Chapter 2
Emma's POV
I was walking around the ship when I came across Ani and Padme. He was curled up in a little ball, probably from how cold it was. I stopped behind a wall, so as not to intrude on the two, but as I listened, I heard Padme ask Ani if he was alright.
"It's very cold." was all he said, clearly shivering. A small smirk grew on my face when I saw Padme walk over to him, a blanket in hand.
"You and your sister come from a warm planet, Ani. A little too warm for my taste. Space is cold." she crooned as she lay the blanket on my little brother.
Staring up at her, he said with a frown on his face "You seem sad." It was abvious that he was worried about the handmaiden.
With a sigh, Padme said "The queen is worried. Her people are suffering, dying. She must convince the senate to intervene, or...I'm not sure what will happen."
As she said this, a question popped into my mind. 'Why is she talking as though she is speaking more about herself than the queen? She must be hiding something.' I shook my head, getting rid of the thought, and turned back to the two.
As I looked over, I saw Ani reach out from under the blanket, saying "I made this for you." and he handed a little charm necklace. "So you'd remember me. I carved it out of a japor snippet. It will bring you good fortune."
"It's beautiful. But I don't need this to remember you by." Padme said in awe.
Ani looked up, a smirk ever present on his face. I smiled to myself. Little Ani was so young, so naive. He didn't truly understand that everything was about to change.
Apparently, Padme agreed with me. She said with a sigh "Many things will change when we reach the capital, Ani, but my caring for you will remain.
"Eavesdropping are we?" a voice whispered behind me as I whipped my head around to see who had just busted me.
"You know, some people would find this very suspicous." a smug Obi-Wan said.
I scowled "He's my little brother. I am allowed to listen in on his conversations. Now go away."
"Now why would I do that when I just got a decent amount of leverage on you." he said with a cocky smirk. "After all, I wonder how Anakin would react to find out his sister was listening to his conversations."
I growled in obvious annoyance. "Are all Jedi this annoying? Cuz if they are, I would like to know now before I have to meet them." I looked at the padawan, finally getting a glance at his features.
I have to admit it, he was pretty damn cute. He had neatly cut blonde-red hair, that stood up on it's own. He had a sharp jaw line, and his smirk would make most girls faint. The thing that really caught my attention was his eyes. They were a bright blue, that any girl could get lost in. I thought to myself 'Girls must throw themselves at him every where he goes'
Unfortunately, Obi-Wan saw me looking at him and said arrogantly "You like what you see?"
I scoffed "Yeah in your dreams. Oh, and don't give me any of that bull. I saw you staring at me too."
He blushed, obviously he didn't expect me too catch him staring. I turned around to see that Padme had left. "Great, I missed the rest of their conversation. Now if you would excuse me." I turned at walked away towards Ani.
"Hey kid. How you doing?" I joked with a small smile.
"I'm okay. Can you sing me to sleep?" he asked with a tired look on his face.
"Okay I'll sing you one song. You got it?" he nodded his head quickly, and I sighed, trying to think of one to sing. Suddenly, I got an idea.
A gentle breeze from Hushabye Mountain
Softly blows o'er lullaby bay.
It fills the sails of boats that are waiting-
Waiting to sail your worries away.
It isn't far to Hushabye Mountain
And your boat waits down by the quay.
The winds of night so softly are sighing-
Soon they will fly your troubles to sea.
So close your eyes on Hushabye Mountain.
Wave good-bye to cares of the day.
And watch your boat from Hushabye Mountain
Sail far away from lullaby bay.
I looked over to see that Ani had fallen asleep on my shoulder. I smiled and adjusted myself so my head was resting on his. I closed my eyes, and soon I had fallen asleep. But what I didn't know, was that Obi-Wan had not moved, and was watching as I sang, and as I slept.
Time Skip
We had just arrived on Coruscant when we got off the ship. Ani and I were following behind the Jedi when we were approached by two men. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon bowed to the men, and Ani followed suit, while I stood by my brother and watched the men suspicously, earning a confused glance from Ani. We stepped aside so the queen and her handmaidens could approach the men.
