Carmelita lay in her bed, thinking of what had just happened. Her mind racing with thoughts, regrets of begging the raccoon to leave. "Why did I do it?",she wondered aloud. It had been a single opportunity to show him that she loved him as well,so why did she push him away? What was that itching feeling in the back of her mind that had told her to push him and feelings away? She sighed and rested her head on her pillow, looking out the window and watching the Eiffel Tower, faintly glimmering against a perfect moon.
In the Safe House,Sly sat on the couch playing video games with Murray and acting as if everything was all right. It was all a charade though, just to cover up the gaping hole that was where his heart should've been. Finally,he gave up his illusion and slumped sideways,a frown etching its way across his face. "Whats the matter, little buddy?",Murray asked when he noticed a significant change in Sly. He sighed. "Something you probably wouldn't understand. It's just something I May have to deal with on my own. Something even you and Bentley couldn't make a difference in." Sly got up and left the room, heading for his bed. He flopped over and lay on his face, broken down from Carmelita's rejection.
Despite her attempts at falling asleep,Carmelita's thoughts continued to race. She couldn't help wanting him back, his lean body pressed against her, strong arms wrapped around her. Almost as if he would never let go. That single thought, broke her finally. Silvery tears streamed down her orange fur, small sobs escaping her. It was right there and then that she realized it didn't matter what sides they come from, criminal and cop. She wanted him, needed him almost. Not even the itch in the back of her mind would stop her this time, nothing would stand in her way.
*Many hours pass, until daylight streams through their windows*
Sly awoke, groggy and stiff from the way he had fallen asleep. At first it felt like nothing was wrong, until that awful empty feeling hit him like a truck. It smacked into him so hard,he could've swore it knocked his breath out of him. He heard both Bentley and Murray snoring, deciding he need the day to himself. He grabbed his cane and tied his red backpack to his leg, swiftly sneaking out of their hovel. He sneaked around all day, stealing from worthy thieves, but his heart wasn't in it.
Today was one of Carmelita's only days off,as her work normally didn't allow her the joys of leisure. She was cleaning her apartment, the radio playing some of her favorite songs. She swore she could her the familiar smack of a pointed cane,or the quiet scrape of lithe feet on the ground. She forced it out of her mind, knowing it was her imagination until soon it wasn't. She turned and looked outside, jumping back a little when she saw him on her porch. It had began to transfer from day to dusk, and she could see faint stars glimmering around his form.
He stared inside, looking straight at her, deep into her beautiful eyes. He let himself inside, and they stared at eachother in complete silence. The radio seemed to have faded away, along with everything else. It was almost like they were thousands of worlds away from everybody else,or in their own personal dreamland. He stepped closer to her,and continued to do so when he saw that she inched forward each time. He dropped his cane on the floor and continued to move forward,as did she.
She was so close to him, feeling the warmth flow off his body. Her tail curled around one of his legs,as she wrapped her arms around his torso. "What happened last night, was a mistake on my part. What went through my mind there, wasn't what I truly felt. It took thought, and I've finally made up my mind..." She looked up into his chocolate eyes and pressed her lips to his.
Once more he found his arms carressing her body, deep in a passionate and firey kiss. He pulled his lips away. "Are you sure this is what you want?" The empty feeling had started to fade away, his heart pounding so hard he was sure she could feel it. "Yes",she replied looking up at him.
