I don't own SAO or FoZ as stated in the first chapter
Enough is said, let's get on with the story.
I wasn't expecting this because I have technically died so naturally, one would expect to arrive in heaven or worst-case scenario, hell. However, as I peek from between the fingers that were shielding me from the blinding light, this scenery lacks any aspects of either realm's depiction. Instead, a medieval white castle loomed over a group of students dressed in uniforms consisting of a white shirt, a variation of grey pants or skirt and a black cape with a large button with a star etched into it. The group whispers to each other as they stare at me as if I'm a new race of humanity that appeared out of nowhere. An old man that suspiciously looks like a wise sage that you would see in any fantasy adventure video games stands out from the crowd, probably because he's either a teacher or someone from a higher position like the headmaster.
First thing I touch myself to inspect my current equipment, only to groan as I intently recognise the steel breastplate. I somehow manage to 'wear' my Gun Gale Online avatar which means that people are going to question my gender heavily. Out of all the avatar, I could be, why does it have to be this one? Another thing I notice is the HUD 'floating' within my vision, so I assume that I logged into a game.
"But when did that happened?" I questioned as I racked my brain for the latest memories before logging into this bizarre world, only to receive a massive headache as if someone is trying to block that part of my mind, probably the same people to put me in this game. Waving my hand over through some menus, I checked my stats.
"Level at 95, a significant amount of health, MP is a bit lacking...this is nearly the same as my SAO stats with a mix of every game I played before," I mutter in disbelief. Whoever set me up, somehow manage to import all my stats over to this game, which is unheard of since it will be a considerable disadvantage for newcomers to the game. The whispering continuingly to get louder but I ignore it because I have yet to understand this world's language if what I hear is just meaningless chatter. I close the menus as a girl walks up to me, staring for a few seconds before the teacher said something to trigger her to begin a chant. I lazily look at her as she starts to walk closer to me and out nowhere, kissed me. I stumble back and cry out in surprise not only because of what just happened within 10 seconds but also the burning sensation in my hand. I resist the temptation to blacken out as the heat also drain a lot of my mental health. Then I hear a ping.
"Translation has been completed." A message box appeared, waiting for me to press its 'O' button which I did. I slowly stand up using my hand to give me momentum as I mush on my knee.
"Can anyone please tell me, where am I?" I ask the crowd, surprising a lot of people.
"You are standing on Tristania territory and here is the Tristania Academy of magic. Before I continue, may I ask for your name?" The old man said, breaking the awkward silence between the crowd and me.
[Jean Colbert]
Seeing the nametag without joining my party made me think this person an NPC, maybe one that starts with this game.
"My name is Kirito. I come from a place far away." I said with a powerful voice hoping that this triggers the start of the introduction to this game. There wasn't any explanation from him only the murmurs from the crowd, confused at my question. It wasn't long before the pink hair girl named [Louise de La Vallière] came up to me and grabbed my shirt, pulling it as an indicator to follow her. I follow closely behind, close enough to hear her muttering something about having a commoner as a familiar.
...
I arrived in what I assumed as Louise's bedroom. Judging from the design, I can tell that Louise belongs to a wealthy family as the room scream luxury for someone living in the medieval times, even if it contains only the essential need for a girl's room.
"So why am I here?" I question, making out the situation I'm currently in now.
Louise sighs as if it's the most obvious thing to her before she answers, "I summoned you of course when I perform my summoning ritual. You're my familiar".
"So that's my relation to this character now." I thought, waiting for more dialogue to unfold.
Louise starts to strip.
"What are you doing?" I shriek, flustered in embarrassment at her actions, I wonder how useful this girl is until I remembered that everyone is going to mistake my identity. However, to show this in a game could spell trouble for the developers unless this is those games.
"I'm undressing so I can go to bed." She said as if it's the most obvious thing a girl like her should do. "Oh, I want you to wash those for me," said Louise as she climbs into the bed, "if you work properly and don't make any trouble, I'll be sure to feed you, every day." Then she goes to sleep.
What? Can't this girl take care of herself? I can't talk because of Sugu, my sister, take care of most of the household chores, but with the lack of equipment in this time era, I doubt I could remotely do any of the set tasks. So, the search quest for anyone to do the chore begins...after I secure my meal.
Ignoring the washing, I proceed to hunt for some food maybe outside or inside the school. Quietly I sneaked away, away from the door and began my exploration around the academy. Using a combination of my hiding skills and searching skills, manoeuvring towards the entrance and outside the school, while checking out the academy as I go along. During this time, I noticed some changes like how my searching skill allow footprints to be visibly shown and leads to the corresponding owner's coloured "aura" while the hiding skill, strengthens my hearing if I stop breathing with the only downside of a louder breathing afterwards.