Senator Palpatine smiled and said "It is a great gift to see you alive, Your Majesty. With the communications breakdown, we've been very concerned. I'm anxious to hear your reports on the situation."
While all this was being said, Qui-Gon had put his hands on Ani's shoulders, positioning him in front of himself. Naturally, I stood beside my brother, and I saw him and Padme share a smile.
The one who had been talking the introduced the man next to him as "Supreme Chancellor Valorum."
The one now identified as Vallorum said in a monotone voice "Welcom, Your Highness. It's an honor to finally meet you in person."
Queen Amidala said gracefully "Thank you, Supreme Chancellor."
We all began walking as he responded "I must realy to you how distressed everyone is over the current situation. I've called for a special session of the senate to hear your position."
"I'm grateful for your concern, Chancellor."
'Emma, what's going on?' I sighed. 'Polotics, Ani. Don't bother questioning it. They are too confusing for a ten year old.' 'Do you understand it?' 'More or less. Besides, it is not our place to understand it yet.' 'Okay.'
The other man then began talking. "There is a question of procedure, but I'm confident we can overcome it."
Qui-Gon then began speaking to the Chancellor and Obi-Wan. "I must speak to the Jedi Council immediately. The situation has become much more complicated."
I saw Ani turn around and look at the Jedi, and I chided him "Come on Ani." I grabbed his hand and dragged him along with me, but not before sharing a look with Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon.
We all got in the speeder, and Ani and I were seated next to Jar Jar. "The queen's a bein' grossly nice, mesa tinks. Pitty hot." I just shook my head and chuckled at the Gungan as we flew off.
Ani, Jar Jar, and I were waiting outside when Captain Panaka went to see the queen.
I could here Palpatine saying "There is no civility, only polotics. The Republic is not what it once was. The senate is full of Greedy, squabbling delegates. There is no interest in the common good. I must be frank, Your Majesty. There is little chance the senate will act on the invasion."
"Chancellor Valorum seems to think there is hope."
"If I may say so, Your Majesty, the chancellor has little real power. He is mired by baseless accusations of corrruption. The bureaucrats arae in charge now."
"What options have we?"
"Our best choice would be to push for the election of a stronger supreme chancellor, one who could control the bureaucrats and give us justice."
At this statement, I felt a chill go through me. Something about this man gave me a weird vibe.
"You could call for a vote of no confidence in Chancellor Valorum."
"He's been our strongest supporter."
"Our only other choice would be to submit a plea to the courts.
"The courts take even longers to decide things than the senate." the queen said, frustration evident in her voice. I understood her pain, the pain of not knowing what was going to happen, and worst of all, the waiting.
"Our people are dying, Senator. We must do something quickly to stop the Federation."
"To be realistic, Your Majesty, I think we're going to have to accept Federation control for the time being."
"That is something I can not do."
The Jedi Council
Qui-Gon stood in front of the council. He was talking about the Sith that had attacked him. "He was trained in the Jedi arts. My only conclusion can be that it was a Sith lord.
Ki-Adi-Mundi was the first to speak up. "Impossible. The Sith have been extinct for a millenium.
The next to speak was Jedi Master Mace Windu. "I do not believe the Sith could have returned without us knowing."
"Ah, hard to see, the dark side is." This came from Master Yoda.
"We will use all our resources to unravel this mystery. We will discover the identity of your attacker. May the Force be with you." Windu said calmly.
Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon bowed. As Obi-Wan began to walk away, Master Yoda suddenly spoke up.
"Master Qui-Gon. More to say have you?"
"With your permission, my master, I have encountered two vergences in the Force.
"Two vergences, you say?"
"Located around two people?" Windu asked sceptically.
"A boy and a girl. Siblings, actually. cells have the highest concentrations of midi-chlorians I have seen in a life-form, let alone two. It is possible they were conceived by the midi-chlorians."
