Recognized: Robin B-01
The hum of zeta beam flares with the computer announcing his arrival. The numbing sensation passes through his body immediately. He will never get used to the feeling, and he will never admit it to anyone. He walks into the Mission Room, and a gust of wind dishevel his hair. A smirk tugs at his face as he looks into the green eyes of his best friend.
"Hey Rob," Wally grins and raises his eyebrows. Dick rolls his eyes behind his sunglasses, knowing full well that the speedster can tell. The grin spreads into a smile, and Robin can see the mischief in his friend's eyes. "You have no idea how bored I am, I've been waiting for you!" Wally throws his hands up melodramatically.
Dick cackles and raises his hands as if surrendering. "KF I had things to do," He says, "you know the prank list to fix and all." He see's the speedster jumps with anticipation. He smiles knowing what Wally is thinking. He makes his way to the kitchen, Wally not too far behind. "I had to fix some of your more," Dick pauses for effect, "stupid ideas," He finishes slowly. A long whine escapes the speedster making him laugh at his friend's expense. Dick walks towards the kitchen with Kid Flash hot on his heel.
"So, what changes did you make? Can I see it? Did you add any new pranks? Can I see it? Who are the victims? Can I see it? Why won't you let me see it?"
"First off, shut up," Dick turns towards Wally. As much as he loves the idiot, he can be really annoying. Dick takes a deep breath, "Many. No. Yes. No. Everyone. No. And because you won't shut up." He enters the kitchen and exhales. A smirk pulls the right side of his lips. Yup, endearingly annoying.
Dick walks to the fridge to make himself a turkey sandwich. Skipping lunch period to work on homework in the library might not have been the wisest of ideas. A loud growl ricochets in the kitchen. Dick breathes and shakes his head. It seems he'll be making more than one sandwich.
"Sorry, guess I'm a bit hungry." Wally chuckles sounds off in his ears. Looking up from the fridge hands filled with sandwich fixings. Wally's blush dust his cheeks, his eyes focus on the counter, and his right hand scratching behind his neck. Embarrassed. Wally is embarrassed for being hungry.
"No worries man, when are you not," Dick laughs trying to calm the speedster. He begins to make three turkey sandwiches.
His body screams at him to sit down, to sleep, to relax. He can't. No, Robin doesn't take a break. He really wishes he didn't skip lunch. For Dick can't afford to show weakness, not now. Not with Batman, no Bruce, looking to replace him with this Jason Todd kid. Dick is not blind. The training sessions with Bruce is a huge giveaway. He was fine with the idea of having a brother, perhaps the mansion would not be as lonely. The thought of someone replacing him. Is Bruce trying to tell Dick something? Maybe he isn't good enough to be Batman's partner? Is he trying to find a kid more talented? Someone who shows more potential? Someone who isn't him?
"Is Kid Idiot hungry again?" A female voice says behind Wally.
Dick glances up and see Artemis in full costume glaring at said speedster. He doesn't want to get in the middle of this.
"No, it's my stomach's way of telling me you're around." Wally quickly replies.
"Are you making him something to eat?" She says to Dick. He looks at the sandwiches and then at Wally. He knows what's going on and really doesn't want to be placed in the middle.
"No, he just wants to show me something tasty." Wally grins up at him.
"Hey moron, you got two good hands," She says, "can't you make your own food."
"No, can do," Wally starts, "my mom says I'm not allowed near pointy objects. Could hurt my fragile body, you know."
"You're right," Artemis begins to walk away towards the lounge. "We don't want Flash Boy to hurt himself."
"That's Kid Flash," Wally yells at her.
Dick sighs placing the two sandwiches in front of Wally with a small frown. Ever since they broke up, the tension between them has affected the team. Dick clears his throat at the other boy across the counter top.
Wally turns and smiles down at the sandwich as Dick begins to eat his own.
"Dude, I wish she'll just get off my back sometimes."
"You guys did just end a half year relationship." Dick says looking at Wally shovel the sandwich down his throat like a duck.
"I know, but she broke up with me!"
