"Edward, are you okay?" Rose asked. She was twirling around her fork and eyeing the spaghetti on her plate, in both disgust and gratefulness. School is the only time we can have good food. Or any food, for that matter. "I miss them." I hear Rose whisper. Tears prick in her eyes and she looks away.
"I think the real question is, are you okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, I-I'm fine. Just a sting in my eye, is all. What's up with you?" She sniffs and looks back down at her food.
"It's just… This girl, in my homeroom class… She was writing something and she had this… look on her face that…" I sighed. "Wasn't pretty."
"What was she writing?" Rose looks at me, curious.
"She was writing I love Emmett Cullen in very big letters!" I'm interrupted by Emmett. He grins big at me and drops his tray on the table, making a big crash sound. Sound stops for a moment and everyone turns and looks at our table.
Rose glares at him and then darts her attention back to me. "Now, seriously, what was she-"
Yet another interruption, this time from Alice. "Oooh, first day and Eddie's already got a wittle girlfriend! What's her name? Is she pretty? Tell me!"
I grit my teeth together. "DOES ANYONE REMEMBER THAT WE'RE NOT HERE UNDER GOOD CIRCUMSTANCES?!" I shout at them.
Our table falls silent and everyone looks down at their food.
"What did the note say?" Rose whispers to me.
"I. DON'T. KNOW!" I yell at her. I slam out my seat, it falls to the ground, and I storm out just as Jasper enters the cafeteria.
