(see, the luck i've had can make a good man turn bad)

"Massie would," Claire says, numbly. "Massie would."

"Would what?" asks Layne.

"Have Cam give her our get-together plans and then manipulate him into coming here with him just to stir things up," Derrick explains, anger threatening to show.

A pause. Then –

"Oh," Layne says weakly.

"Well, we can just sit at a different table, right?" Dune asks with a slight Australian wilt.

"God. You all are so immature," Kristen says without an ounce of seriousness.

"Only for you," Griffin says with a wink. Dune glares at him.

"Come on, guys. We'll just sit at a different table," Josh says. The group sighs in synchronization but dutifully follows.

(haven't had a dream in a long time)

"Of all the gin joints in all the world," Massie says as they enter. Cam looks nervous.

"The gang's all here," Josh says politely as they begin to order.

"Huh. Wonder why I wasn't invited," she responds plainly, "especially since I go to Columbia."

Claire looks ready to leave (now) and Layne looks amused. So, obviously, she goes and sits next to Massie.

"I don't know you," Massie says.

"Nope," Layne replies cheerfully.

"Yes I do. Did you go to Westchester?"

"Layne went to private school," Claire calls out, balancing Layne's and her food.

"In Westchester," Massie says.

" Yes," Derrick answers, and seats himself across from Cam. Claire and Kristen push tables to sandwich Massie's and everyone sits.

"This doesn't go against the plan or anything," Dune mumbles.

So they sit and eat with Cam and Massie, and nothing catastrophic occurs until Dune, Kristen and Griffin have to go.

"Let's do something," Massie decides.

"Get me a cigarette," Layne says.

(let me get what i want, lord knows, it would be the first time)