"Dude, talk or eat," Dick says glaring at Wally, "not both!"
"I can't help it," Wally says before shoving the other half in his mouth and swallowing. "If only there is a way I could talk and eat at the same time."
"You're doing it now and it's really starting to gross me out." Dick takes a bite of his sandwich while he shakes his head. Sometimes his best friend is a total idiot.
"Hey, you stole my sandwiches!" Wally yells into the lounge
"Walls," Dick frowns at him, "you just ate them."
"Right," Wally laughs trying to sound as if he is joking.
The sense of something being off about Wally returns.
"Are you okay," Dick asks again.
"Dude, I'm fine!" Wally smiles brightly, "I just keep forgetting how wonderful your cooking is Boy Wonder."
"I made sandwiches Walls, not a four course meal."
"A well made sandwich is an art form Rob," Wally grins widely. "An art form you have clearly mastered."
"I'm not making you another sandwich."
"Can't blame me for trying." Wally leans on the counter his green eyes staring directly into his.
The temptation to check if his glasses are on, forces Dick to break eye contact. For reasons beyond him, Wally always makes him feel like he isn't hiding behind the glasses. Behind the perfect Robin persona. Dick runs his hand threw his hair. The edge of his fingertips grazing the temple of the glasses. He exhales quietly in relief.
"You look tired man, how about you take a break and spend the night here," Wally speaks softly, smiling at Dick.
Dick slowly takes a bite of his sandwich and chews. Of course, Wally notices he is tired. Exhausted more like it. The idea of spending the rest of the day with some of his favorite things brings a small smile to his lips and mischief in his eyes. Video games, junk food, and Wally. Seems like a night he can really go for right now, and from the vibes Dick is getting from Wally, he isn't the only one who wants it.
"I'll call Batman and tell him."
"Sweet!" Wally jumps out of his seat and runs off.
Dick is gently pushed by the wind and hold onto his glasses just in case they moved. He really needs a guys night in. Even if it leaves Dick screaming at Wally while the he plays Dead Space or Grand Theft Auto. Or a Super Mario Kart rematch. Dick's only let the speedster win three games. He crackles to himself, most of the time he doesn't even need to hack the game to beat the speedster. Wally will never be the wiser.
"Did you call him?" Wally says sitting in the seat in front of Dick.
"Dude you were gone for less than two minutes." Dick shakes his head, "so no, I did not call him yet."
"Come on," Wally whines.
"Whining will get you nowhere KF."
"Whining has gotten me everywhere Rob," Wally corrects him with a smug look.
Opening his mouth for a retort, Dick is denied the pleasure of upping his best friend.
"Mission room in five minutes," A dark voice bellows through the cave.
There goes a night full of gaming, banter, and junk food. Dick stands grabbing the plates only to have them disappear from his hands. Before he turns towards the sound of the running water, Wally is standing before him looking proud. Dick rolls his eyes and walks pass him.
"Race you there!"
"You are talking to the 'Fastest Boy on The Face of Anything' here," Wally puts his nose in the air, closing his eyes, and crosses his arms over his chest.
"Then you should have no problem beating me."
"You are so on!"
"Okay, on the count of three," He begins getting ready to run for his life, "One. Two." He falls into a crouch and swing his right leg under Wally's, throwing the speedster to the floor and into an air of confusion. Dick stands up and takes off before Wally has a chance to register what has just happened. "Three!"
Laughter booms off the walls of Mount Justice, as he runs into the Mission Room. The rest of the team is already waiting. He stands beside Kaldur and smiles at the older teen. A blast of air touches his face.
"You cheater," Wally announces, hands already on his hips and a glare on his brow. Dick pouts innocently at Wally; Kid Flash is weak against his puppy dog looks. He is unsure why they work so well with his friend, but who is he to complain about it. An exasperated huff comes from Wally, "don't even think about looking at me like that."
"Team," Batman's deep voice acknowledges them.
Dick puts his hands behind his back and prepares for the task at hand while the thoughts of pillows and warm a blanket vanishes from his mind.
