Ignorance is Bliss
So, I know my writing style changed
Is it good? Is it bad? Please tell me whether or not you like it in the reviews! I know this idea hasn't been done by anyone, but I want to let you know, that Hiro is NOT the main character, Tsuna is.
His Arrival
As Tsuna walked home with Hiro in tow, who was excitedly chattering about how his day went and how he managed to do one push-up in PE (because that is totally amazing) Tsuna slightly shivered. He pulled Hiro closer and let him continue talking, one ear listening to his brother, the other listening to see if he could catch anything.
Someone was following them again.
Great.
Wait a second...could this be? Didn't Grandpa say...?
Maschera-kun, I know you are working as a free-lance assassin that takes on whatever job is in your morals and you also have no desire to become my heir so I understand that I cannot force you to become the boss of Vongola. I'm sending Reborn soon, Hiro needs to learn how to defend himself, as he will become the boss. I will be passing soon. I'm sorry I didn't tell you this earlier, but I didn't think my condition was going to be this bad...
Right. Grandpa was dying from cancer. And without a Vongola boss to keep the Tri-Ni-Sette in balance, the world was going to collapse. Not literally, but it may cause a full scale apocalypse.
WHY IS THE WORLD'S FATE PINNED ON 3 PEOPLE?
Tsuna pinched the bridge of his nose, annoyed at the predicament. Now he had to deal with Reborn of all people. He stopped Hiro, and with his brother looking back at him curiously, he asked,
"Hiro, can you head home without me? I want to head back to the school to get something."
Hiro nodded, smiling brightly and started walking off. Of course Tsuna felt a bit guilty about lying to his brother, but if you think about it, hiding the mafia from him was a pretty big lie too. As soon as Hiro was far enough and turned the corner, Tsuna located the place Reborn was and slowly walked towards him saying,
"I know you're there. I know what you've come for, don't lie to me." Tsuna showed that he was 'unarmed' and crouched down, waiting for Reborn to reveal himself.
"Sharp intuition." Reborn jumped out of the bush and smirked. "I'm-"
"I know who you are Reborn, and you've come to train my older brother am I correct?" Tsuna said, remaining crouched and staring right into Reborn's eyes.
Reborn's lips turned downwards and he frowned in annoyance, confused that some random civilian knew his identity, let alone the fact he could tell where he was.
"Excuse me, I am The World's Greatest Hitman, Reborn." He replied, eyebrow twitching.
"Fine, fine, whatever." Tsuna said, "You can skip whatever you were going to do or say, and I'll just say you came to tutor Hiro, since his grades are dropping. Will that do?"
"Are you including my living fees?" Reborn asked, seeing the offered shoulder and jumping on, getting a clear look at the boy's face for the first time.
"Yes, now hurry up, or mom will start worrying." With that, Reborn steadied himself as Tsuna stood up in one fluid motion, running towards home with Reborn clinging to his shoulder.
"Mom! I'm home! There's someone here who wants to tutor Hiro in exchange for a place to live. Is that alright with you?" Tsuna asked, voice slightly louder than speaking volume. Nana walked out of the kitchen, wiping her hands on a kitchen towel and looked at Reborn on Tsuna's shoulder,
"Oh! He's adorable! Why not? What is your name little one? You can call me Mama." At that, Tsuna resisted the urge face palm, knowing that this was part of her motherly personality and an act. He softly whispered to Reborn,
"She's like that to everyone...just go along with it." Reborn slightly nodded and answered.
"Mama, I'm Reborn, and I'm here to tutor your son, Hiro, like Tsuna said." Nana smiled before turning back towards the kitchen murmuring,
"I hope you can help Hiro."
Hiro, hearing the voices downstairs started walking down and saw his mom talking to a child that was on his younger brother's shoulder.
"HEY! What's happening?" Hiro yelled as he ran down the stairs, but he tripped on his overly long pants and tumbled down the steps landing on the wooden floor below. "Ouch..."
He quickly dusted himself off and soon after he got up, he got a closer to Reborn, getting a real look at him.
"He's so cute! Like a stuffed toy!" That was a very bad comparison, which rewarded Hiro with a kick to the head. Luckily, Nana had already gone back into the kitchen and wasn't looking, busy preparing some cake for her new guest.