Everyone on the council shared glances. Mace Windu spoke for everyone when he said "You refer to the prophecy of the ones who will bring balance to the Force. You believe it's this boy and girl?"
"I don't presume to..." Qui-Gon began but was interupted by Yoda.
"But you do. Revealed your opinion is. I request the children be tested, Master."
"Oh? Trained as Jedi you request for them, hmm?"
"Finding them was the will of the Force. I have no doubt of that."
Master Windu sighed. "Bring them before us, then."
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan bowed and left.
Back with the Queen
Ani and I stood in front of the guard as he said on hhis com link "The boy and his sister ae here to see Padme."
A woman over the the speeker said "Let them in."
As we walked in, a woman approached us and said "I'm sorry, Ani but Padme's not here right now."
'What am I, invisible?' I asked myslef, slightly insulted that she didn't even acknowledge me.
The queen then appeared before them and asked who it was.
"Anakin and Emma Skywalker to see Padme, Your highness." the handmaiden responded.
"I've sent Padme on a errand."
"We're on our way to the Hedi Temple to start our training, I hope. I may never see her again, so I came to say goodbye."
"We will tell her for you. We are sure her heart goes with you."
"Thank you, Your Highness."
As Ani walked out, I quickly said to the queen "Your Majesty, if you could, I would be forever grateful if you told Padme that I will miss her. She has been a very good friend to my brother and I."
"Of course." the queen said, a small smile slowly creeping onto her face.
"Thank you." I bowed and went after my brother. "Ani!" I yelled after the young boy.
"What Emma?" he asked.
I sighed. "There is something you need to understand. The Jedi may train you, but it is highly unlikely that they will train me."
"What, why?" he asked, clearly confused.
"Ani, I'm nineteen. Your ten. I am probably far too old to be trained."
"But Emma..."
"No 'buts' Ani, it is the truth. I am most likely to not become a Jedi." I said solemnly.
"If they don't train you, then they won't train me."
"No Anakin, I will not let you give up your future for me. If you can, you will be trained." I stated, my mind completely made up.
At the Jedi Council.
"The two will no pass the council's test, Master. They are too old. Especially the girl." Obi- Wan said to Qui-Gon.
"Anakin and Emma will become Jedi, I promise you."
"Do not defy the council, Master, not again."
"I shall do what I must, Obi-Wan."
"If you would just follow the code, you would be on the council. They will not go along with you this time."
"You still have much to learn, my young apprentice."
Ani and I stood in front of the council, as we were being tested. Master Windu was holding a screen in front of us, but we could not see what it showed. Our test was to say what was being shown.
Simultaneously, Ani and I continued to answer. "A ship. A cup. A speeder."
"How feel you?" inquired Master Yoda.
Ani answered first. "Cold Sir."
"And you?" he pointed towards me.
"Doubtful. Uncertain." I replied solemnly. I knew in my heart that they were not going to train me. I just hoped that the same was not for Anakin.
"Afraid, are you?" Yoda asked us.
"No, sir." we answered.
"See through you we can."
"Be mindful of your feelings." commented Master Windu.
"Your thoughts dwell on your mother." said Ki-Adi-Mundi.
"I miss her." Ani stated sorrowfully. I looked at him, and took his hand. 'So do I, Ani. So do I.' He looked up at me and smiled.
"Established a telepathic link, you two have, I see. Afraid to lose her, I think, mmm?"
"What has that got to do with anything?" he asked. "Ani!" I whispered yelled at my brother. 'Sorry.'
"Everything. Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering."
Throughout this, I kept thinking to myself 'Please train him. He deserves a better life than what he has. I don't care if you don't train me, just please train Ani.'
"Worried for you, your sister is." Yoda stated thoughtfully. I nodded my head slowly.
"I sense much fear in you." Yoda stated to Ani. "And much worry in you." I could tell that was directed at me. I simply closed my eyes, concentrated on Ani, and tightened my grip on his hand.