The hum of the Bio-Ship is all Dick hears. No. Not Dick. Robin. He's Robin now. The mission is an easy covert mission. Like countless others, he does not care to remember all of them; they just have to investigate a drug ring for the league. If they are lucky enough, this time they will be able to get a sample of the drug. The last time the team went to investigate a drug ring, it was a disaster. Heavy on the dis. They were out numbered, out gunned, and outmaneuvered by a bunch of morons. He steals a glance at KF, silently hoping he does not alert these guys to their presence, again.
KF has been off his game lately, and as much as Robin –Dick— wants to know why, he keeps his distance. He is Kid Flash's best friend. Wally will come to him when he is ready. In the meantime, Robin will just be doing what he is good at, watching and analyzing his friend. For someone who wears his emotions on his sleeve, Wally is really good at keeping things to himself.
Dick looks out the window of the Bio-Ship and is greeted with a view of snow as the teens fly over the country towards Blue Valley, Nebraska. The sky is painted with oranges, purples, and pinks while clouds litter the sky. Dick turns and looks at Wally once again, quietly thankful that the others don't know this is Wally's hometown. He hears a shuffle from beside him. He glances from his best friend to Kaldur who is now standing.
"Miss Martian, land behind a building a few blocks away from our destination."
"Yes Kaldur," M'gann replies at the helm of the Bio-Ship.
"We all know the plan?" Kaldur looks over everyone, meeting Robin's eyes briefly.
"Yea, Yea Kaldur," Artemis lazily strings her bow. Her legs resting on the console, "This is not our first rodeo." Robin looks smiles lightly at Kaldur's good nature eye roll. Most will not ever notice the Atlanlean's little signs, but Robin is Robin. How can he not notice?
"Right," Kaldur says, "for recap— "
"Kid Flash," Artemis announces with annoyance, knowing full well the speedster hardly pays attention during briefings.
"We are to infiltrate the structure and achieve a sample of the drug," Kaldur finishes.
"Sounds easy enough," KF says glancing at Kaldur with a grin,
"We will be on guard either way, Kid Flash." Kaldur looks at KF sternly
"Yeah Baywatch," Artemis glares at her bow an arrow, "we don't want a repeat of the last mission."
The ship is silent. Robin looks at Wally. He is staring out the window and towards his hometown. Robin can't help, but wonder what's going through the older boy's mind. His face is blank of all emotion, which is becoming an uncomfortable occurrence even if it only last a few seconds. An easy smirk appears on Wally's face, but Robin still feels uneasiness.
The ship lands smoothly and the team begins to exit. Robin notices the common hold of his mind opening and a link connecting. He smiles at Miss M, and she readily returns it. Her hair shorter than it was a couple of years ago giving her more a mature look.
"Be prepared for anything my friends," Kaldur announces.
"I am always prepared," KF says with confidence he didn't have on the ship.
Superboy grunts in the mind-link. Robin finds himself holding a crackle. Even in the mind-link Superboy grunts as responses. Robin smiles at the clone and receives a nod.
"Let us not linger much longer," Kaldur walks towards the hideout.
"Does anyone have an idea where the warehouse is?" Artemis asks.
"Why is it always a warehouse?" Dick asks, grappling up a three story building, one of the few three storey building in sight. "Can criminals be anymore cliché?"
Looking back to where his team once stood, he realizes they too have gone. A smile creeps onto his face, and he sprints towards the warehouse. Luckily it was not too far and stops when he sees it two blocks from him. Why the bad guys always have meetings at warehouses? It's not original. The cliché of it is boring. He is trying to stay whelmed with all this, but it's hard not to be underwhelmed. He silently makes his way over the next building keeping low.
"Found it, four blocks east of the landing zone." He informs his teammates.
"Robin," Kaldur says, "are you there?"
"Just got here. I don't see anything suspicious," Robin says.
