"Follow me you two. I've got your Pokémon upstairs." Sycamore told Lucas and Sophie. The two of them followed him into an elevator. They went up to the top floor then around a wall. The professor's desk came into view and on it were two Pokéballs with a Pokédex behind each one. The Pokédex on the left was black and blue and the one on the right was red and white. Sophie started thinking about her first Pokémon battle, having Lillie and Vincent going at it and Vincent coming up as victorious. "What moves do you know?" Sophie asked the Chespin, surprising him slightly due to the sudden question.

"If your trainer's forget it, then be sure to tell them it as well as everything else that I've told the two of you." Sycamore looked out the window and saw that the sky was getting darker. "Well, you four had better get going if you want a room at the Pokémon center to sleep in."
Sophie turned to Lucas. "Will you please have a battle with me?"
Lucas looked out the window then looked over to Sycamore. Sycamore looked at his watch then nodded and said "But you'll have to make it a quick one."

"Alright, to the basement." Sycamore said to them. "I've had far too many holes put into these walls from battles in here so I had a small field set up down in the basement."
They all went to the elevator and Sycamore pressed the button for the basement. Several seconds later the doors opened and after Sycamore flipped several switches on the walls the damp smelling basement came into view. The field was slightly to the right of the door and some old lab equipment. Each of the trainers and Pokémon got onto their side of the field then waited for Sycamore to start the battle.
Sycamore pulled a red cloth from his coat. "When this rag touches the floor, the battle will begin." Then he released the rag.
