The Replica Theory

Chapter 2-The Social Party and Failing

Oh this is gonna be so fun! I can't wait! I'm so glad that Riku asked me to go in his place! I never get to go out, I'm so excited!

But... Why would he ask me to go somewhere like this in his place? He said something about a threat, but what type of threat could it be? I bet it's nothing. I'm going to go and just enjoy myself! I'll have the time of my life!

"Repliku! Come on, we're leaving!" The lady I was told to call "Mom", yelled for me. Of course I called her Mom, I mean she did create me... Just.. Differently than she had made Riku...But I loved her all the same, they, being Mom and Dad, still loved me too. They just... They just didn't want people to know that I existed yet.

I was always alone, I was never aloud to go outside, especially if Riku was out somewhere. I never understood why. I probably never will...I was always confined to the white walls of mt room, and when I did go outside it was in our fenced-in backyard. If we ever had company I was forced to stay in my room. I was lonely, but I tried to be cheery. I hate to admit this, especially since I'm 18, but I do have imaginary friends... I had to do something to keep me from going insane of loneliness.

I wanted friends... Due to me want friends, I would always listen to stories about Riku and his friends. He didn't have many either. I loved hearing the stories, he would always talk about how pretty Kairi was and how Sora was loud and out-going. He said I reminded him of Sora because I was also quite out-going, not so much loud. I was always smiling around Riku because he was the closest to a friend I had. Though, he was more like my brother...

"Repliku," Dad was speaking to me." you will be called Riku here at this place we're going to. Got it?" Dad spoke in a serious voice.

"Alright! I got it!" I quickly replied.

I was worried that I would mess up and ruin Riku's friendship with Kairi and Namine... Though he didn't talk to Namine much, I was still worried. I was excited to finally meet the oh, so beautiful Kairi that he always spoke highly of. She sounded wonderful, smart and beautiful... Man that sounds great. But, I can't let myself fall in love with her... Then I'll be more upset when I'm home alone.

Don't worry! I'll be fine! I know I will! Yeah!

As we got to the party, I noticed a big, and I do mean BIG, house. I asked Mom about it,"Hey, what is that big house? It's even bigger than ours!"

Mom replied, laughing a bit,"It's a castle, sweetie! They're always this big, in fact, sometimes bigger!"

"Whoa..." I my voice trailed off in amazement.

So big! Wow! It's beautiful! is this where Kairi and Namine live? I big, beautiful, bright castle... I wish we were a family of high royalty like this!

We walked out of the car and were greeted by many rich and quite famous people. This party really was big. It was fit for the party, the BIG party. I've never seen this many people, so I was kind of shocked at first, but I quickly regained my cool, remembering what Riku had told me,"Listen, Kairi and Namine will be there, so... Act like you know then a little bit. I'm good friends with them, so be careful.

Don't worry, Riku! I won't blow it! I swear! I'll act just like you!

But... how? Riku was so quiet and kind of anti-social and I'm outgoing... I'm scared of failing... Failing him... Him... He's all I have right now... If I fail him, who will be left to tell me stories and laugh with me... Or watch T.V. with me and play games with me... I'm afraid..

I'm worrying over nothing. It's nothing!

"Riku, go have fun. You never really go to these things often, so have fun. Alright?" Mom spole to me in a soft, sweet voice.

"I will, Mom!" I exclaimed, gleefully.

I wonder what Repliku is doing... Is he having fun? Is he getting ambushed by another assassin...? I really hope not... I would feel so upset... Please be okay! I don't want you to die or get kidnapped or disappear! I would be so lonely at home... So lonely...

He'll be fine! I'm fretting over nothing, silly!

"Hey, Riku!" The dark, reddish-brown haired girl, who I guessed was Kairi, called happily.

"Hey!" I called back at her as I walked up to her.

"I really didn't think your parents would let you come to this! I'm so glad they did! Sora wasn't able to come, and if you weren't alloud either, Namine and I would be stuck here practically alone..." She was quite cheery, no wonder Riku liked her.

"Yeah, I'm glad too!" I said, acting like I really knew.

That's when this absolutely stunning blond-haired girl walked up to us. She was so pretty... She was even prettier that Kairi! She had a more childish appeal to her, which I kinda liked since I was very ignorant of most things. I guess she made me feel more comfortable, which was good. I didn't want to look stiff...

She's so pretty! Wow! A beautiful castle equals a more stunningly beautiful girl!