He looks around his surroundings. Down in the alley below him he sees nothing. Well, nothing suspicious. Just junk. A hobo sleeping, a box rip apart and set around him like a fort. Jumping over the alley and on to the next building he settles in on the side overlooking the warehouse. Looking at the grounds of the warehouse something catches his eye. A guard. No. Guards. Well they have to be guarding something. They don't look too bright. They continue walking the same pace and what looks to be the same path as if they were AIs in a video game. A smile plays on his lips.
"There are guards."
"How many?" Kaldur asks.
"I can see four, but I'm sure there are more."
"I can run past them before they even see me," Wally says. "Let me clear the way for you guys."
"No, Kid Idiot, with your luck you'll set off an alarm," Artemis says bitterly, "We don't need you to be screwing this one up."
"I'm not going to set an alarm off—"
"Enough," Kaldur says, "Kid Flash, you will not go on by yourself. Robin can you see if they have any kind of alarm and disable it?"
"Who do you think you're talking to?"
"Good. The rest of us will wait in the shadows for your signal."
Robin opens his holographic computer on his wrist and sets off to work. The encryption was primary. It's just too easy. He can hack this with his eyes closed. Not that he is going to. His face appears on his holographic computer and turns green.
"Done."
"The guards." Superboy says
"I noticed it too, they are walking in a pattern." Miss M says.
It's as if like they can read other's mind. Well, outside of the mind-link. He moves his position onto the fire escape. Watching the guards walk back to their previous post feels like a lost opportunity for Robin. He looks down towards the team from his hiding spot. The cold metal of the fire escape makes his hands sweat. He leans forward a little. Out of the corner of his eye he sees Kid Flash jerk rapidly. He looks down at his best friend. KF's face contorts in controlled pain. A face he can only pull off if the pain is reoccurring.
Robin finds himself frowning. Why is Wally in pain? Is he hurt? Why did he not tell anyone if he is?
Wally's body begins to shake uncontrollably. His face loses the control it once had. His face scrunches up in discomfort. Robin begins to feel his heart pound a tad too quick. He watches as his friend begins to fall. Everything begins to happen in slow motion, and for a split-second understands KF's power. He hears a long cry from his speedster. Wally falls to his knee and all at once, times begin to move normally. Too fast for Robin to react. Wally lands on his back and out of cover. Panic strikes Robin in the gut.
"Hey," one of the guards says, "what we got here?" A smile spreads on the man's features.
Robin reacts. He pulls out two gas pellets and throws them towards the guard creating a smoke screen. Robin knows by doing this he is surrendering their position, but what good is completing their mission if he sacrifices Wally. No, he can't put the mission before his best friend.
"Superboy!" Robin yells in the mind-link. Superboy does not reply back nor does Robin elaborate.
He jumps down from his perch into the snow and without saying a word to his teammates, runs into the smoke before the wind sweeps it away. The movement of Superboy in the smoke clarifies that the guy knows what Robin commanded.
"Robin, Superboy," Kaldur's voice enters his mind.
Robin punches the guard in the jaw. The guard stumbles a few steps.
"M'gann, Artemis, and I are moving ahead."
Robin runs round the guard as the wind picks up and blows the smoke away.
"Once you have secured the perimeter meet us. Superboy, take Kid Flash to the Bio-Ship."
He grabs his taser shoving it in the man's side. The guard shakes from the electricity flowing through his body then falls to the ground.
"Got it," Connor says.
"Coming," Robin states running to the group.
Taking out the remaining three guards, the group barges in. Without the element of surprise, they will have to act quickly. Inside the warehouse, it is quiet. Too quiet for his liking. Looking around he notices how old the warehouse is. One story building contains rows of crates and abandons pallets.
"Guess the element of surprise is still an option," Artemis says crouching and stepping slowly. She has notched an arrow and points it straight ahead.
"A light is on in the office across the dock," Miss M states gaining the other three heroes attentions.
"Kaldur," Superboy says his voice strained, "need a little help."
An ambush?
"Where are you?" Miss M asks.
The team does not receive an answer. Without notice Robin slips away, running to the exit. Superboy and KF are being ambushed. Why can't a simple mission ever be that? He grapples up to the roofs. Running as fast as he can towards the clone and speedster. He finds Superboy and one of Flash's Rouges fighting. Captain Cold? Yes, that is the name.
