"Oof," I mumbled as I sat up. What the heck happened? I wondered. I looked around the movie theatre I had been sitting in. I was underneath my chair, in the very last row. I was pressed against the wall. There was a pounding in the front of my skull, and it stung when I touched it. Did I hit my head or something? Why am I under my chair? I thought back. Well, I was watching a zombie movie, then… I searched around in my brain, but finding no answers.
I searched my row of movie seats. There were six men, and two women. They were sprawled across the seats, the floor, and they were all covered in blood. I ran over and checked for a pulse on all of them. They were all dead. I started shaking as I looked at the blood covering a man. All across his neck were bloody scars, still fresh. Even more disturbing, was that it looked like he was covered in bites. I took a step towards the man when I tripped over an arm. I screamed, and threw out my arms to break the fall.
"Shhhhhhhh!" A voice said. I spun around to see a kid a few years younger than me. I hadn't seen him in awhile, but he looked familiar… My eyes widened with shock. "Logan? Is that you?" He nodded. "Hi Maddy." "Oh my God Logan how the heck did you get in here! Your parents would never let you come see a zombie movie!" He looked irritated that I had asked him that, so I changed the subject. "Dude, what's going on? A real zombie attack?" I grinned at my own joke
Logan glanced over to the man as he started to stir. "Actually, maybe that is what's happening. I thought it was a prank, but it seems too real." Logan spoke fast, but knew what he was saying. "Y'know that movie we were watching? About the zombies? Yah well… some guy burst in here, and attacked a whole bunch of people. We thought it was a joke, but the people were actually getting hurt. Then a security guard ran in and shot at it. I swear, he shot it in the chest six times! It just wouldn't go down. Then it came for him…" His voice trailed off. All of a sudden, the man next to us stood up. Blood dripped from his neck and he limped towards us. Logan frantically searched around to find something to use. He looked at the security guard, his gun a few feet away from his hand. Logan started running over to grab it. "Distract it!" he hissed at me.
I waited until it was a few feet away, and then I jumped over the row of seats in front of me. The walker reached for me, but I jumped again. It fell forward, just missing my arm by a few inches. I jumped over a few more rows of seats. "Duck!" I heard Logan yell. I threw myself onto the ground, and a loud crack of a pistol filled my ears. The walker, who was almost upon me, fell over, dead. I rolled out of the way, and it fell feet away from me. I stood up, wiping the blood off my hands. "We need to find some weapons." I stated to him. He and I searched around in the bodies, but I found nothing. The security was really tight around here, because of last year. A man and his friends got drunk and went around the city firing off rounds. A few of the men came into the theatre, and at least forty people were killed. Ever since then, nothing has happened, and everyone is checked for weapons before they come in. I found my green backpack behind my seat. It had a few books, my homework binder, my amazing Steven Yeun signed picture of Glenn, and my notebook stuffed in it. "Hey Logan, we should probably get out, maybe even scavenge some stuff from this theatre." I said to him. He nodded, and we walked out of the theatre.
We hit the concession stand first. Logan found a blue backpack in the hall, and I watched him stuff it with candy from behind the counter. I saw a door labeled with a sign that read 'security'. Logan walked over, and I slowly opened the door.
