A/N: Sorry I haven't updated in so long! I had writer's block, so I watched Inuyasha and Inuyasha the Final Act again. And then I watched all the movies.
"Kagome, wake up."
Kagome opened an eye as she was awoken from her sleep. Gazing up at the intruder, her eyes locked with another pair.
"Sesshomaru!"
Kagome tried to sit up so she could see her friend properly, but the blanket was tangled around her legs. When she went to sit up, she tumbled back on the bed. Kagome felt her face hating up, but Sesshomaru let an amused smirk on his lips.
"You always knew how to make me chuckle, Kagome."
Kagome's blush deepened as she finally pulled the blanket off her body. She looked up at Sesshomaru, trying to control her blush.
"I...uh...Let's just forget that happened." Kagome muttered, trying to think of something they could talk about. "Thank you, for helping me."
"I couldn't let him hurt you like that."
Kagome beamed up at him. Sesshomaru and she had always had a close relationship, all because they bonded through Inuyasha. Now even if Inuyasha was gone, she was happy to know that Sesshomaru still cared for her.
"Are you hurt?"
"Huh?"
"When he hit you, did it hurt?"
Finally understanding what he was talking about, Kagome nodded. "Yeah, but I'll live. It's not the first time he hit me."
"It will be the last."
Kagome smiled. "Thanks Sesshomaru. I used to defend him, saying that he didn't mean it, that he was drunk, but I guess...I guess I have to admit to myself that he would do it again. Well, he won't do it again." Determined brown eyes met obsidian ones. "I'm going to end it."
Sesshomaru smiled. "Good. Now, are you hungry?"
Kagome's stomach rumbled.
"I'll take that as a yes."
While Sesshomaru was making their breakfast, Kagome had busied herself with getting ready. She gazed around the room that she now resided in, recognising it as Inuyasha's room.
Kagome sighed. She missed Inuyasha so much. He had always been the one to cheer her up when she had a bad day, and when her parents were arguing, Kagome would sneak out and go see Inuyasha. He always waited up for her, and when she arrived, he would invite her in and they would sleep downstairs, staying up all night to talk to each other.
Over the years, Kagome had watched Inuyasha grow from a happy child to a handsome young adult. He was always the life of the party, no matter how old he grew. His smile could attract anyone, and many girls fell in love with him, including Kagome.
Kagome had liked him for a very long time. Sometimes, she'd have dreams where Inuyasha and she would grow up and get married. In her dreams, she would walk down the aisle in a flowing dress, and Inuyasha would watch in delight. He'd proudly turn to his best man and whisper, "She's mine." He would then turn back to face her as she finally reached him, and they would live happily ever after. Kagome even thought that Inuyasha returned her feelings, but everything changed when Kikyou moved in to town. Kagome remembered the day her world came crashing down like it was yesterday.
...
"Finally, the school day is over!" Sango cheered, leaving her lesson with Kagome in tow. "Why are Fridays always so slow?"
Following the two women were Miroku and Inuyasha. "Just remember," Inuyasha said, falling into his role of the optimistic of the group, "We are attending one of the best parties ever tonight!"
Miroku chuckled, "I have to agree with Inuyasha. What could be better than a nice party after a long day of school?"
Sango and Kagome nodded in agreement. The four were quite popular in their school, all thanks to Inuyasha. Miroku and Sango had been voted the cutest couple and Kagome – although not as popular as some students – was one of the most popular girls in school. Due to their popularity, the four were invited to every party that was hosted.
"This is going to be awesome!" Inuyasha cheered. "For one, everyone says it's going to be the best party of the year."
"You said that last week," Sango muttered, causing Kagome to giggle.
"Plus, Kikyou will be there!" The other three stopped in their tracks to look at the teenager.
"May I ask who Kikyou is?" Miroku asked.
"Oh, she's a family friend." Inuyasha began, "Her mom went to school with my mom and my mom helped her mom stand up for herself, while her mom helped my mom with her studies. They moved away when her mom got married, and now, they're back!" Inuyasha let out a small grin."Kikyou and I have always kept in contact, and when I found out that she was coming back, Sesshomaru and I decided to help her move in. I can't wait for you to meet her!""
Kagome stared up at her best friend and secret crush. With just a gaze, she could tell. Inuyasha was in love and it wasn't with her.
...
Kagome sighed as she remembered that night. The party had been awesome; truly the best the four had attended. Inuyasha had introduced them to Kikyou, and Inuyasha and Kikyou had admitted their feelings for each other soon after. The group of four friends turned into a trio. And, six months later, Inuyasha went to Kikyou's house and never came back.
It wasn't like she hated Inuyasha for not falling in love with her. She had been the one to keep her feelings hidden. Inuyasha had always been the oblivious one of the group; there was no way that he'd figure out on his own that Kagome liked him.
Kagome was ripped out from her thoughts when she heard Sesshomaru behind her.
"Breakfast is ready."
"So, are you still living with your parents?"
The eighteen year old female looked up, "No. I was living with Kouga, but I guess now I'm not now."
"You could always stay here."
Kagome beamed, "Really? Thanks, Sesshomaru!"
Once the two finished eating, Kagome took it on herself to do the washing up, as thanks for Sesshomaru and everything he'd done for her. "Do you have any plans for today?"
Sesshomaru nodded, "I'm going to see someone in hospital. Do you want to come?"
Kagome smiled. "Sure." If it means staying with you...
