Alyssa Wächter. The new girl. The innocent girl. The spunky girl. A mute. Having never spoken since she was eight, Alyse can be defined as someone with a silent past.
Levi Ackerman. The bad boy. The ex thug. The jock. Her bully. Frustration for her building up the moment he met her, Rivaille 'Levi' Ackerman claims that he hates Alyssa with a passion.
Due to the distinct rivalry between Shingeki High's scouts and Marley High's Titans, along with the death of his two best friends in the hands of a rough titan player, Levi takes out his bottled anger on the mute, but with her stubbornness to refuse giving in frustrating him even more, he practically screams his dislike for her.
But what if it's something else?
Could this broken bully possibly have feelings for his mute victim?
Can Alyssa change Levi for the better?
"JUST SPEAK DAMMIT!" he yelled, steely gaze fixed on her cowering figure. She had no escape route, his arms were gripping her shoulders, trapping her in the corner.
She let out a whimper as his iron hold tightened and tears spilled out of her brown eyes.
The a cold feeling overtook his stomach. Guilt?
Relaxing his grip, Levi's hands came to rest on Alyssa's waist, eyes suddenly soft and helpless.
"I want to hear your voice..." he whispered, face leaning closer to hers.
Chapter one: in which, Alyssa is nervous.
Just so you know, Alyssa's lines are in bold italics.
Enjoy~
"You have your introduction ready, right?" Asked a man with messy brown hair, anxiously eyeing the girl who he towered over.
Alyssa nodded as she hitched her satchel strap forward for more comfort.
No worries. She signed. But uncle, get to the point already. I know you want to tell me something.
The man scratched the back of his head sheepishly and gave her an expression of pure guilt. The brunette could already feel the growing dread in the pit of her stomach.
"I know you hate this, Alyse... I have another business trip to attend, and I need to leave tonight. You know how my boss is, crazy geezer. Probably mad I replaced the fax machine with a shredder..."
He trailed off when he saw the look on his niece's face.
When were you going to tell me? She demanded.
"I was going to tell you when you come back from school... and my bags packed and ready. Look we'll talk about this when you return."
They were now at the gates of Shingeki High. Alyssa felt her annoyance fade as she stared at the giant sign, her heart clenching. Her first day in a regular school…
"Have a good first day, Alyse!" her uncle called, snapping her out of her trance.
Alyssa sighed and nodded, stepping into the campus. The first thing that greeted her was a large white banner hung over the school entrance, it's words bold, reverberating the hidden power (sort of).
'Shingeki High, home of the Scouts." It read, and below the printed lettering, in red paint was:
'DOWN WITH TITANS!'
Yeah, whoever wrote that must be some vengeance crazed kid who inflicts self harm. Suddenly, Alyssa felt nervous about the decision. One, according to her uncle, the teachers were as scary as shit. Two, her fellow schoolmates might be a bunch of cold hearted wannabe soldiers. Three, the rivalry between Shingeki high's Scouts and Marley high's Titans was long standing and violent, especially during dodge ball and a sport that they estblished that she never bothered about.
And she had a bad feeling she was going to get caught between it.
Alyse should have sticked to homeschool.
Not really paying attention around her, partly because of the banner and partly because of her own thoughts, Alyssa collided head on with someone and fell over, heavy satchel snapping open and books spilling out and her beloved baseball cap flying off her head. Looking up weakly, she saw a girl with strawberry blonde hair dusting dirt off her skirt. An open magazine lay beside. When her gaze met her's, the girl scrambled to her feet and grabbed Alyse's arm, pulling her up.
"Oh, my walls, I'm sorry!" She exclaimed, wiping dirt off Alyssa's dark brown hair. The brunette smiled and shook her head as if to say 'it's not your fault.'
