Chapter Two
A cigarette was dropped onto the ground, next to multiple dead bodies. Some bodies much bigger than others, Lloyd that is what his name is Lloyd Riggs. "This is fucking great…" Lloyd said as he looked around and saw the carnage. "We have to go to the other islands you know how hard that is going to be with prisoners on board.." Lloyd said turning to a man who towered over him, Lloyd was a solid 6'0 but there was a man named George who stood over him at 6'5 and he was big and heavy weighing in at 275.
"I figured, we could use our big ships for the prisoners.." George said looking down at Lloyd.
"I am not looking forward to spending the next few weeks on a boat, especially with Salvatore crying about his damn wounds." Lloyd said as he looked at Salvatore on a stretcher. "How come you transform into beast titan but somehow still have multiple bullet wounds on yourself!" Lloyd and Salvatore were brothers. Salvatore had gotten multiple gun wounds and bullet holes put in his body.
"They can penetrate the skin of the beast titan, I'm not invincible no one who has a titan form is.." Salvatore coughed up blood as some men took them away.
"So I got a question… how the hell are we going to control the titans when they eat anyone in sight?" George asked raising an eyebrow, they had the serum to change people into titans and they used it as a form of execution only now most of the titans ran off and didn't attempt to attack humans.
"That's a… good question. I don't know, I figured when we get to the island we drop the prisoners there. Or we could just handle it ourselves," Lloyd said looking at George.
"You mean you and Salvatore right.." George stated crossing his arms. "I might be tall but I am surely no titan."
"Yes... coward." Lloyd said turning his head as he started to walk towards the ships. "Come on now, we must pack!"
"Wait, are we going to Hope?" George asked walking with Lloyd.
"No, commander George we are going to the nearby island." George turned his head to see the cart titan and George jumped.
"Oh my goodness man, you need to tell people when you are sneaking up on them!" George said as he felt his heart skip a few beats.
"You really have to get used to him, anyways to the nearby island! I have no idea what it is called, so don't ask. " Lloyd said as he started walking towards the ship with their men following.
Hector was sitting down in a chair and was breathing regularly now that they have calmed him down. "Okay… Hector you have to tell us what happened." Layla said calmly putting her hand on the shoulder of Hector.
"Okay…" He inhaled deeply. "I'll tell you.."
Hector told all he could remember, it was a regular day and Hector was looking out over the base. Suddenly Hector heard multiple sirens and shouts as people started panicking grabbing rifles left and right, Hector squinted over the horizon and saw something huge. Something hairy, it was terrifying and made Hector drop his gun. "What the hell is that creature.." A soldier said as he looked over and saw the creature having something in his hand. The huge creature threw multiple cannonballs at the cannon sons, which created multiple explosions and already costs multiple fatalities as some of the cannon balls hit the men. Hector covered his face from the smoke and then saw something else on the horizon, another titan. Is that another titan? It was right next to the hairy creature, the hairy creature slapped the other titan on the back and then the titan charged at the building and multiple men panicked. Jumping and crying, throwing themselves at the ground and covering behind the trenches. The titan burst through the front lines and then jumped into the air and landed on the whole base, next thing Hector he hit his head on the wall causing him to get knocked out.
"Then I woke up in the middle of nowhere and saw an island nearby and then started rowing towards it. I think they threw us across the land, there was multiple people laying dead in the ocean." Hector said as he looked at Layla.
"Alright thanks for the information," Layla said getting up, Layla leaves and leaves Hector in the room. "Are we arresting the man? Or.."
"Well, he didn't fake his death.." Brandon said sighing, "We have to let him go, but he isn't going to be serving anytime soon. I think he has a family that lives here.." Brandon crossed his arms and then started to walk away.
"Alright I'll tell Christina, she won't be happy about this." Layla said walking with Brandon. Brandon just sighed again, "Are you okay?"
"I just heard they have base destroying monsters who throw our men into the sea, yeah I'm as okay as I can be!" Brandon raised his voice at the end and realized he scared Layla slightly. "I'm sorry Layla.." Brandon said looking down.
"No no, it's okay. You heard about the big wall in the west, there are two other walls inside of them. It's a very good place." Layla said crossing her arms looking at Brandon slightly smiling.
"Yeah, maybe if the titans come here you and I could move to." Brandon slightly blushed and then turned his head quickly. Layla just smiled and grabbed his hand.
"I wouldn't mind that Brandon…" Layla said as she looked over at Brandon, Brandon blushed deeply as he tried to avoid her glare.
Myles was in the town with Kristen as Kristen asked a question he had never thought of before. "The monsters aren't coming towards us right?" Kristen looked up at Myles. "I heard a man shouting about monsters.."
"You heard the man?" Myles said raising his voice looking down at Kristen. "I told you not to believe in stuff that anyone says, some people are crazy!" Myles said as he kept on walking with her.
"S-Sorry!" Kristen said slightly scared. Myles realized what he did.
"Sorry, uhm Yeah Kristen there are monsters. There are monsters far away from here, they aren't coming for us." Myles obviously lied, he knew the monsters were coming for us but he didn't want to scare Kristen. Then she said something else that surprised him.
"You never look at me when you lie.." Kristen stated as Myles turned his head at her, Kristen was looking right at him and Myles slightly jumped seeing that.