Robin Pulls out one of his exploding birdarangs and throws it at him. Captain Cold shoots the birdarang with his cold gun before it hits him, turning it into ice. Superboy takes the opportunity to punch Cold. He dodges the punch. Robin looks for Wally and notices him vibrating in pain on the other side away from the fight. He needs to end this, but Cold is used to fighting speedsters, two at a time.
He throws a gas pellet. Running into the fray, he kicks Captain Cold. Cold tumbles over out of the smoke. He lifts his freeze gun and shoots aimlessly into the smoke. Robin flips out of the way and out of the thinning smoke.
Superboy punches Cold in the jaw causing the Rogue to fall to the ground. Superboy kicks the cold gun from his clutches and stomps on it. The gun breaks with a crunch as pieces of it fly every which way. Moving back to Cold, Superboy roughly places his foot on the man's chest.
"What are you doing here, Cold?" Robin walks up to the two, glaring at the Rogue. "This isn't really your M.O."
"What is going on over there?" Artemis demands.
"Captain Cold. We got it under control." Robin answers curtly.
"Central is beginning to move too fast for me," a grin spreads on Cold's face. "Thought I could help slow the city down."
A gut crushing scream bursts from Wally. Robin turns and runs to his friend. The snow Wally was lying in melted, creating mud, and making KF costume wet and muddy. KF vibrates at dangerous speeds. Panic submerges Dick. He can't be Robin right now, that's not possible. His friend needs him to be Robin, but he can't. He doesn't know what to do. Reaching out to try and coax the vibrating teen to slow down, but once his hand touches Wally's shoulder he retracts it. A hiss escaping his throat as he places his now burned hand in the snow.
"Wally," Dick says softly, "can you hear me?"
The boy in front of him doesn't respond, but barely opens an emerald green eye and looks at him. The fear etched in that one eye, the pain coursing through his friend's body. Dick nods and closes his eyes taking a deep breath. He has to do this. For Wally.
"Superboy," Robin turns to find Superboy standing right behind him, frowning at Wally with desperate eyes. "Are you able to carry Kid Flash to the ship?"
"Yeah, I think so." Superboy bends down and lifts Wally.
Robin looks around and sighs. Captain Cold is gone. What was he even doing here? Colds words echo in his mind 'Central is beginnin' to move too fast for me. Thought I could help slow the city down.' What was he planning against the Flash that would drag him up to Nebraska? He can only hope the other three are able to achieve the drug sample.
"Heading to the Bio-Ship with Superboy and Kid Flash."
"Are you all okay?" M'gann's worried evident in her voice.
"Did you manage to get the sample?" Robin ignores the Martian. He really does not know the answer.
"Yea, we got it, and some pretty interesting evidence if you ask me," Artemis replies. "This is surprising, considering how this mission started. Thought we would be walkin' away—"
"Are you headed back?" He cuts her off. He is too worried right now to listen.
"We should be there soon, I will send M'gann ahead." Kaldur says.
Robin, Superboy, and Kid Flash make it to the Bio-Ship with M'gann waiting for them.
"Wally," She rushes towards them, but stops when she sees the speedster's face.
"M'gann can you start the ship? We need to get back to Mount Justice quickly." Robin says while his eyes lay on the vibrating Wally in Conner's arms.
"Yes, "She turns and runs to the ship with Conner not far behind her.
Dick turns and waits for his friends. He needs to relay the information he got from Cold. That and being in the same room as Wally is not something he can handle at this moment. He wants to be there and help, but he is only one person. Watching his best friend struggle. He is in pain. Afraid. Dick's stomach turns. He has to be Robin right now and if he keeps thinking about Wally. He won't be able to be whom he needs to be.
"Robin."
He turns and sees the two missing teammates running toward the Bio-Ship.
"We need to move quickly." He says turning towards the ship his cape fluttering behind him.
