A/N: Here's inside Merlin's head. But no, it won't tell you what's going on. But it may give you a hint. I realize it's short, but it actually took longer than the first chapter because I had to tweak it a bunch to keep it from giving too much away.
Wake up. Eyes, open.
Lie there. Hurt a bit?
Feet, legs, hit the floor. Yawn a bit; yes, that's fine.
Walk out the door and greet Gaius.
"G'morning, Gaius."
Eat some breakfast… That's enough. There's no need for more.
Leave the physician's chambers. Head through the castle and down the hall to Arthur's room.
Draw the curtains and get him up.
Duck that flying goblet—No, too late, don't bother. Could've gotten hurt right there. Be more careful.
Get breakfast for Arthur.
Oh, he said an insult. Reply with another…
Come on, an insult…
"You know best; you're the prat—uh, prince."
That was weak.
Follow Arthur to training.
Stay away from the wall, because yesterday nearly ended in death. Attempting suicide was stupid, very stupid, so don't do it again.
Watch Arthur train.
Hurt a bit?
That blade sure looks good, doesn't it? Getting too close to that would be a lot like trying to jump off the castle…
Oh, shut up.
Leave training.
Do the other chores Arthur gave. Polish that, clean that, wipe that, scrub that, brush that… Don't knock that over.
Get Arthur's meal.
Talk to him. Be natural.
If he asks what's wrong, say nothing.
"Nothing, really. I'm fine."
Hurry to get away.
Let him go to bed. Ask if there's anything he needs.
"Will there be anything else, Sire?"
Go.
Walk down the hall.
Greet Gwen.
"Hello, Gwen. How is everything?"
Talk to her for a minute, then say good-bye and leave.
"I'll see you tomorrow, then."
Go.
Say no to dinner.
"I'm not hungry. No, really, I'm not… Gaius… I'm not hungry, I…"
Just accept and take a few bites.
Push back the chair.
Wish him goodnight.
"I'm too exhausted to stay up any longer. Good night, Gaius."
Go into the room.
Sit on the bed.
Don't bother with that thought. Dismiss it.
Really, just forget it.
Hurt a bit?
Eyes, close.
Body, relax.
Go to sleep.