Time Skip
"The Force is strong with them." Ki-Adi-Mundi stated.
"They are to be trained then?" Qui-Gon stated hopefully.
I looked down at Ani when Master Windu said "No, they will not be trained."
"No?" Qui-Gon stated, shock evident in his voice.
"They are too old." 'Especially the girl.' Mace Windu thought to himself.
I closed my eyes, tears threatening to spill. 'Ani, I am so sorry.' 'I don't understand.' 'I know kid, I know.' I thought to myself 'Why? Why him? I can understand why they won't train me, but why won't they train him? He deserves this life. I may have lost hope a long time ago, but Ani never did.' I grabbed Ani's hand, attempting to comfort him.
"They are the Chosen ones. You must see it." Qui-Gon argued.
"Mmm. Clouded their futures are."
"I will train them, then."
I looked up at Qui-Gon, my face not showing how shocked I was.
"I take Anakin and Emma as my Padawan learners."
"An apprentice you have, Qui-Gon. Impossible to take on a second and third."
"The code forbids it."
"Obi-Wan is ready."
Obi-Wan took this moment to chime in "I am ready to face the trials."
"Our own counsel we will keep on who is ready."
"He is head strong and he has much to learn of the living force, but he is capable. There is little more he can learn from me." Qui-Gon stated about his apprentice.
"Young Skywalker's fate will be decided later."
'I guess that means my fate has already been decided.' I thought to myself. I had known this is wha would happen, I had just hoped that Ani would not have to go through it, too.
"Now is not the time for this. The senate is voting for a new supreme chancellor, and Queen Amidala is returning home, which will put pressure on the Federation and could widen the confrontation."
"And draw out the queen's attacker."
"Go with the queen to Naboo and discover the identity of this dark warrior. This is the clue we need to unravel the mystery of the Sith."
"May the Force be with you."
We bowed and left, my hand never leaving Ani's.
On the landing platform
Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon were walking. "It's not disrespect, Master. It's the truth." the padawan stated.
"From your point of view."
"The boy and girl are dangerous. They all sense it. Why can't you?"
"Their fates are uncertain. They are not dangerous. Besides, I think you just don't like the girl. The Council will decide their futures. That should be enough for you. Now get on board."
"You're right about one thing, I really don't like the girl." Obi-Wan mumbled under his breath.
"Hey! I heard that!" I shouted at him, a smirk ever present on my face. He just looked my way and kept walking.
Anakin walked up to Qui-Gon, while I stayed back with R2. "Qui-Gon, sir, I don't want to be a problem."
'Huh, I was thinking the same thing.'
"You won't be, Ani. Neither will you, Emma." Clearly, he knew what I was thinking somehow.
"I'm not allowed to train either of you, so I want you to watch me and be mindful."
"No need to tell me that. I've been watching all of you since the first day we met." I said under my breath.
"Always remember: Your focus determines your reality. Stay close to me and you'll be safe." Qui-Gon said, probably choosing to ignore my comment.
"Qui-Gon, sir. I heard Yoda talking about midi-chlorians. I've been wondering- What are midi-chlorians?" Ani asked, genuinely interested. I had to admit, so was I.
"Midi-chlorians are a microscopic life-form that resides within all living cells.
"They live inside us?" I asked, deciding to join in on the conversation.
"Inside your cells, yes. And we are symbionts with them."
"Symbionts?" Ani and I asked in unison.
"Life-forms living together for mutual advantage. Without th midi-chlorians, life could not exist and we would have no knowledge of the Force. They continually speak to us, telling us the will of the Force. When you learn to quiet your mind, you'll hear them speaking to you."
"I don't understand." Ani said. I laughed at this, earning a glare from him.
"With time and training, Ani, you will. You will."
"Hey! What about me?" I yelled sarcastically.
"So will you, Emma." Qui-Gon stated, amused at my mock outburst. At this, I smiled, and followe them onto the ship.
