A/N: Quality update #2!
Annabeth POV
No way. Percy was Mr. Cool Guy? How could that be? But the longer I think about it, the more it makes sense. Percy is, after all, extremely good looking. Over the years that I'd known him, he'd grown to over six feet, and the constant sword training and running from monsters really did wonders for his physique. He was also, of course, super sweet. He would do anything for those close to him. And his awkward goofiness had become less awkward and more endearing. And I'm looking straight at him!
I turn to Sarah. "That's my boyfriend."
She scoffs. "I thought you said you already had a boyfriend."
"Yeah, that's him!"
She shakes her head and rolls her eyes. "Yeah, whatever," she says, turning on her heel, about to walk away.
I grab her arm. "I promise. Just watch," I tell her.
She sighs and crosses her arms, looking at me expectantly. I grin at her and turn back to Percy.
He hasn't noticed me yet. Oh, this is gonna be fun. I walk up to him, attracting the gazes of the crowd of admirers that seems to follow Percy. His friends look at me weirdly as I approach, but don't say anything to stop me.
"Hey, Perce. How's it going?" I try to sound casual, though my heart is beating fast.
"Um, I'm okay. I'm a little busy right now." To my surprise, he doesn't look up, to focused on fiddling with whatever's inside his locker.
"I didn't think you'd be too busy to say hi to your girlfriend," I say.
"Alright, move along. He already has a girlfriend, and doesn't need another blonde bimbo throwing herself at him," says one of his friends, with shoulder length wavy brown hair and brown eyes, says.
My eyebrows raise as I try to reason out what he just said. He must not be that bad of a guy, because Percy's friends with him after all. The "blonde bimbo" comment must have just been to scare me off, but it really strikes a chord with me. Instead of getting mad, however, I just say: "Why don't you let Percy answer for himself?"
Percy sighs, closing his locker and resting his forehead against it. "I'm sorry, but like Jack said, I already-" He turns to look at me and stops short. "ANNABETH! What are you doing here!?" He yells, scooping me into a hug, much to the confusion of those around us.
"Well, sorry, I'll leave," I say playfully.
"NO!" He yells, and before I can react, he pulls my face to his and kisses me. I slide my hands into his raven hair and grab a fistful. Percy lets out a low growl and pushes me up against the lockers. I let out a soft sigh. It feels soo good to kiss him again.
"Ahem." We break apart to see one of Percy's friends, a girl with dark brown hair and eyes. "I hate to interrupt, but you guys have and audience. Care to introduce us Perce?"
I look around and see almost all of the hallway staring in our direction. Oh well.
"Oh, right," Percy says, smacking himself on the head. "Guys, this is Annabeth, my girlfriend."
"She's real?" a boy with blond hair and blue eyes laughs.
"They thought I wasn't real?" I question Percy.
"We thought he was making it up so he wouldn't have to date any girls," puts in the first boy, the one who called me a bimbo. I give him a tight lipped smile.
"Well, as you can clearly see, I was not. Anyway, Annabeth, this is Will," He points to the blond, "Jack," he points to the boy with brown hair, " and Charlotte." He points to the brunette girl.
"Hi. Nice to meet you. Jack is sorry for the bimbo comment," Charlotte says.
"Wha-" Jack starts, but is cut off by Charlotte. "You ARE sorry."
"Yeah, that hurt right here," Will says, pointing to his heart.
"Oh get over it Will. Sorry Annabeth." Jack sighs. "It's just that so many girls can't take a hint, it starts to get annoying. I would have never have said that if I had known-"
"It's okay." I cut him off, satisfied with his apology. "I'm glad you were standing up for Percy,".
"See Charlotte, she says it's okay!" Jack turns to Charlotte, triumphant, but Charlotte only rolls her eyes.
"Sorry about him. It's a pride thing," she says in an exasperated tone.
I laugh. "You and I are going to get along just fine," I say, and she smiles in agreement. "But for now, Percy and I have some catching up to do."
"I couldn't agree more," Percy says, and loops his arm around my back, guiding me to my next class.
Sooo . . . better? Worse? Let me know! I'll also be answering comments left on the previous version here.
To HufflepuffDaughterofSirius: Thanks!
To FallsDownStairs: you commented four years ago, but I still remember reading your comment and it making my day. Thank you.
