Chapter 1

The woman eventually arrived. She had a cool car, French, blue, rear engined. She was pretty too. What more could a 14 year old boy want? Well, beyond her arriving on time, obviously.

Their journey was largely uneventful. She had a DAB Radio fitted. When they got reception she played Radio 6. No complaints there, either. They didn't speak much, she attempted some small talk but Shinji's social awkwardness put a stop to that pretty quickly. Well, I say that. She talked a load, but he didn't really listen. Didn't really care. Had more pressing things on his mind, anyway. Why was his father so interested in meeting up with him? They hadn't seen each other since 2012. He seemed pretty busy then. Too busy to take an interest in little Shinji, anyway.

Eventually they pulled up somewhere, the chick got out of the car. Shinji didn't pay much notice, he was in his own little world. She got back in, shut the door, and turned to Shinji.

"You'll need these documents."

"Eh…"

"These documents are your security clearance. You'll need them."

"Ok…"

"I get the impression you don't really know what's going on here, do you?"

"Eh… Heh… Uh… No… Not really, miss… miss…"

"Misato Katsuragi, Thank you. God, you really don't know what's going on, do you?"

"Yeah, if you could explain…"

"Read the documents kid. They can explain better than I can."

Shinji wasn't sure whether that was meant to be snarky or helpful. Maybe both. He looked at the folder she'd handed him. 'Welcome to the Liberal Democrats'

Shinji gulped. What had his father done this time?