Hiro rubbed his head and pouted. "That wasn't very nice!" Hiro was so childish and ditzy sometimes...
Nana brought in a tray of cakes and warm tea. "Hiro, this is Reborn, your new tutor."
"Oh...but, he's a child." Hiro said, not really understanding the situation and also a bit confused. Tsuna soon cut in and said,
"He only looks like a child, he was born with a growth defect. I wish he really were..." he muttered the last sentence, which everyone except Reborn missed.
How does he know that I'm not actually a child? Is he part of the mafia?
Hiro accepted Tsuna's explanation, seeing that his brother had no reason to lie to him anyway and they settled into a routine of friendly chatter.
Later, they ended talking up in Hiro's room.
"Hiro, I'm actually here to train you to be the next boss of the Vongola." Reborn said slowly, making sure that Hiro understood what he was saying.
"That games company? I love their games!" Hiro exclaimed. Reborn sighed, this was going to take a while to get him to fully understand...
"Yes, that's their public identity, but they're a mafia famiglia behind that." Reborn explained.
"I see! So I have to be the next boss in this mafia game?" At first Reborn didn't expect Hiro to absorb it so quickly, but after he said that, Reborn thought to himself,
There is no hope for this childish boy, I can't see him being able to become the next boss, but I have to train him under Vongola Nono's orders regardless. The younger brother Tsuna on the other hand would be a much better boss. I don't understand why the Nono didn't pick him.
"We will start training tomorrow." Reborn said closing the door behind him, heading to Tsuna's room to sleep. Before he reached the door, Tsuna already opened it for him and let him inside. Tsuna practically rolled into bed trusting that Reborn wouldn't try to kill him, plus, he was armed underneath his pajamas. He listened to the sound of Reborn settling down in his hammock and went to sleep.
The next morning, Tsuna woke up early as usual to find Reborn not in his hammock. He went about his morning routine, changed into his school uniform and headed downstairs.
And there was Reborn reading over some files at the kitchen counter.
So Tsuna went ahead and made some breakfast for himself and Reborn, including some espresso, because he felt more tired than usual today, having had the recurring dream about the day his best friend was taken the night before. Also, he may or may not have heard that Reborn liked it, and he really needed to be on the man's good side.
"Good morning." Tsuna said as he placed two plates of croissants, scrambled eggs, as well as a separate plate of sausages on the table, and the two cups of espresso.
Reborn lifted up his head and raised his eyebrow,
"Oh, are you always up this early? You're the perfect younger brother aren't you? Why don't you have any friends?" Tsuna bit his lip, face becoming neutral.
"You don't need to know." Reborn thought it was strange, but seeing that Tsuna would not answer, and he really didn't know anything about the boy, he dismissed the issue and instead looked at his breakfast.
"How did you know I liked espresso?" Reborn was getting increasingly more suspicious of Tsuna starting from when the teen had first found him. Tsuna shrugged.
"I assumed that you were a coffee lover, you…look like one."
They finished their breakfast in silence and soon after, Tsuna left the house.
Reborn just stayed there, waiting for Hiro to sleep in, so he could hit him with the Leon Hammer.
Hiro was complaining about his head to Tsuna when he arrived at school.
"Reborn hit my head! He's mean to me." Hiro looked at Tsuna and pouted.
I guess Reborn hit him with Leon...he does use him a lot, since he is a transforming chameleon.
"Reborn isn't so bad I guess," Tsuna said gently patting Hiro's head, "You're going to get stronger, cause you're my older brother right?"
"Don't worry! I'm going to become really strong and help people!" Hiro exclaimed. Tsuna smiled, Hiro really was fit for the job as boss, so pure and untainted by the mafia.
During lunch, when Tsuna and Hiro were eating outside on a grassy area, Reborn jumped out of a tree, yet again and said,
"Hiro, we start training now. We're going to the roof."
And promptly disappeared.
Maschera means 'mask' in Italian, and it fits the reason why Reborn doesn't know Tsuna, even though Tsuna has worked with Vongola Nono.
If you are going to complain this chapter is short, then I would like to tell you that I painstakingly squeezed 779 words out of my head to write some of this chapter, and ideas started bombarding me all night, and I wrote them on sticky notes.
So, I'm sorry that you might think it is short, but I have the headache now.
Hope you review~
