Chapter 2

I was killed about two weeks ago. I was walking down the streets, heading home from the lot after having a smoke with Johnny, the sky was painted an inky blue and the stars were shining real bright. I was about five minutes away from home when I heard people behind me, and they were running. I took a quick look over my shoulder, I could barely see them but I could tell that they were coming straight for me. I started bolting down the streets, I heard one of them yell but couldn't make it out. I could see the lights from the windows, if I looked hard enough I could see Darry peering out.

I could hear the guys behind me getting closer, and then heard a bullet wiz by my head; I stumbled and knew that was a mistake. I pushed even harder feeling the wind slap my face, another gunshot cried out, I turned a corner, and I didn't want these guys near my house. Besides I had to lose them somehow, I found myself running close to Dally's house. I made a quick turn down an alley, rolling my eyes by my decision. They were still close behind me, but they didn't waste any more bullets trying to hit my back. By the time I got out of the alley I was starting to run out of breath but I knew I couldn't stop, I hopped over a couple rocks but stumbled over the last one.

I crashed down onto the pavement, and rolled jumping back up onto my feet, but my then they had caught up with me. One grabbed my shirt trying to stop me, I heard a long tear when I tore free, but only got stopped by another. I still remember his face, its crystal clear in my mind.

He had night black hair, and just as black eyes. His eyes narrowed peering at me, he looked annoyed, his hand was gripping my arm, even if I tried getting away there was no way I could break free. His grip was like iron, his friends had circled me, and I could see the gun pressed to his hip held there by his jeans.

"You idiots! This isn't him!" his voice was like nails on a chalkboard, I shivered.

"It might be his kid brother! So what? Let's just kill him, send that little punk a message!"

I felt my blood run cold, they wanted to kill one of my brothers, and I was just one tiny obstacle. They didn't need me as leverage; they were going to get what they wanted. They were going to kill me, and not a second thought needed to be passed on. The grip tightened, and the soc smiled and nodded he shoved me into one of the other socs my back pressed to his chest.

I felt my breathing quicken, to be fully honest I was terrified; they were going to kill me. I was never going to see the gang again, or my brothers. I was staring at the black haired soc with hate; I wasn't going to let them have the satisfaction of seeing me scared. I was shaking though nothing I could do about that. He pulled the gun out of his jeans and aimed it right at my chest; I took a deep breath, my last one and then spit at him. He lips stretched into a small grin

"Lights out buddy"

Then he fired, for a second I thought he missed me, I mean I didn't feel anything. Then I tried taking another breath and felt a strong pain strike through my entire body. I could hear myself gasping for air but it felt like my lungs were being squeezed. All the heat in my body was suddenly gone and replaced with an icy chill. I was so cold, and my breathing was scratchy, just faintly I felt the socs arms slip away from mine, letting me go, but I couldn't move.

I felt the ground hit me hard, I rolled over onto my back. The stars seemed to double, and I could see my eye lids growing heavy. I wanted to call out but it was like someone had just cut off my vocal chords, I couldn't speak. With one last gasp of a breath I felt my eyes close, but I knew that they would never open again.

I'm sorry ….

My final thought sent out to my brothers, they had lost mom and dad and now they were losing me.