Strawberry (that's what Alyse nicknamed her) gave her a look of slight confusion as she bent down down to pick her magazine up. This gave her time to observe her features. She was pretty, that much was certain, with reddish blonde hair and amber eyes that sparkled with goodwill. Her aura felt like candy and something else, Alyssa noted, a fierce loyalty.
"I was distracted."She continued, starring dreamily at the page. It was a photo of a K-Pop artist cuddling a Muncholax plushie and sporting a happy smile. Cute.
"I'm Petra. Petra Ral. Current party animal and the biggest BTS fan in this side of the universe. And you are...?"
An awkward silence lapsed between them.
"Hey..." began Petra, "I understand if you're mad at me. Bumping into you like that it's totally uncalled for."
She passed a nervous glance at the notebooks littered on the ground.
"Will you forgive me if I help you clean this up?"
Without a single sound, the brunette reached down and picked up one of her notebooks. This was like a drill for her, a routine. She was used to this.
I don't mind really. She wrote. Petra started at the sentence for a few seconds before it hit her.
"I had no clue, honest!" She panicked." I shouldn't have pressured you for an answer."
It's no biggie. You should stop apologising stop much, I kinda need to take the blame too. I'm Alyssa Wächter, buy the way and I've just joined.
"In the middle of the semester?! You have a lot to catch up on."
Now that you mention it...
They started at each other for a moment.
"Oh! Your books!"
*Awkward silence commences as they pack her supplies.*
"Sooo which class are you in?" Petra asked, with hopes to strike friendly conversation.
3A
Petra's eyes lit up.
"That's my class! Looks like we can get better acquainted." Drawing herself up with dignity she spoke in a grim voice, suddenly surrounded by a soldierly air.
"Alyssa Wächter, will you give me the honor of being your guide?"
*nod*
"Okay, let's get you to class first. Sit next to me." She declared and grabbed Alyssa's hand as she slung her satchel over her shoulder and rushed into the school (after recovering the cap).
Ten seconds later, thanks to Petra's rocket speed, they now sat in the last row of their homeroom, waiting for their teacher. The strawberry blonde seemed to take her job as a guide very seriously and explained the basic foundation of Shingeki high, starting with the teachers.
"We have Mr. Zackly for homeroom. He's okay, though he can get psychotic when it comes to principal Fritz and the teachers council. Hates them, to be honest."
Any I need to look out for?
Petra's expression darkened.
"That would be Shadis. Trust me, if there was a guy scarier than him, I would never step out of the house." She stated, shivering. "That guy makes the PARENTS wee their pants too. And to make things worse, we have him for math."
He must have met my uncle. wrote Alyssa. When he left to deliver the documents, he returned with this haunted look on his face.
That was true, of course.
"Poor guy..."
The class' ruckus does down as a grey haired man entered, pushing his glasses back onto his nose
Like William. . thought Alyse with glee, fondly remembering a character one of her favorite mangas.
Alyssa shook those thoughts out of her head and shifted her attention to her teacher who was currently facing the class.
"Today,"he declared," we have a new student, a transfer to be exact joining us today." His eyes landed on Alyssa who flinched involuntarily. The man's gaze demanded discipline. He was the teacher who didn't appreciate shit of any sort and random people humming the Nyan cat theme.
"Come introduce yourself."
Clumsily grabbing her papers, she went to the front of the class red faced with all the attention she was receiving. Boys sent appreciative looks and girls tried to see if she was worthy enough or not for their attention.
This only made her feel REALLY self-conscious.
Flashing them a small smile she held up the first sheet of paper
Hi, I'm Alyssa Wächter. The students gave her looks of inexplicable confusion.
The second sheet followed.
I hope I get along with all of you and that you will have enough patience when it comes to waiting for my replies.
"Is it just me," started a kid "Or are all of you reminded of that scenario in Koe no Katachi?"
The reason is, I am mute.
"Called it."
Zackly shot the student a dirty look as Alyssa stumbled back into her seat, red faced.
How did I do? she asked Petra. The strawberry blonde gave her a saintly look.
