A/N-Sorry, I have not started the story yet and it will still not start in this chapter. I will still continue the protagonist's back-story. Well, I forgot to mention (is this always necessary?). I do not own Pokémon, all respective copyrights and trademarks belong to Nintendo and Gamefreak . I am just a fan fantasizing my way of the story.
Ashley couldn't sleep. This was the first time that she experienced that horrendous sight in her nightmares. It felt so real, so original just like the time when it had happened.
She still remembered, the next day at the funeral, everyone was there except her father. He wasn't ever seen after that. Ashley was all alone only to be taken under his care by Gary Oak, a family friend.
She still remembered, the gift her mom had promised appearing the same day, a gift meant for her birthday received in the evening after her mom's funeral. It had a note addressed to her.
To my sweetie Ashley,
As I had promised, it's your 10th birthday and here's your present.

Mom
As she opened it up a white ball of fur jumped out. It was a Vulpix and as her mom has told her, a unique one. It was a shiny Alolan Vulpix. Seeing it didn't make her happy but when it tried to cheer her up she ended up smiling a little. She named her Sparkle and they became best friends, or perhaps the only friend that she has.
She looked out of the window, "Its dawn already", she thought, "Maybe I should agree to what Prof. Oak told me". She gazed at the little sparkling Pokémon, sleeping in her own bed. Ashley got off the bed, careful not to wake Sparkle up, freshened up, changed and got her backpack ready. She moved down the stairs and got in the kitchen to cook up something for breakfast. A picture of her and her parents caught her eye. She stared into it sadly as she saw her mother she looked beautiful, that photo was of the same day when her mother died. Her sorrow soon changed into anger as she moved on to gaze at her father. "Why did you! ", She cried, "Why did you leave me all alone in the world". She was so loud that Sparkle woke up. She came rushing down to her trainer and jumped into her arms, frightened. Ashley looked at her Pokémon sensing her fear. She calmed down and apologized to her Pokémon, "Sorry, I scared you". Sparkle looked at her trainer, still shivering. "Wanna eat some poke-puffs", Ashley smiled. The Vulpix replied with a nod and smile, "Vuul-pix".
After breakfast, the duo ran off to the Pokémon lab in the town. Sparkle hopped on to her trainer's shoulder on the way. They didn't know a surprise was awaiting them at the lab.
A/N-So, How is it? Please tell me if I am pulling it long. By the way the adventure starts right from the next chapter.