"Hey, Riku..." She said in a very quiet, shy voice.

But... Is she... shy? That's adorable!

"Uh.. Hi, Namine!" I gave her a smile. I was kinda speechless at the sight of her...

"Riku, are you okay? You're acting kind of.. Off today...?" Kairi said in a concerned voice.

"Hm? Oh, yeah, I'm fine!" I smiled back at her.

"Okay..." She didn't sound too assured.

As the party went on we hung out and talked with each other. Before I knew a few hours have passed and Kairi started acting weirdly... Granted, I haven't known her long enough to say if it was weird or not, but it seemed odd... And Namine was really quiet but she did talk here and there. I loved hearing her voice...

"Riku, I can I speak with you in private real quick?" Kairi asked, but it was more like a command than a question.

"Uh... Yeah, sure." I said, kinda confused.

We walked a bit away from everyone else and Kairi then asked me something," Hey, you're not really Riku are you?"

Oh, shit... Don't tell me a messed up... I'm such an idiot...

"Of course I'm the real Riku!" I said, trying to sound convincing. Though, I don't think I did...

"No you're not. You're his copy aren't you? Repliku?" She sounded absolutely serous.

Damn it! I messed up!

"How'd you figure it out...?" I sadly sad.

"Haha, I'm one of Riku's best friends! I think I know how he acts. You were too... easygoing, and outgoing for that matter." She laughed, not really caring that I had deceived her.

She's not mad? Great! Then maybe I didn't mess up...

"Oh... Well... I'm sorry for lying to you... Riku's parents wouldn't let him come..." I said, ashamed of lying. "Please, don-"

"Don't worry! I won't tell! I'm not gonna do that to Riku and his family!" She cut me off and smiled, happily. "It's alright, I understand why you lied."

"Oh..." I looked down.

"Cheer up! No one else noticed, you'll be fine! Namine didn't know Riku that well, so she didn't notice either." Kairi reassured me.

"Thanks, that does make me feel a bit better. But, how'd you know about me?" I asked her, kind of confused on how she DID know. Did she stalk Riku or something?

"Again, I'm one of Riku's best friends. Sora and I both know about you. Riku needs people to confide in, so he chose us." She gave me another smile.

"Oh" I gave her a weak smile back.

"Come on, let's go back in." Kairi said, leading me back inside.

After a while of talking with Namine and Kairi more, Kairi was called up to do something. Namine stayed with me.

We're alone... Oh... What should I do? What should I say?

"So... Um... Riku?" Namine said in that sweet voice of her's.

"Yeah?" I quickly replied.

"Do you like drawing?" She blushed a bit.

So cute!

"Oh, yeah, I draw every now and then" I replied smiling. I wasn't lying either, I just bent the truth. I draw all the time, but Riku only draws here and there. "What about you? Do you like drawing?"

She looked surprised,"Really? I love to draw!"

"Are you any good?" I paused and then said,"I bet you're amazing!"

She blushed a bit more," Oh, no, I'm not that good... I'm kinda good though..." She was smiling at the ground.

Does she like me? I hope so!

"Still, you're probably better than me!" I gave her a big smile. Even if she wasn't better than me, I'd tell her so. After years, 18 years, of being in my room all alone, I had to do something. So, I got a paper and pencil and drew since I was really, really little. I'm pretty good, I guess.

"How about you? How good are you?" She asked, a bit more confident in her words.

"Hm? Me? I'm kinda good, I guess. Probably not as good as you!" I smiled.

We continued our small talk and getting to know each other a little more.

After a while, Kairi came back. We hung out and talked more until the party was over. Whatever thing Riku was afraid of, that... Threat? Wasn't here. I was glad for that. I didn't want anything to ruin this.

Kairi and Namine saw my family and me out.

"Bye, Riku!" They both said simultaneously. And then Namine said,"I can't wait to see you at school tomorrow!" My heart skipped a bit at that. She gave me a smile that melted my heart... Even Kairi looked a bit surprised by that.

We left and then went to bed. I told them all goodnight and that I had a great time there! I told Riku that I'd tell him about it tomorrow.

Though, I couldn't sleep because I was too busy thinking about Namine and her beauty... And... Just... Everything about her.

Man, she's so perfect... I think... I think I love her... Her face, her hair, her eyes, her... Her personality was great too! It suited me well... I definitely loved her, and... I think she liked me too!

I smiled. But, that smile faded after a little while...

But, I'm not suppose to be able to feel love...