He can hear someone talking behind him, but the words make no sense and sound muffled. Wally is in trouble. Something is wrong, and he doesn't know how to fix it. He walks into the Bio-Ship and pushing every emotion down. Ignore them. They can't help now. He stops by Wally. The speedster still vibrating wildly. His teeth clench in pain and his eyes fluttering fast.
Dick grabs the first aid kit and puts burn solution on his hand. He slowly wraps it, going through the motion he became so accustomed to. He looks at Wally. Not only is his friend suffering, he can't help. He is truly useless in this situation. How could he ever think he will be a good hero if he can't even help his best friend.
The controlled pain on Wally's face before it became too much for him to handle. This is not the first time this has happened. How many other times have Wally suffered on his own. Why would he keep this a secret, from Dick? What else is Wally not telling him?
Wally's begins to vibrate at a slower speed. His eyes stop fluttering, but his teeth still clench in pain. Why would he not tell him? They are supposed to be best friends! Why Wally would keeps something like this from him? Was he not trustworthy? Was it because Dick himself keeps things from him? Why couldn't Wally just stop being so stubborn and ask for help? Why didn't he notice it sooner? Why did he focus too much on his own problems? His selfishness can cost him his best friend's life. No. This is going to….
"Robin," heavy hands on his shoulders begin to shake him.
Dick turns to look up and sees Artemis's gray eyes. He feels something warm on his cheek. He wipes it off and looks at his hand. Tears. He's crying. No. He can't cry now. He can't show weakness. He can't. Robin quickly turns and walks away from Wally's side and sits in his seat. Breath in. Breath out. Come on Dick, get traught.
Robin looks at the window. The sun has fallen. Mount Justice is barely visible in the distance. Calming down Robin pulls out his holographic computer. The face of his mentor appears on the screen.
"Batman, Kid Flash requires immediate medical attention."
"Med-bay will be prepared upon arrival."
"ETA in five minutes," Robin turns off his holographic computer only to watch the mountain grow larger the closer they get.
It doesn't seem fast enough. They need to get there faster. Why is the Bio-Ship going slow? He wants to scream at M'gann. He wants to punch the console in front of him and rip out his hair. But he just sits there. Watching the mountain. Waiting to arrive. Trying desperately to ignore the constant hum of Wally's vibrating. Why can't anything ever go right? Why do the people around him have to suffer? He wants to yell at the idiot for keeping this to himself. To curse him for not telling him. Dick wants to go to his room, curl up in a ball, and try to block out the world. Just for a day.
"Robin."
He turns hearing his name. Kaldur is standing by the exit. When did they arrive at the mountain?
"Wally is in the med-bay," Kaldur takes hesitant steps towards him.
"Good," Robin stands and takes a deep breath. "What's his condition?"
"I am unsure," Kaldur places his hand on Robin's shoulder, "let us go and check."
Robin exhales and follows Kaldur off the Bio-Ship and towards the med-bay.
"I'm just saying if he is hurt he should have told us before the mission," Robin hears the anger archer say.
"We are not disagreeing with you Artemis," M'gann says, "All we are saying is that right now is not the time."
"Time? When will be the time? When he wakes up? When he feels better?" Artemis raises her voice, "He risks everyone's safety by keeping this from us!"
"Artemis, M'gann, enough." Kaldur steps forward, "We will bring this to Batman's attention and discuss this with Kid Flash and Flash. It will not be happening again. As of now, please get some rest my friends. Fighting is not going to help Kid Flash recover any faster."
Robin watches the other dissipate throughout the HQ. M'gann follows Supes to the gym, Kaldur walks in the direction of the lounge, and Artemis storms to the private rooms. Robin stalked behind her through the halls.
"Artemis," He calls to her.
"What Robin," She exhales, "you want to yell at me too?" She glares
"What is your problem? Can't you lay off Wally for one day?"
"He should have told us!"
"That's not the problem here, and we both know it," Robin crosses his arms over his chest lazily. "You have been giving Wally attitude since you broke up with him. What's your problem?"