"You, my friend, shocked them"
That means I did good, right?
Right?
Lunch.
Whoever made that word was probably the happiest guy in the world. Why you ask?
Let's say Alyssa loves food.
As in, loves to EAT food.
She shocked the life out of Petra while eating her lunch which consisted of two sandwiches, a pudding and some wafers, and spurting ketchup everywhere.
The strawberry-blonde stared on with amazement at the amount of food the tiny girl consumed. She was strongly reminded of Sasha Braus from the first years who unleashed her ninja skills to steal Auruo's lunch.(he ended up biting his tongue in anger in the end...as usual)
"Slow down..." murmured Petra, nibbling on her Mac and cheese, before setting it down and glancing over to a table just a few feet away. Alyssa starred at the uneaten lunch and patted her on the shoulder.
Can I have that? She asked innocently. Petra stifled back a giggle.
"Sure."
The brunette happily tucked into her guide/friends unfinished feast(in her eyes), watching the girl beside her stare at the table filled with a LOT kids.
"Those are the Scouts." strawberry explained.
The sports team?
"Yeah..."
Who are you looking at?
Petra blushed scarlet at looked away, earning a cheeky grin from Alyssa.
Is it your boyfriend?
"N-NO...yes...m-maybe..." she stuttered. Alyse raised an eyebrow.
Maybe?
"It's complicated...but I'll still tell you. Levi, Levi Ackerman was a part of the scouts with me. Let's just say I had a schoolgirl crush on him and he rejected me. After that things turned complicated and well…
What's up with him? Alyssa asked, shocked
"He's just distant." Petra defended.
He sounds more like he's sullen...
"Alyse, Levi had a pretty harsh past. He needs someone who will love him for who he is..."
Were you ready to?
"I... forget it. After that I stopped hanging out with my group. I want to get back to them, apologise and start over with Auruo, Eld, Gunther and captain clean. Why am I even telling you this, I mean I JUST met you." She sighed, tracing patterns on the table.
Blame it on my smile, darling? And captain clean? Snickered Alyse
"Levi Ackerman, humanity's strongest, role model and the hottest guy in school. He's an eleventh grader, as I mentioned before, but trust me, he's WORTH mentioning over and over again. Funny fact, Levi is obsessive compulsive. See, that's him…" Petra pointed to one of the boys in the group
Alyssa's gaze landed on him and observed his details. Narrow blue- grey eyes that were as cold as ice reflecting boredom. Raven black hair styled in an undercut. High cheekbones and slender eyebrows knitted into a frown. Petra was certainly not joking.
He was so perfect...
So confident...
So mysterious...
So SHORT.
That guy!?
"Yeah, Levi's height can put you off at first but hee can be really terrifying. They don't call him humanity's strongest for nothing." Declared Petra.
More like humanity's shortest. Snorted Alyssa, dropping her pen and fixing her attention on her (Petra's) lunch. The nervous feeling of being watched tingled at the back off her neck and she looked up to meet the stormy eyes of the earlier mentioned boy.
Suddenly, for some reason, her started beating wildly and fear screamed through her head and body. She didn't know why, but something told her inside her.
Stay away from the angry leprechaun.
Whoop, that's the first chapter
- Anna
Next time:
Dirt caked her knees, stomach and elbows. Her nails had mud in them, and her was messier than Hanji's.
This girl was a walking disaster. Her very presence disgusted him. His OCD was going haywire and his hand itched to grab a bottle of windex and spray her.
"Tch, you look like fucking shit." He stated, frowning.
The new girl glared back at him and puffed out steam from her nose.
"Hit a nerve, freckles?"
Her face turned red with anger and she turned her back on him, obviously trying to ignore him.
Levi didn't like this. Grabbing hold of her shirt collar, he pulled her back to him.
"Think you're tough, huh? Spit your name out."
Silence.
"Your name."
Silence.
"Why the hell won't you talk?!"
