Chapter 2:
"No, My Lord! Don't ask that half-demon fool for help. Lord Sesshomaru you are fair
stronger then this other demon He'll on-" Jaken was suddenly cut off by Sesshomaru's foot
connecting to his face.
"Quiet Jaken. If I need not need his help, I would not ask." Sesshomaru then turned his gaze
to InuYasha and Kagome.
"You. You can feel it can't you girl? The unbelievably strong demonic aura traveling this way.
It's across that massive body of water and yet we can still sense it." Sesshomaru turned and looked to the moon.
"Tomorrow by mid-day, I have a feeling we will meet the one who has slain Naraku." Sesshomaru then walked closer
to InuYasha and Kagome and stared InuYasha in his eyes.
"We have never got along InuYasha. Because your wretch of a mother is the reason our father is dead. If we
don't work as one tomorrow I'm confident everyone standing here will be choking on their own blood tomorrow.
Including myself, you and this miko. Tensaiga and Bakusaiga both tremble at this demonic aura. I know you
and Tetsuiaga have felt it to." InuYasha just stood there and finally broke the silence.
"At first I figured Myoga was just blowing hot air, but if your here asking for me to help you Sesshomaru...
then this demon must be as strong as Myoga said. My senses aren't as sharp as yours or Kagome's priestess
powers but if it comes to it I'll help you tomorrow." InuYasha turns and looks at Kagome who smiles at him.
"If I help you though, you have to promise me two things Sesshomaru." He turned and looked back at his brother.
"I want you to get over the whole trying to kill me thing. I'm sorry that father died protecting me and my mother.
I didn't want it like that. we're brothers, and we're always trying to kill each other. All because our father
died protecting the woman he loved. Wouldn't you fight someone to the death to protect Rin?" Sesshomaru's eyes
got wide and he remembered those words his father last spoke to him the night he died. 'Do you have someone...to protect?'
"Feh, maybe you have a point InuYasha. If we survive tomorrow we will stop trying to kill each other. I guess even though
you are only a half-demon my father's- our father's blood runs through your veins. What's your other condition?"
InuYasha smirked at his brother.
"I want you to keep and eye on Kagome. Your a full demon so you'll be able to re-act quicker. I know you dis-like
humans but please. If something was to happen to Kagome I'd.." Sesshomaru laughed, for the first time InuYasha has ever heard
his brother laugh.
"Save it, Half-Breed. I'll help keep your friends alive as long as we're both alive. Rin will stay at camp with you tonight.
Jaken and I will be on that hill." Rin attempted to beg Sesshomaru but was cut off by him in mid sentence.
"Rin, stay. You will be better here. They have a fire, food and you can talk to fellow humans. I will be here come sun up." He smiled lightly.
Rin nodded and skipped to Sango, Shippo and Miroku. Later that night InuYasha and Kagome were sitting by the fire while the others slept.
"InuYasha, are you that worried about me tomorrow? I mean I could go home so you and Sesshomaru don't have to protect me..." She said almost sheepishly.
"Yea. I am worried about you, Kagome. This demon has got to be strong to make Sesshomaru ask me for help. Plus he killed
Naraku almost instantly after he crosses the water. I wish i could have you go home...but I need you here with me Kagome. I need you."
InuYasha looked to Kagome and grabbed her hand. Kagome just blushed and the same thought ran through her head
'He needs me?' She smiled and laid her hand on top of his.
"I'll stay with you then InuYasha. I'll help in anyway I can. Oh, and thank you InuYasha. It's late and we'll need
our rest so I'm going to go to sleep. Goodnight InuYasha." Kagome leaned over and gave InuYasha a kiss on the cheek.
InuYasha looked to the moon. 'Tomorrow's gonna be a big day Tetsuiaga.' InuYasha laid down next to the fire and
he quickly fell asleep. The next morning everyone woke up and tensions were high from the first moment of day break.
They ate a very un-peaceful breakfast, even Sesshomaru joined them. Around noon both Kagome and Sesshomaru felt that ominous feeling.
"It's coming InuYasha." Kagome said with a slight hint of fear in her voice. Suddenly the bright sunlight was blocked out by an immense
dark cloud like form.