"Your Majesty, it is our pleasure to continue to serve and protect you." Qui-Gon said.
"I welcom your help. Senator Palpatine fears that the Federation means to destroy me." I shivered at the mention of the senator's name
"I assure you I will not let that happen."
I laugh when I hear Jar Jar yell "Wesa goin' ho-o-o-me!"
"Come on R2." I say as Ani and I head onto the ship.
Time Skip
We were about to arrive on Coruscant, and Ani and I were in the cockpit with the pilot.
"Those are the forward stabilizers." the pilot said.
"And those two control the pitch?" Ani and I said.
The pilot looked over at us and smiled. "You catch on pretty quick."
On Naboo
We had just arrived on Naboo, and we were currently in the Gungan swamps. Jar Jar had gone down to see if his people were there, and I was listening to Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon's conversation.
"I'm- I'm sorry for my behavior, Master. It's not my place to disagree with you about the boy and his sister. And I am grateful you think I'm ready to take the trials."
"You've been a good apprentice, Obi-Wan. And you're a much wiser man than I am. I will foresee you will become a great Jedi Knight."
With that Qui-Gon walked away, and I approached Obi-Wan. "So did you two kiss and make up?" my voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Well, if it isn't the little eavesdropper. What do you want?"
"Well, seeing that we might die today, and I know absolutely nothing about you other than your name and that you are arrogant, I figured now is as good a time as any." I said jokingly.
He scoffed, but gave in and said "What do you want to know?"
"Hmmm, favorite color?"
"Blue."
"Favorite planet?"
"Coruscant."
"How old are you?"
"Twenty five." I thought to myself 'Huh, only six years older than me.'
"Who you look up to?"
"Qui-Gon. Now its my turn. How old are you?"
"Nineteen."
"What was your life like?"
I sighed. "You might want to sit down for this."
"Well, before I met Qui-Gon, I was a slave, just like Anakin and our mother. Ani was lucky though. All anybody used him for was fixing and cleaning things, and podracing. I did those things, too, but being a girl, I was also used for, entertainment." I shuddered at the memories.
"Luckily, my owners never let anyone mess around with me too much, they said they didn't want 'damaged goods'. I think I was lucky when I was sold to Watto, because all I ever did for him was clean, fix things, and podrace. The day that Qui-Gon walked into his shop was probably the best day of my life, other than when Ani was born."
I looked over to see Obi-Wan in a state of shock. I punched him in the arm and said "Don't look so shocked, I got it easy compared to most girls back home. Besides, we better head over to where everyone else is." With that, I stood up and walked over to Ani.
Gungan's Sacred Place
We arrived at the place where all the Gungan's were and I have to admit, there are a lot of them. We were escorted to their leader, Boss Nass and one of the guards announced "Your Honor, Queen Amidala of the Naboo."
"Uh, h-heyo dadee, Big Boss Nass, Your Honor." Jar Jar said, clearly frightened.
"Jar Jar Binks. Who's da uss-en uthers?"
"I am Queen Amidala of the Naboo. I come before you in peace."
"Yousa all bombad."
"We have searched you out because we wish to form an alliance."
Suddenly, Padme interrupted the queen. "Your Honor."
"Whosa dis?"
"I am Queen Amidala." Padme said.
'What! Ha, I knew she wasn't just a handmaiden.' Ani gave me a look of confusion, and I just smiled.
"This is my decoy, my protection, my loyal bodyguard. I'm sorry for my decpetion, but it was necessary to protect myself. Although we do not always agree, Your Honor, our two great societies have always lived in peace. The Trade Federation has destroyed all that we have worked so hard to build. If we do not act quickly, all will be lost forever. I ask you to help us. No, I beg you to help us." Padme got down on her knees, shocking us all. "We are your humble servants. Our fate is in your hands."
We all followed suit, going down on our knees, obviously pleasing the Gungan.
"Mmm. Ha ha ha ha ha! Yousa no tinken yousa greater den da Gungans? Me-e-esa lika dis! Maybe wesa bein friends."
