Hello Lovely people if you have not noticed I am editing this fanfic and I sort of changed the ending of chapter 1 so you should go check that out **Edited June 3, 2014**

Clarissa

Clarissa left the club in a rush and hoped the shadowhunters weren't following her. She grabbed Jonathan, who was waiting at the exit, and left shortly after. Her father, Valentine, wouldn't be to happy about her killing the demon before she could get any information, but it wasn't like he was the only one that would be willing to talk. When they got back to the manor they went straight to the study where their father spent most of his time. Clarissa kept her head down staring at the carpet, not wanting to even make eye contact with Valentine. She knew what was coming because of what she did. At the moment it seemed like the right thing to do but not so much anymore. Jonathan already got his speech and now it was my turn. And then he spoke, "Why would you even talk to that demon when I gave you specific orders not to?"

"That girl was going to beat me to it," Clarissa protested.

"I don't care," he shouted. "The minute you saw it you should have told your brother, and he could have handled it."

"It wasn't going to give us any information," she muttered back her father.

"If your brother had talked to him he would have gotten the information."

"You just think I can't do anything don't you. I'm worth nothing to you because Jocelyn wouldn't even come back to you for me," Clarissa yelled.

"DO NOT RAISE YOUR VOICE AT ME YOUNG LADY, NOW GO TO YOUR ROOM AND WE WILL DISCUSS THIS LATER," he shouted with fury in his eyes. The veins in his neck popped out as his fist met his desk making a loud thudding sound.

Clarissa walked out of her father's study teary eyed with her head down. She already got her father mad, she didn't want to risk him seeing her crying. After shutting the door she let all her emotions out and surprisingly most of it was anger. She ran not caring about all the commotion she must be making. She ran down a long hallway that led to her room which was parallel to Jonathan's. She quietly entered her room hoping no one would notice her.

As she entered her room she slowly flopped onto her bed and just wished for an escape. But she ruined every chance she had to escape. She always went back. If she just ran maybe she'd never have to deal with her father. With any luck he wouldn't send Jonathan to look for her. But he would most likely go after her with or without our father's instructions.

"Clarissa I have decided your punishment," Clarissa's father, Valentine, said from the other side of the door. She got up from her bed and opened the door. He looked at her up and down. "Meet me in my study in five minutes." He turned around and left her alone in her room. She had just noticed she was still wearing her gear she had worn to Pandemonium so she decided to change. She looked through my closet and pulled out a loose black tank top and a pair of white shorts. She put on a pair of sneakers and left her hair as it was as usual.

After changing Clarissa went straight to the study and settled in a chair in front of her father's desk. She grabbed one of the books on his desk and read the title, "Greater Demons and Where to Find Them". When she heard footsteps coming from the hallway connected to the study she quietly put the book down and turned around to see who was coming in. Her father walked in, in his usual suit attire.

"So tell me, what's so important about this punishment that you have to drag me out of my room," Clarissa asked annoyed. "I mean it would have been easier to beat me in my own room."

"Clarissa I have had a lot of patience with you but you refuse to learn. Not even the harshest of punishments will teach you so I have decided to give up," he told her.

"Do you mean you're going to send me to be killed or something," she replied jokingly.

"No letting someone else take over you would be better for everyone," he replied.

"I still don't understand, do you mean, you mean your sending me to some random institute," Clarissa asked getting curious now.

"No Clarissa, sending you with strangers who don't understand your powers would be disastrous, I believe it is best if you were to be married. I am putting together some candidates for Jonathan and I to pick from-"

"You can't do this to me, I'm sixteen," she yelled. "And I'm your daughter, your only daughter for that matter and you're just getting rid of me. You're going to hand me off to be someone else's problem."

"Clarissa please don't-"

"No I don't want to hear your crap explanation. By the angel, you might as well sell me off to one of your followers and see how they could make use of me. You know, now I understand why Jocelyn left you. You are a horrible person and I'm going to be happy when you die because I won't have to suffer-"

Her father immediately backhanded her before she could finish, making her gasp. There was the same fury in his eyes whenever Clarissa insulted him. The room went completely quiet. She just walked out of the room without a single word.

"Come back here we are not done," she refused to listen and he went after her. He held a tight grip on her arm. "If you want a beating I'll give you a beating." Her father's tight grip prevented her from pulling away.