"Wally is my problem," Artemis growls, "He can't trust people. I dated him for six months, and I didn't learn anything about him." She looks at her feet before looking at Robin. "I don't know his parents' names, where he grew up, where he lives, or his friends outside of the hero biz. I know nothing about him." She glares at the wall beside her, "I dated him for six months, Robin. I cared about him, I trusted him with my life. He didn't trust me," She whispers angrily. "He would avoid my question about his civilian life, deflect it with humor, or somehow get us on a completely different subject before I realized he never answered." She takes a few steps closer to Robin. Her stance screams in anger, but her eyes holding the tears threatening to fall without permission. "So forgive me if I'm bitter. If I'm being a complete bitch. I think I deserve to be." She turns around and takes a few steps before stopping, "It's funny, you know? The last person I thought I'd fall for, is the one who hurt me the most." She turns and walks into her room locking the door behind her.
Robin doesn't leave. Wally never told her anything. Never opened up to her. What does he know about Wally? He lives in Blue Valley, Nebraska. His best friend is his Aunt Iris. He rather hangout in Central City and not his hometown. His parents? Robin doesn't know anything about them, but their name. Mary and Rudy West.
Recognize: Flash-04
Robin sprints to the med-bay. That is the only place Flash will go. He'd want to check on Wally.
"Isheokay? Whathappened? IsWallyhurtbadly? Isheinpain? Willhebe-"
"Flash," Batman cuts him off, "We don't know what is wrong at this moment. We are running tests right now to find out what happened. From what Aqualad tells me, Kid Flash's pain was abrupt."
"That's not entirely true," Robin finds himself saying before he can stop himself, "I think this is recurring, and he crept up on him. He was showing signs of distress before he fell out of cover." Robin looks over towards Batman.
"His molecules are no longer vibrating at an alarming rate, but he is in pain. I suggest being there when he wakes up Flash." Batman pats Flash's shoulder before walking to the Zeta-beams. "Robin," He calls.
Robin looks at Flash and then at Batman. He walks to Flash, "Keep me updated on his status." Flash nods in understanding as Robin walks towards his mentor and guardian. Today was suppose to be a day of relaxation and fun, but this is what it turned into. He steps into the Zeta-beam and feels the rush and discomfort that comes with traveling this way.
That's what happened. Dick thought he could have a regular day, well as normal as he can get. A day of hanging out with his pal Wally. Why does Dick even think that the people closest to him will be fine? That they'll not get hurt or killed. Entering the Batcave, Batman glares at Robin.
"Not tonight Bruce, I'm just going to save you the trouble and go to my room." Dick says tearing off his mask. The spirit gum pulling at his skin. He is not feeling the aster. Not at all.
AN: Well sorry for the long wait. Life happened. School. Midterms. I did something stupid and deleted a couple of pages. Had to rewrite it. But it's out. I'm not 100% happy with this, but it's only the start of everything. The first domino to fall. Now the fun is gonna begin. I know a lot is happening here, but this is going to be a pretty decent size fanfic. I know Wally is the main character and all, but it's unrealistic if everyone else's problems took a backseat while Wally's didn't. Life is unpredictable, unfair, and everything happens all at once. That's why I am writing in Dick's POV as well. Because he cares for his best friend, but he has his own life and problems.
Anywho! Question for the Readings: Birdflash or not? I originally thought of Bromance, but I love birdflash. Just let me know what you guys think because I am conflicted on which way to go.
Oh and Roy Harper's B-day was on Nov. 1st. So HAPPY BIRTHDAY SPEEDY! (Dick's will be next Monday)
I am going to try to update the next chapter before the end of the month, but don't quote me on that.
Thank you all for reviewing. I think it's a bit funny 'cause I've read some of your guy's work as well (GingerGeek, Invader Abigail, HonestyLie, Sunny-Donna, and Sassbrat), so to have you read and review mine is really nice. Criqutics and criticisms are always welcome! I am always trying to improve my storytelling skills. If at anytime during this story anyone is OOC tell me. I try to do as much research as possible, but no one's perfect. Okay I'm rambling so I'm going to end this! THANKS AGAIN FOR READING! HOPE YOU ALL ENJOYED IT!