This sent all of us into cheers, including me, since I unknowingly through my arms around the closest person to me, that person being Obi-Wan. When I realized this, I quickly with drew my arms, and pulled Ani into a warm embrace.
Ani and I were standing watch when a Gungan yelled down to us "Deysa comin!"
"All right!" I shouted as we ran back to tell the others.
"They're here!" Ani yelled as we reached them.
"Good, they made it." Padme said just as a bunch of speeders appeared.
"What is the situation?" Padme asked Captain Panaka.
"Almost everyone's in camps. A few hundred police and guards have formed an underground resistance movement. I brought back as many of the leaders as I could. The Federation army's also much larger than we thought, and much stronger. Your Highness, this is a battle I do not think that we can win."
"The battle is a diversion. The Gungans must draw the droid army away from the cities. R2."
R2 showed a hologram of the palace. "We can enter the city using the secret passages on the waterfall side. Once we get to the main entrance, Captain Panaka will create a diversion. Then we can enter the palace and capture the viceroy. Without the viceroy, they will be lost and confused. What do you think, Master Jedi?"
"The viceroy will be well-guarded."
"The difficulty is getting into the throne room. Once we're inside, we shouldn't have a problem." said Captain Panaka.
"There is a possibilty, with this diversion, many Gungans will be killed." Qui-Gon said, not a hint of humor in his voice.
I looked down at Ani. 'You alright?' 'Yeah, I'm fine.' 'Good.'
"Wesa ready to do our-san oart." Boss Nass said proudly.
I looked at Padme as she said "We have a plan which should immobilize the droid army. We will send what pilots we have to knock out the droid control ship orbiting the planet."
"A well-conceived plan. However, there's great risk. The weapons on your fighters may not penetrate the shields." commented Qui-Gon.
Obi-Wan also decided to say "There's an even bigger danger. If the viceroy escapes, Your Highness, he will return with another droid army."
"Well that is why we must not fail to get the viceroy. Everything depends on it." I merely nodded my head in agreement.
Line break
We arrived at the palace, and Padme used a laser light to signal that we were in position.
Qui-Gon took Ani's shoulders and said "Once we get inside, you find a safe place to hide and stay there. That goes for you too, Emma."
"But Qui-Gon," I complained. "I'm nineteen, and I know how to fight. I could be of some use to Padme."
"Okay, but Anakin, find a place to hide."
"Sure."
"You better stay there, squirt, or I'm gonna pund your little ass so hard into the ground, you'll be back on Tatooine."
When the others started the diversion, we all followed Padme onto the landing platform, weapons drawn to defend ourselves. I held my blaster as we arrivedbegan shooting at the droids who were watching over the hanger.
"Ani, find cover!" I yelled to him as we continued shooting.
Padme yelled to the pilots "Get to your ships!"
I looked over to see if Ani had found cover yet, and I felt a seering pain go up through my arm.
"Ahh!" I yelled, as a droid had shot my arm. Obi-Wan looked over to me, concern written all over his face.
"I'm fine!" I told him, as we continued to shoot at the droids.
The pilots ran to their ships, some of them getting shot down in the process.
I looked over once again to see Ani climbing into one of the fighters. I sighed in relief, glad that he was safe.
The fighters began to fly out of the hanger, one of them getting shot down, but the others making it out safely.
We had just destoyed the last of the droids and Padme had just told Captain Panaka "My guess is the viceroy's in the throne room."
"Red Group, Blue Group." Panaka yelled. "Everybody this way."
I heard Ani yell from the fighter "Hey wait for me!"
I turned around and said "Ani, do not move from that spot. You're safer there."
"But I..." he began but Qui-Gon interrupted.
"Stay in that cockpit."
'You're safer there than anywhere else. Please don't leave that spot. For my sake.' 'Fine.'
I sighed with relief that he was going to listen to me this time.
We were headed fore the door when it opened, revealing the Sith that had attacked us Tatooine.