He dragged Clarissa to her room kicking and screaming. The only other person here was Jonathan and he wouldn't do anything about this. As much as he loved her he could do nothing to prevent their father's wrath. After closing the door after himself he left her there on the floor waiting for his daughter to say something. But she wasn't even looking at him. "You will apologize to me right now," her father exclaimed.

"Go to hell," Clarissa spat. Valentine stared at his daughter who sat, as vulnerable as she could look on the floor below her. He would not let her disrespect her in such a way. He quickly plucked her of the floor tugging harshly on her hair . Clarissa felt the sudden pain rush through me and she tried hard not to scream in pain. He pulled Clarissa up to her feet and slapped her once more to make a point, he could and would hurt her as much as he wanted to. Once again on the floor he left her there watching as she struggled not to cry. Clarissa's eyes started to sting but she couldn't blink. She couldn't risk her father watching her cry. Clarissa looked at the door trying to look at anything but her father.

"I don't have time to play your childish games," he told her his voice sounding toneless now. He adjusted his suit coat and tie. His voice sounded like venom in my ears. She knew now that there was no way she was getting out of this punishment. "You will stay here and will obey me until you are married." He left and slammed the door behind him. Clarissa couldn't take it anymore. She burst into tears on the floor. She didn't want to get up. All she wanted to do was let out the tears she held in for so long.

Jace

After getting back to the institute the teenage New York shadowhunters decided they wouldn't tell Hodge, their tutor, about what had happened at Pandemonium Club. They all felt too embarrassed to tell anyone about what had happened while they were gone, but Jace Wayland wasn't sure about that girl. There were only two possibilities in mind: 1) she was bloody mad or 2) she was telling the truth. The first one seemed more likely but Jace just needed to know for sure. He just found it strange that girl, Clarissa who was clearly a shadowhunter, would reveal such a thing. He went to the library to confirm what was most likely true with Hodge.

"Hey Hodge I have a question," he asked as he walked himself to a chair.

"What is it Jace," he said as he shuffled through his papers, his bird Hugo perched on one end of his table.

He had no idea how to ask Hodge without seeming mad himself. "Is there a possibility that Valentine had another child," Jace blurted waiting for Hodge to laugh at his ridiculous question.

Hodge accidentally threw a few papers and was quick to pick it up. Hugo flew up to Hodge's shoulder. "Why would you ask that Jace?" His voice seemed to be going up and down.

"I was just wondering." Jace was sure Hodge would have blown off the question seeing how ridiculous it was.

"Well no Valentine only had a son and he is dead. But really what would make you ask a ridiculous question like that." Hodge sat himself down on his leather chair that was right behind him.

"Just curiosity I guess," Jace answered suspiciously, "Okay I'll talk to you later I guess." He left the library a bit curious about Hodge's behavior. Of all the years he had known him Hodge had never acted so so strange.

Clarissa

"C'mon Clarissa there has to be something smarter to do," Jonathan pleaded. "By the angel he's probably bluffing."

Clarissa continued packing her thing ignoring her brother as he tried to persuade her not to look for their mother. When he found Clarissa packing he hadn't even mentioned what her father had done to her, so he either had no idea or didn't want to hear about something he could have prevented. "I already told you, I'm going to look for the cup myself," she bargained.

"No Clarissa, this is stupid and it's things like this that always gets you in trouble," he yelled at his sister.

"Yes because you're such a little angel yourself," she muttered.

"I'm telling father right now." She stopped in her tracks.

"Are you really resorting to telling on me just like when we were children. I mean look at me Jonathan I'm sixteen."

"Technically you're fifteen but that's not the point," he continued, "The point is you are my baby sister and I need to protect you."

Clarissa rolled her eyes. "You aren't really telling on me are you," she asked.

"No, but I don't want you to go."

"Come with me," Clarissa said flatly.

"What," he said confused.

"You heard me, you seem so worried about me going all alone so the only way to keep me safe is by coming to New York." She looked into her brother's black eyes with her green ones pleadingly. "How about it?"

"No, by the angel you're insane."

"Jonathan I can't get married. If I do there goes my life, so here I am begging you, just cover for me."

"Fine but just for a week. If you're gone any longer I'm going for you myself."

"I love you brother you're the best." I kiss him on the cheek and continue packing.

Please tell me what you thought it would mean the world to me.