Once outside, I test out the surrounding area, gaining information about this game and my new upgrade to my ability while trying to recreate my dual skills, adapting to the lightly weighted light-sword. The purple light flicker in the darkness of the night but no one know or take any notice of it.
…
An explosion rang out in the academy's courtyard, but no one bats an eye at the sound of a blast became an everyday occurrence to the students. However, for me who only receive a few hours of sleep, this annoyed me much as the sound continues to ring in my ear. Not only do I have to wake up with the sudden explosion to my face, but I could also already hear the complaints coming from Louise even before she opens her mouth. Lazily, I look around to see other students with their familiars. Now back to Louise, if the explosion didn't express her anger "beautifully," the aura that is seeping from Louise will.
Funny I can almost see the same aura from Asuna when she is angry.
Louise starts to shout at me, but my head is still in a state that's half asleep and half thinking about something unrelated to Louise's complaints. In this case, I went through what I learned about my situation from last night's training/exploring. I've woken up in what appeared to be a virtual world using the HUD as a confirmation. However, after swinging my sword at nature, it becomes apparent that this 'game' is too realistic even for that thing I was testing. Interacting with Louise last night contradicts my initial thought, placing me in an uncomfortable position, questioning whether this is a game or not.
"Expected of Louise the zero, letting her familiar disobey her orders unlike my salamander, Flame." A voice came from behind me, prompting me to turn around to meet a tall, deeply tanned girl with red hair and breast bigger than my sister.
[Kirche Augusta Frederica Von Anhalt Zerbst]
"Why don't you just shut up?" shouts Louise. Kirche walks up to her and continues to tease her.
"You know, I think you just grab a commoner that was nearby and pretended to summon her. You covered that lie well with that explosion." She said with an amused face, while Louise denies this instantly. "Well, it's a perfect familiar for Louise the Zero!" She calls out before making her exit, laughing.
"What is her major mouth function" Louise shouts, still angry at the ordeal and order me to find someone to make tea for her. What's with that attitude? With that, I just ignored her orders and instead, decided to walk around, watching the scenery of other students taking care of their familiars.
"Ah!" Not long afterwards, I accidentally bump into a maid. I can see the cake that she was carrying, fall as I instantly scoop it up before it gets sullied on the ground.
"Sorry about that," I apologised, placing the cake back onto the tray.
[Siesta]
"That's ok, really it's fine," she said. She looks like one of the maids you would see in the maid café in Japan, wearing the French maid cosplay but with a longer skirt. "Would you happen to be the one that was summoned by Miss Vallière and became her familiar?"
"Oh, so there's a lot of talk about me." I thought, surprised to hear about my sudden popularity.
"Hey, are you going to bring me my cake?" A blond, wealthy playboy rudely called, breaking my thoughts.
[Guiche de Gramont]
"Oh, so you were the one who was flirting with the girl named Katie last night." I blurted out, not knowing what has come over me that I suddenly rat out some stranger.
Guiche stands up in surprise, "HOW DID YOU KNOW?!" The girl next to him with the name [Montmorency Margarita la Fère de Montmorency] hits him.
"Guiche what is the meaning of this?"
Guiche looks worried and tries to cover it up. "I don't know what are you talking about commoner. You are going to cause a needless misunderstanding with Montmorency." That's when the crowd noticed the argument and started to circle us.
"I think Guiche is picking a fight with the commoner" whisper someone in the crowd.
"What do you mean by misunderstanding? You were the one who was two-timing them". I taunted him, figuring it's useless to back out from this one. I set the bait, and it triggered Montmorency anger, proceeding to slap Guiche and calls him a big liar. Everyone laughs at his humiliation as Guiche stands up in anger.
"It seems that you don't appear to pay the proper respect to nobility." He shouts.
Nobility? Him? I tilt my head, taunting him even more. Either way, I care less about this world's hierarchy.
"Even if you are a girl, I challenge you to a duel" he announces, standing up and continue with a smug face. "Yes, I hereby challenge you to a duel. You were nothing but a commoner and a mere familiar to boot. Yet you have mocked me, and you made two noble ladies cry."
"Hey, you were the one who made them cry." I rebuked instantly, feeling irritated by Guiche's words, but only a bit.
"Go prepare yourself, I await for you at the Vestri square" Guiche exclaim, ignoring my rebuttal and begins to walk away. The crowd shortly broke off, ready to make their way to Vestri square, only a pink haired girl came up and grabbed me on the cuff.
"What do you think you are doing" She shouts, dragging me to the square.
"What's wrong," I ask, going along with her since I have no way to know where the square is.
"What's wrong? Why are you promising to fight a duel without my permission?"
