Loren's pov
Melissa and I are back at home. She's styling my hair. There's no escaping the date now. I have tried to talk her out of it but she wouldn't listen to any of my arguments. I'm wearing a short silver one sleeve sequin dress and smoky eye make-up. I sigh, "Mel. I really don't want to go." "Why not? It's the perfect way to get over Eddie. He doesn't deserve you after what he did to you Lo." "Or maybe I didn't deserve him. Maybe I just wasn't good enough for him." Melissa immediately grabs me by my shoulder. "Don't you dare say things like that Loren Tate. You are extremely beautiful, an amazing person and an amazing mother. The only reason for Eddie doing what he did is because he's a douchebag. Do not dare to blame it on anything other than that." I give her a smile, "Thanks Mel." "I mean it Lo." "I know you do Mel. But I just don't feel like it. It wouldn't be fair to my date either." "Just try to have some fun tonight. You don't have to start dating him. You don't have to fall in love with him. Just have fun." I scrunch my nose, "Who's my date anyway? You never told me." "Okay Lo. Don't freak out." I give her a suspicious look. "It's Tyler Rorke." "Tyler Rorke?! Why on earth would I go on a date with him?! You know what he did to Eddie.", I exclaim shocked. "Well, face it Lo. He didn't do anything to you. And you should kind of thank him." "What do you mean?", I ask confused. "Well, he hurt Eddie just like Eddie hurt you so he kind of punished him for what Eddie did to you." "There's some truth in that I guess. But why would Tyler go on a date with me?" "Well, once after you and Eddie broke up. I saw Tyler in the café. He told me that he was changed and that he was kind of into you. I told him then that you weren't really feeling up to a new guy so he told me to call him when you were up for a date." I sigh, "I really don't have a choice do I?" "Nope.", Melissa says popping the 'p'.
Melissa was soon ready and very proud of her 'creation'. A little after, the bell rang. After greeting each other, I got into Tyler's black lamborghini. "So, why did you want to go on a date with me?" "I know that I have been kind of a jerk in the past. But I realised that and I have changed. And honestly, I think you're kind of amazing. I hope you can give me a chance." "Well, I think everyone deserves a second chance.", I say. "So if Eddie would ask for a second chance. You would give it to him?" I avert my eyes, "Ehm..no. I don't think so." Tyler sighs, "I'm sorry Loren. I didn't mean to bring it up." I give him a fake smile. "It's okay. Eddie doesn't mean anything to me anymore. What we had was a long time ago." "So where are we going?", I ask. "I was thinking about Rumour if that's okay with you? Paparazzi will probably try to snap a picture of us so I totally understand if you want to go somewhere else." "No, it's okay. I have gotten quite used to it because of my relationship with Eddie." I mentally slap myself, "Shit, I changed the subject back to Eddie." The rest of the evening was fun. We managed not to talk about Eddie and Tyler was really nice company. After dinner he brought me home and walked me to the door. Instead of giving me a kiss goodbye, he gave me a hug. I was grateful for that because I don't know if I feel that way about him. When I walked in, all the lights were off so Amy was probably already asleep. I know she has school tomorrow but I kind of wanted to ask her if she is okay with me dating again. I'll just ask her tomorrow after school I guess.
The next day as Amy and I are getting ready for school and work, someone knocks on the door. Amy goes to open it while I clean the kitchen up. "Lily must be really early. She probably wants to eat your amazing breakfast.", Amy says while walking to the door. I chuckle, "Yeah, knowing Lily. She'll do anything for food." Amy opens the door and a man starts talking to her. The voice sounds kind of familiar. Amy sounds angry as she responds. "What are you doing here?" "Well, I know you hate me but I promised that I would deliver your prize and I keep my promises." "Well, that's a big fat lie! You don't keep your promises." "What do you mean?", Eddie responds confused. "Amy, who's at the door and why are you yelling?", I ask as I walk to the door. I'm shocked as I see him standing here. "Loren.", he states.
Flashback
Eddie was acting weird lately and I got the feeling that he was hiding something. When I asked him about it he would just deny it. I was making breakfast when I got the text. It was from an unfamiliar number. When I opened it, there was a video of Chloe and Eddie kissing with barely any clothes on. The text said, "Yes, that's right little girl. Eddie has been cheating on you this whole relationship. You were just a rebound and now he's getting back together with me. Love, Chloe." I felt my heart break into a million little pieces. How could he do this to me? Eddie came downstais and grabs a plate with food. That has changed too. He used to kiss me good morning the first chance he got but not since he apparently cheated. When he sees the tears in my eyes he gets concerned. "Babe, what's wrong?" I start crying as I yell at him. "Don't call me that!" I show him the video, "So everyone was right! I'm just a rebound and now I'm not good enough anymore so you're running back to Chloe!" "Babe, I can explain.", he begs me. "I said don't call me that!" He gets up and tries to place his hands on my shoulders but I push him off and slap his cheek with all my power. I see him wincing and his cheek is bright red now. I don't care. He hurt me a million times worse. "Loren please. Let me explain.", he begs me. "There's no explaination for cheating on me! I gave you my virginity and you just cheated on me! I don't want to see you ever again!"
I start walking upstairs to pack my stuff but I feel the urge to throw up so I run into the bathroom instead. I throw up. When I'm done, I see Eddie standing behind me. "Lo. Are you okay?", he asks concerned. "Don't act like you care about me." I start crying again, "You've given me enough lies to last a lifetime." I walk out of the bathroom and into the bedroom. I start throwing stuff into a bag. Eddie tries to stop me. "Loren. Please don't leave me. I love you." There are tears in his eyes. "Don't lie to me! You don't love me! Why are you even trying to stop me?! Oh, I know. You don't want me to damage your precious reputation. Don't worry. I won't." "Lo. I don't care about any of that. I just care about you." "I don't ever want to see you again."
That was one of the last times that I saw him in person. I saw him on TV and in magazines but I never spoke to him again after that day. I moved so that I wouldn't have to see him again and now he's standing here after all of those years.
I can't believe that I'm actually standing in front of the girl whose heart I broke 16 years ago. The girl who broke my heart 16 years ago. I tried to find her but she moved. Now she's here, my soulmate. She's older now. She's a woman now. She's still beautiful. There's no longer a spark in her eyes though. I know that I'm the one who made it disappear. "What are you doing here?! I thought I made it clear that I never wanted to see you again.", she says angry. "Well, this girl won tickets to my concert. What's your name again?" "I'm Amy Tate. Not that it's any of your business." Tate. So she's family of Loren. She looks a lot like her. The same big beautiful hazel eyes and the shiny brown hair. But is she Loren's daughter? If she is, I could be a possible father. "Is she..your daughter?", I ask hestitant. "No, of course not. Amy is my sister.", Loren responds.
