Well legend had it that the young maid managed to reach her beloved on time. They met at the railway station as he was about to step in to his apartment. She was smiling sweetly as ever whereas he was holding her. They said their confessions at the same time. It is known that when two people who love each other says something at the same time you can make a wish that will come true. They were standing on that platform what felt like ages for other people, for them it was timeless.
'I have waited for you all this time.' Said the boy.
'So have I.' Said the girl.
'I may never part with you.' Said both of them.
That was the beginning of everything and it was theirs.
Alfred woke up at five o'clock in the morning on the dot. His usual preparation would allow him some time to have a brief talk with a young Miss Daisy who happened to be near his door during those preparations.
He never considered himself a talkative person, nevertheless he talked most of the time. Apparently, Daisy was very much in love with the young man but he preferred not to discuss any matters of such kind whilst they were still working in this house, for it would not be appropriate for two youths being infatuated one with another in front of their masters. So that is why Mr. Nugent decided to never speak to Daisy unless they were alone in 'their' room. Yes, indeed, they had their own room for secret meetings; kind of a sacred place for star-crossed lovers. Yet, it seems that it wasn't that easy for the young girl, who wished to marry Alfred.
Well, this is their story in a nutshell, but how did they manage to keep their relationships in secret, moreover how these relationships even worked, is the greatest story ever to be told of.
For Alfred it was, to tell the truth , much harder to keep himself restrained in front of his love day by day. He started to fall in love with her as days went by. Nobody said to him that it would be easy, no - he was left alone with his feelings. What would have happened if never confessed them? Would he be able to cope with them if he never did? Probably, he would drop his work and come back to his family and till his last breath curse himself for things he has never done.
So, what do you think happened next? Do you reckon that a sense of duty overcame love or you tend to think this young man called on his courage and did something unexpected which led him to the consequences that were favourable for him?
Well, well, well - I dare not to give away any details as of now because would it be of any interest for you if I did? No. So that is why I shall begin with the new chapter next time. For now I leave you with a prologue.
On one of those usual summer days - when the sun is always so kind and pours a lot of lovely beams on you, while the playful wind tickles your face happened something that usually happens to all people in the world. Day in day out, this occurs to all of them - love. Love and once again love.
Every one seems to be intoxicated by it as if it was a strong ale or wine that you could never have enough.
So to begin with we should be aware that this 'occurrence' happened on a such a sunny day while the family was away, and its servants were left on their own to prepare for an annual summertime fair which should be held in the garden of this said family.
As always there was a huge fuss made about it, particularly by senior servants who cherished traditions of this household. On the contrary, young maids and footmen were less concerned by it. The reason to it was that they were young and deep down they wanted freedom which back in those days associated with - dances, may fairs, travelling and new experiences. They craved it, but they were forced to do as they were told whether by their parents, teachers or other people who surrounded them. Any chance to escape from dullness that was given to them. they would take without much thinking. That was their life. They took risks, they fought and they won so.
But our story is so unique and intriguing that it differs from any of other stories because of the power of love and circumstances that Alfred and Daisy were put under. They were lucky ones and they were in love.