Is anything wrong with that? I question, but I do agree I was rash with that decision if I was an average person. However, with my status, I could take on any students here without breaking a sweat.
"We're going to apologise to Guiche, right now he might be willing to forgive you."
Hey, that's going to hurt my pride a bit if I back out of this. "It'll be not nice to decline a duel, especially if a man's pride is at stake," I said with a fake smile, flicking her hand away.
"You don't understand anything, do you? Commoner never wins against the nobility. You will be lucky if you get away with a few minor wounds". She shouts.
"You won't know unless you try," I said patting her head, laughing off as I could hear her complaints from afar, but this time I sense some uncertainty in her voice.
I arrive there, confronting Guiche as he poses with a smirk on his face as if he had already won the fight.
"First of all, I like to commend you for coming here instead of running away! Let the duel commence." He shouts, flicking six petals. Each of those seven petals transformed into a [Valkyrie] golem, waiting for their next order. He commands all seven of them to charge at me, all of them ready to stab my body with their lances. I look at the golems' level, and it's deficient, expected from a student who has summoned something low level as a golem no matter how beautiful it looks. However, I should test its strength, so I can judge the power of someone in proportion to him, so...
I just stood there, making the smallest movement so I won't die from something like getting stabbed in the heart. I could see everyone's stunned face as I move, receiving strike after strike only to restore the damage the next second.
"How is even possible?" Guiche yell at Kirito
"749 damage within ten seconds, give or take, this is about the total damage the seven Valkyrie can inflict on me. I'm LV 96, I've got 18500 health point, my battle healing skill auto regenerate 944hp every 10sec. In layman's term, I can restore my health faster than the damage the Valkyrie can inflict on me." I gave a grand speech, like the time I went against the orange-guild members.
"What do you mean you can regenerate 944 HP every 10 sec? Are you saying you are immortal from your regeneration speed?" cried Guiche
"No, I'm not an immortal, you're just weak," I respond.
"Impossible! You are only just a commoner!"
"Want to bet. Cast any spell you like." I taunted, hearing Guiche's desperate chant to get back at me with a decent spell instead of his summoned monsters doing his dead.
"Earth, robust mother, answer my wishes and become a moving wall!"
An earth wall appears from the ground and starts moving like a wave towards me. "Not bad, but with this wall's width..." I said, stepping back into a stance. I chuckle at how this wall is more practical to practice splitting magic in half compared to Alfhime's magic since it's slower than a fireball or a bullet.
Vooom
I bring my sword down, splitting the earth wall like the red sea and, with the help of the invisible hand once again, activated [Deadly Sins]. Sadly, because of Guiche's arrogance, there wasn't a lot of spacing between the Valkyries, and they were ridiculously weak, I could execute the seven-hit combo, taking down each of the Valkyrie even if the skill was intended for a single target. I walk towards Guiche, taking notes on everyone's amazement as Guiche shake from fear. Confirming my victory, I reached for my gun, whipping it out and pointed it towards Guiche's head as his leg gave out.
"I give up" He calls. Approved of his forfeit, I smile and place my gun back into the holster then walked away with a smile.
?
"Hey, Onii-can he's not half bad desu ne." The first said looking over at her brother.
"What ya doing deska?" She said, looking at her brother as he types something on his computer.
"I'm thinking about what should I write in the quest information." He said, staring at the screen. The sister looks at the screen, filled with long but straightforward codes.
"Eeh this quest isn't Kawai enough desu." She said stealing the laptop from him, only to get pinned down the next second.
"This message doesn't need to be cute. It just needs to be simple." He said, retrieving the laptop back.
"Or else he may not be motivated and cause a problem with the timeline."
Looking back
"I open my eyes, and the light blinds me…" Cool ellipse bro, maybe do something to go with it?
I've combined the first two short paragraph together plus new thought process. Looking at the beginning paragraph, there's a lot of "I" at the start. 5 paragraph in, I used a listing…hey, another ellipse, I should really stop doing that. Anyway, that was pretty stupid of me to do that so moving on. I have no idea why the sentences are short, so a lot of them are elongated. [] symbols are added to skill names and people's names. Other things I should scold my past self is how my paragraph is structured so that the conversations are in a single line paragraph, instead of combining them with the action. There's a lot of single-sentence paragraphs, enough to cringe at my own writing, maybe because it gives an illusion that the chapter is a long chapter. Most short conversations are cut off and replaced with actions, please review if this not how I should lay out my writing. Battling phase made Kirito into a jerk, so I added his thoughts into this to show why he wants to stay still. A bit more action is added instead of full-on dialogue, and at the end, more messages from someone, as a foreshadow on what's about to come (especially for those who have seen the FOZ anime).