"Oh my goodness Kristen, you want something to eat or did you pull me out here to ask me questions away from mom!" Myles raised his voice again and Kristen tried to break away from Myles's hand. "Kristen stop!" Myles shouted as Kristen tried to get away from Myles. Myles then put his hand on Kristen's shoulder realizing they were bringing attention to themselves; Kristen looked around and saw only a few people looking. Kristen just frowned and then walked with Myles, "I'll get you any sandwich you want okay.."
Her eyes lit up, "The roast beef and cheese one!" Kristen jumped up and down. Myles just smiled and chuckled as she jumped up and down.
"Sure that one.." Myles went back to holding the hand of Kristen and continued to walk down the road.
"What do you mean monsters?" Christina asked as she sipped her tea, "That's ridiculous!" She shouted.
"It sounds stupid.." Gabriela said on the side as Brandon and Layla were talking to Christina, Thomas turned his head at her. He wanted to say it sounded stupid but how could a base be obliterated so quickly, and the better question how did Hector get there so quickly.
"I would like to say that it is stupid, but honestly. Honestly, I believe it.." Thomas said looking at Gabriela. Gabriela just breathed hard as she looked down.
"Oh, this is going to be a pain.." Gabriela sighed as she looked at Thomas, "You think they will send us after them?" Gabriela asked as she looked at Brandon going over to her and Thomas.
"Alright they are aiming after one of our islands, before coming here. We assume that will take a while, although we cannot be so sure. These monsters are unpredictable, and we have no idea of what they are capable of." Thomas said as he rubbed his head.
"Alright Gabriela, Thomas. We might have to send you guys on the coming ship, with Mark Dalton." Brandon said looking at them, "You guys will leave when the ship arrives so just be ready.."
"When?" Gabriela asks.
"Just.. be ready.." Brandon said as he walked away from them, Gabriela just breathes hard she didn't want to come face to face with the monster. Gabriela looked at Brandon, and then shouted out.
"What are you going to do?" Gabriela asked looking at Brandon, Thomas saw this and decided to try and calm her down by putting his hand on her shoulder but Gabriela slapped it away. "Why are you sending us to deal with the monster, when you're doing nothing!" Tears were now flowing down her cheeks, and kind of a slow pace.
"Stand down, soldier…" Brandon said looking at Gabriela, not wanting to stir up anymore trouble. He felt her pain, when he had to go to war and his commander would just stand there and watch.
"Gabriela that's enough." Thomas said as he looked down at her, Gabriela stopped for a moment. Why wasn't Thomas on her side? Why is Brandon so calm?
"Gabriela…" Brandon started to say, but Gabriela grabbed onto Thomas and started balling her eyes out. She had nothing to lose; she had no one and nothing she wanted to stay so badly and more importantly. She didn't want Thomas to die, he was the only friend that she had and she cared about him really, really much.
"I'll calm her down." Thomas said as he brought her outside, Gabriela was continuing to ball her eyes out as Thomas hugged her tightly. "Calm down, Gabriela.." Thomas said slightly swinging her from side to side.
"I'm sorry.. Thomas… I just don't want you to leave me." Gabriela said grabbing his uniform, it was now wet of course and Gabriela saw that. "Also sorry for all that.." She motioned the wet spot on his uniform.
"I'm not going to leave you, I promise.." Thomas said getting close to her.
"You have to pinkie promise on this," Gabriela said unexpectedly. Thomas was caught off guard by this request but he just smiled and then put his pinkie up, Gabriela's pinkie looped around the pinkie of Thomas as they both locked. "Thanks, Thomas.." She said smiling at him and then hugging him again.
"Okay, Gabriela. I have to break it to my family.." Thomas said breaking away from Gabriela.
"Alright, I'll see you I guess." Gabriela said smiling at Thomas as he walked away.
It wasn't pretty when he had to break the news, "Why the hell do you have to fight against monsters!" Sarah shouted, as Myles and Kristen looked at the door listening.
"That was loud.." Kristen whispered as she and Myles were leaning up against the door and listening in.
"Shh the kids are going to hear… you think I want them to be scared?" Thomas whispered, trying to calm down his wife. Sarah just sighed and held her light brown hair.
"I don't want you in that war." Sarah said turning around and looking to go to the door.
"Sarah! You let me face men in tanks, how much more dangerous can monsters be." Thomas said grabbing her shoulder, Sarah slightly shocked by this turned around swiftly. Thomas realized he made a mistake by doing that.
"Because, they destroy a base in under an hour! Now even if that is a rumor the base was still destroyed, and we have no idea why a crazy man shouts that it was because of a hairy monster." Sarah shouted as she looked like giving up, "But whatever, Thomas. I don't know what to say anymore.." Sarah opened the door and Kristen and Myles fell in the doorway.
"Dad, why do you have to leave again!" Kristen said running to Thomas and grabbing him by his uniform.
"Kristen, I have to!" Thomas kneeled down and hugged Kristen as he felt her tears hit the back of his uniform. "I will make it back safe I promise!" Thomas hugged tighter, as he knew that was a blatant lie to make Kristen feel better. Kristen, backed away and looked into Thomas's face.
"Promise?" Kristen's mind was racing, her dad wouldn't lie to her would he? Thomas just sighed deeply as one tear went down his cheek.
"I promise, one way or another I will find you guys again.. mommy will always be there though!" Thomas said kissing Kristen on the forehead. Kristen believed him and then went out of the room, Myles looked at Thomas for a second and then went to the living room.
"You can't lie to the kids like that.." Sarah said as she crossed her arms looking up and down at Thomas.
"Oh I wasn't lying.." Thomas said as he walked away and went outside.