"Is that the demon?" InuYasha asked. Kagome shook her head.
"No, that's just a huge mass of demons." She exclaimed as her fear slightly settled.
"Keep your guard up guys. Even though its not the demon we thought and they are weaker, they still have quite the amount of demons.
They're numbers alone may prove quite troubling." Miroku said with a serious tone. Suddenly the demons stopped coming towards them.
"What? Why did they stop?" InuYasha asked. Suddenly demons appeared from next to them and quickly attacked the group. Sesshomaru and
InuYasha began hacking away with the Bakusaiga and Tetsuiaga respectively. Miroku was using his sutra's and staff, he attempted to use
his wind tunnel only to discover that many of the demons had a miasma. Sango was using her newly upgraded Hiraikotsu. Even Shippo had
managed to get a few demons with his fox fire. This went for about an hour until suddenly a giant Oni appeared. Both InuYasha and Sesshomaru
attempted to slice through the demon with their swords. To everyone's amazement the Oni caught both blades and flung the two brothers away from it.
It suddenly charged directly for Kagome. There was no one able to make it to Kagome in time when suddenly she felt a body jump in front of her.
InuYasha had changed into a full demon despite no mortal wound. He was standing in front of Kagome attempting to protect her from the Oni. At the
last second the Oni stopped moving. Both InuYasha and Kagome opened their eyes and notice the Oni was splitting in half and black flames were
burning away at the two halves.
"Sorry about that. He got a little closer than I intended." A mysterious figure spoke. Out of the smoke walked a young man. He was no older than
what InuYasha appeared. Easily around either Kagomes age or a little older. Kagome couldn't help but notice he was a handsome young man. He was the same
height as InuYasha, but he was built a little bigger. The sword he carried closely resembled the Tetsuiaga minus the silver fur-like pommel the
Tetsuiaga had. It's blade was a little longer, and there was no pommel. It was just a blade then the handle nothing else. Then Kagome noticed something.
The young man had red hair. He obviously wasn't from around here. He continued to walk towards Kagome and suddenly InuYasha sensed Kagome tense up. He lunged at
the man. The man quickly stabbed the sword into the ground and dodged InuYasha's claws and countered with a ferocious right hook to his jaw. It sent the full
demon InuYasha rocketing to the ground. He glared at InuYasha and suddenly he slammed his knee down into his chest, Kagome cringed at the sound of all the air
in his lungs violently explode in the form of a desperate gasp. He pulled his sword out of the ground and he held the blade straight up in front of
Sesshomaru. He looked up at Kagome.
"I will kill him if he stands back up. The same goes for anyone else who makes another move." In a sudden flash of black flames the sword transformed
into a regular looking sword. As the man stood up Sesshomaru made a dash at him only to have the man move to the right and bury a fist into his stomach.
He then elbowed Sesshomaru in the back of the neck and he landed next to InuYasha. He looked back at Kagome and he smiled softly.
"I will not kill them. They're injuries are not severe but they will be sore when they wake up. Let them know that you being a human saved them." He nodded to
Miroku and Sango and turned to walk away. Kagome stepped forward and called out to him.
"W-wait, who are you. What's your name?" Kagome asked in a polite tone. He turned and smiled.
"Now, why would that matter? You don't plan on trying to meet like this again, I hope." He smiled and laughed lightly.
"I just want to know who to thank for saving me and InuYasha." She smiled gently. He inhaled.
"You have a beautiful land here. I hope your land has a different future. Oh, you can have this." he threw an object to Kagome and she caught it. She couldn't
believe what she was seeing. In her hands was the jewel that Naraku had formed using all of his Shikon Jewel shards. The jewel was still completely pure.
He turned around and waived goodbye to Kagome and the others.
"My name is Shadow by the way." Kagome gasped a little louder than she meant.
"Y-your the assassin?" She asked silently. 'But he looks like a human boy...no demonic features what-so-ever' He laughed aloud.
"Yea, I'm the great, to be feared Assassin. Remember take care of your friends. More of those demons are bound to be around." With his last message he
disappeared. Kagome stood there for what felt like forever. She then bend down to help InuYasha up. She then began to explain what happened to the still
clearly disoriented brothers.