"We'll handle this." Qui-Gon said as he and Obi-Wan walked forward. I looked at the two, and Qui-Gon said "Go with Padme, Emma." I nodded my head and looked Obi-Wan. I whispered "Stay alive." to him and he just smirked, making me smile.
Padme then said "We'll take the long way."
We were about to leave when three destroyer droids appeared. They began shooting at us, as the three men began deuling. We were lucky though. Because out of nowhere, I saw Ani take control of the fighter, and he shot down the droids. I gasped when I saw him leave the hanger. 'Be safe.'
"Let's go!" Padme shouted to us. I reluctantly followed. We ran through the halls, blasting at the droids we came across. We were stuck in one area, blasting at the droids, but the seemed to just keep coming.
"We don't have time for this." Padme said.
I looked at the window, and suddenly I had an idea.
"Padme!" I shouted. She looked over at me. I gestured to the window. With a smug look on my face, I said "After you, milady." She smirked.
I blasted open the window, and we all rushed over to it. "Estension guns!" Captain Panaka told us.
We all stood on the window ledge. We shot up, and soon, we were being pulled up to the next level. It hurt my injured arm to hold on, but I managed. When we got to the top, we disabled the guns, and Padme blasted the window open. We charged in and headed for the throne room.
We were almost to the throne room when we were stopped by droidekas.
"Put down your weapons." Padme said. "They win this round."
I did as I was told, but what nobody knoew, was that I had a second blaster hidden away in my sleeve.
The droids took us to the throne room, and we were presented to the viceroy.
"Your little insurrection is at an end, Your Highness. Time for you to sign the treaty and end this pointless debate in the senate." the viceroy said to Padme.
Suddenly, Sabe appeared. "Viceroy! Your occupation here has ended.
"After her! This one is a decoy!" The droids began to go after the others, and we used this to our advantage. Padme sat down in the throne and opened a compartment, grabbing a gun for herself and tossing one to Captain Panaka. I shot at the the remaining droids as the others djammed the doors.
"Now viceroy, we will discuss a new treaty." Padme said maliciously.
Suddenly, I felt a rush of cold go through me. Something was telling me that something bad had happened. "Padme" I said. "There's something I need to do." She nodded at me to go ahead, and I followed whatever it was that was telling me where to go.
I arrived at a room surrounded by energy beams. When they went down, I saw somone holding a body. It was Obi-Wan, and he was holding a dead Qui-Gon. I slowly approached, so as not to frighten him.
It was useless, though, as he sensed my presense."I'm so sorry." I said quietly. He just nodded. I knelt down next to him and did the only thing I could, I held him. I held him as he cried, and when he started to calm down, I began to sing.
If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in a river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
Lord make me a rainbow, I'll shine down on my mother
She'll know I'm safe with you when she stands under my colors, oh,
And life ain't always what you think it ought to be, no
Ain't even grey, but she buries her baby
The sharp knife of a short life, oh well
I've had just enough time
If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
He looked at me, and I simply smiled. But on the inside, I was crying my heart out. Oh well, one of us has to be strong, and I think im gonna have to be the strong one for Ani too.
Time Skip
the viceroy was being taken into custody, and I stood aside as Padme said "Now viceroy, you're going to have to go back to the senate and explain all this." I chuckled, as I found the whole situation amusing.
"I think you can kiss your trade franchise goodbye." Captain Panaka said as he took them away.
Ani, Obi-Wan, and I were walking as we were approached by Palpatine. We bowed respectfully, even though I still had a bad feeling about the man.
"We are indepted to you for your bravery Obi-Wan Kenobi. And you too, young Skywalkers. We will watch your careers with great interest." I glared at him when he touched Ani's shoulder. 'Again, with the young!' 'Easy, Emma. Easy.'
Obi-Wan and Yoda
"Confront you, the level of Jedi Knight, the council does. But agree with your taking this boy and girl as your padawan learners, I do not!" Yoda said to the kneeling Obi-Wan.
