First Day of 9th grade- Homeroom

Holding her breathe, Bella entered the first homeroom class of her high school career, only to find a variety of students, ranging in height, size, looks, and very obviously age. It was there in the far corner of the room that she saw him, sitting next to his sister, Alice, talking quietly to her. Alice looked up and waved Bella over pointing to the empty seat beside her. He looked up also, and she pretended not to notice the way his smile sent the butterflies in her stomach into a frenzy of fluttering wings and nervous smiles. The second she sat down Alice began with her usual nonstop stream of little nothings that she was well-known for. Bella seemed unusually quiet, maybe because she was in his presence, or perhaps it was due to the crooked smile that she adored was plastered to Edward's face. She vaguely wondered if this is what it was like to be in love, spending countless hours thinking about that one person, that one person who just happened to be leaning across her and doodling in her notebook spread out on the table the three of them were sharing. Alice paused and looked between them, a small smile forming on her lips just thinking about the possibility that Bella had the hots for her brother. Not that Bella should ever know that she approved of it. Alice deemed Bella way to timid and stubborn to ever admit to be crushing on her big brother, the big brother who was in the grade above them and unavailable in almost every way possible to Bella.

"So are you up to a shopping trip on Saturday, Bella?" Her eyes becoming melancholy, "You promised me last week that you would go!"

Bella was snapped from her reverie. "Oh. Err. Yeah sure, I said I would go, I guess." Her face flushed pink and she looked down at her hands, "It isn't like I don't have enough clothes already," she mumbled to the notebook. The corner of Edward' lip twitched of its own accord, and he coughed a little to stifle the small chuckle that has escaped his lips. Alice eyed him threateningly and opened her mouth to say something, only to be cut off by the bell and morning announcements blaring through the loudspeakers. "Saved by the bell," Bella murmured 's lips twitched again, and broke into another smile. That smile made her day so much more bearable. She spent the rest of the day daydreaming about that smile, causing her to trip a few more times than normal. But she didn't care.
