girl, I guess," he responded carefully. "Why do you ask."
"No reason. Just curious why you picked her during combat training."
"Right. Excuse me but I have a bit of work to do tonight. Again, it's been a pleasure to meet you all." He entered his room and closed the door.
"Well," said Blake. "He seems nice."
"I'm still concerned," said Weiss. "Maybe even a bit more now that I know he's right next-door to us."
"Oh lighten up, Ice Queen," said Yang. "You shouldn't disprove of Ruby's boyfriend."
"I hate that we're related," Ruby deadpanned, walking into her dorm annoyed.
"Love ya too, sis. Love ya too." The team entered their room and changed for bed. As they prepared for sleep, Cameron went out to the balcony and jumped onto the railing. He walked to the wall then scaled the side of the building to the rooftop as silently as he could. When he reached the top, he looked at the moon a moment.
"I'm can't save the world alone, he says..." he whispered to himself. He stared a while longer, thinking on Qrow's words and sighed. The boy then grabbed a blue cube from his pocket and placed it in the middle of the rooftop. He tapped the top of the cube and a holographic enemy appeared before him. He placed difficulty to max and hit start. Drawing Solaris, he readied his sword before the hologram attacked.

AN: So...you're actually reading this. Neat. I mean, of course people are reading this! It's not like I put all these views on here myself...I'll stop. Anyway, whatcha think of that? I did promise action! So this does take notes from both the Original Red trailer for the Beowolf competition and Ep 1 of Volume 4 for the Geist/Gigas fight. I didn't want to make Cameron too OP, but he is adept in swordplay, gunplay and dust usage. His mimic semblance also has limits but that will be explained later hopefully. I really hope you guys are enjoying and stay tuned for more! And please review me! Tell me if I'm doing good or bad or s**t or anything! Seriously, I like communicating with readers and know what they want for later chapters.