"Qui-Gon believed in them."
Yoda sighed. "The Chosen Ones, the two may be, never the less, grave danger I fear in their training."
"Master Yoda, I gave Qui-Gon my word. I will train Anakin and Emma." Master Yoda let out a groan. "Without the approval of the Council if I must.
"Qui-Gon's defiance, I sense in you. Need that, you do not. Hmmm. Agree with you the Council does. Your apprentice, the boy will be."
"And what of the girl?" Obi-Wan asked, confusion lacing his voice.
"My apprentice, the girl will be."
Obi-Wan bowed respectfully, grateful that he could carry out his Master's last wish.
The Funeral
We stood in front of the burning pyre, as this was Qui-Gon's funeral. To the left of me stood Ani, and next to him, Obi-Wan.
I looked down at Ani, as he turned to face Obi-Wan. "What will happen to me now?" he asked the new Jedi Knight.
"The Council has granted me permission to train you. You will be a Jedi, I promise."
I smiled at hearing this, grateful that Ani would have a chance at his dream.
"What will happen to Emma?" Ani asked. I had to admit, I was curious as to what they decided for me.
"Master Yoda has taken you on as an apprentice. His first in years, actually." Obi-Wan said to me. I was shocked, that the Grand Master of the Jedi Council was making me on as a padawan. Of course, my face did not show the shock. I simply nodded to Obi-Wan.
I saw that Ani was about to cry, so I took his hand and squeezed it gently. 'Everything will be alright, Ani. I promise.' 'I'm gonna miss him.' 'So will I.'
I then over heard Master Windu and Master Yoda speaking about the Sith.
"There's no doubt the fierce warrior was a Sith." Windu said.
"Always two, there are, no more, no less. A Master, and an apprentice."
"But which was destroyed, the Master, or the apprentice?"
For some reason, when I heard this, my insticnts told me to look at the newly elected, Chancellor Palpatine.
The Festival of Peace.
The Gungans marched throught the streets, blasting horns, and everyone was cheering. Speeders flew through the air, and everywhere around me there was music playing, and people cheering. Times like this reminded me of why we must keep fighting, even when times are difficult.
We stood at the top of the steps. To the right of me was my new master, and the left of me was Ani. His hair had been cut, and we both fashioned the tunics Jedi wear, along with padawan braids. While Ani's was sand colored, my tunic consisted of greys and browns. Next to Ani stood Obi-Wan, then The governor, who held the Peace Globe, then Padme, and lastly, Palpatine.
Obi-Wan and I both looked down at Ani, and I could not help but smile at him. I noticed Yoda staring up at me, and I turned my head so I could smile at him. I was very grateful that he took me on as his apprentice.
Jar Jar, Captain Tarpals, and Boss Nass began to accend the stairs. The governor handed Padme the globe. As they stopped in front of us, Padme handedd it to Boss Nass, her face plastered with a huge smile.
As he took it, Boss Nass held it up for all to see and shouted "Peace!" causing everyone to cheer.
I saw Padme turn to look at Ani, and she gave him a huge smile. He in turn, gave her a simple smirk, causeing her smile to grow wider. I look up and turned to see Obi-Wan looking at me. I gave him a simple smirk, one which he returned. I heard Master Yoda give a "Hmph" directed towards me, but I didn't care. I was quite happy where I was.
Next Time: Ten Years Later
It had been ten years, ten years since I had seen Ani and Obi-Wan. I wondered what they woud look like. I mean, I myself had changed quite a bit. I had grown taller by about five inches, and so had my hair. It was down to my waist now, and I usually kept it in a braid, where as It had been about shoulder blade length. I had acquired more curves, but that was expecteed. I probably should have seen them within these past years, but it seemes that whenever they were at the council, Yoda and I had a mission, or sometimes, it was just myself. But lately, my mission has been to preotect Senator Amidala, or Padme, as I call her. I just hope I'm up for the job.
