Chapter 2: To Trust or gain trust
It was 5:00 am and Leo felt someone's presences in the dojo. He got out of bed and headed straight for the dojo. Once he made it to the dojo, Leo went inside and saw Mai doing tai chi in the middle of the floor. Mai felt a presence in the dojo and asked, " Is their something you would like?" Leo asked, " how did you know I'm here?" Mai replied as she did her tai chi, " I felt your presence. Is their something you want Leo?" Leo asked, " I want answers." Mai replied, " That, you will have to wait." She finished her tai chi and said, " How about this? I'll give you answers if you have a match with me one on one. If you win I'll give you the answers you want." Leo went to the middle of the dojo and said, " you got yourself a deal." Mai replied, " good! Besides I want to see your fighting technique, but first." Mai put on a blindfold over her eyes and got into fighting stance.
Leo wondered why she's wearing a blindfold, but he wants to know answers. Once they got into their fighting positions, he was the one to attack first. Mai felt his movements and started to dodge them. Mai heard Leo coming towards her from behind and did a back flip over him and did a floor kick him under him to loose his balance, and took the opportunity to flip him over by taking his right hand and pinned him down. Mai took her blindfold off and said, " I win." Leo was dumfounded and asked, " but how?" Mai replied, " because I used my senses to feel or hear an opponent coming towards me or trying to attack me. Your Techniques are good, but your not using your senses. If your fighting your opponent in the dark you'll need your senses to help you see and feel them coming near you, or else you'll lose." Mai got off of Leo and started doing her Tai Chi again. Leo got up as Mai asked, " care to join me in Tai Chi? It helps the mind and body?" Leo said, " I don't think so, I still don't trust you." Mai said, " I get that." Leo asked, " Even though I lost, would you at least tell me one of the reasons?" Mai stopped, turn towards Leo with a serious face and replied, " There are two roads, One is for revenge and the other is for Honor. In the end, they connect as one." Leo left the Dojo thinking about what Mai told him. As he left the dojo, Mai thought about her mother and father and hoping their doing fine in heaven.
5:30 turned into 6:30 pm and April came to the sewers to train with Mai to be a Kunoichi. April and Mai would spare with each other to increase their strength. Then would give feedback to each other. Master Splinter and the turtles watch these two girls used different techniques in battle. Master Splinter said, " that's enough girls. Get ready to practice using your weapons. April and Mai bowed and went to get their weapons together. As they were grabbing their weapons Leo ask Splinter, " Sensei why do we need to watch April and her?" Raph said, " Hey! That's not cool Leo, she's part of the team!" Splinter said, " Your brother is right Leonardo, Mai is part of the team, you need to work together in order to face The Shredder." Leo said, " I know, but something feels off about her that I can't trust." Splinter thought, " Leonardo, if you would understand Mai's pain and suffering." The girls came back with their weapons. April grabbed her Tessen and so did Mai. Mai's Tessen was red with lotus flowers on them. The turtles saw how These two have the same weapon. April thought, " isn't that her mom's Tessen?" They started to practice in synch when April did a wrong move and the Tessen was about to aim at Mai. April gasped and shouted, " MAI LOOK OUT!" Mai closed her eyes, was doing a back flip in the air and caught the Tessen as she landed on the ground gracefully. Everyone except Splinter said, " Whoa…." Mai went to April and asked, " you alright Uzuki?" She nodded and asked, " Mai isn't that your mothers?" Mai looked down and replied, " Yes Uzuki, it is." Splinter knew where it was heading and said, " Training is over for today, you can rest up now." April and Mai bowed and left the dojo with the turtles following. Leo ask Splinter, " Sensei, why did you stop?" Splinter sighed and replied, " because things were getting emotional." Leo asked again, " what do you mean things were getting emotional?" Splinter was walking out of the dojo replied, " you'll know in time Leonardo." Leo was still wondering and trying to find out what's going on.
As April, Mai and the rest of the turtle were out of the dojo, April asked Mai, " are you ok Mai?" Mai replied with a fake smile, " yea I'm fine! Don't worry Uzuki!" April knew she was lying and know she will have answers from her Friend. Raph looked at Mai and thought, " she's just like me. She tough on the outside and soft on the inside." Raph followed Mai to the kitchen and asked, " hey you okay? If it's about Leo, then don't worry about it." Mai sighed and replied, " it's not about Leo, its about my Tessen." Raph was confused. Mai asked, " is that lettuce for a pet turtle?" Raph replied, " yea! I use to have a tortoise named Spike. He left but, I can always tell spike everything about how I feel. Don't tell the others I said that." Mai said, " your secret safe with me. Hey should I tell you how I feel about what happen in the dojo?" Raph replied, " sure, I'm all ears." Mai made sure no one else was their and started, "remember when April asked about my tessen?" Raph remember and nodded. Mai continued, " that Tessen belongs to my mother when she was my age. I would never give up this memento." Raph asked, " a memento?" Mai replied, " years ago, my mother was murder and my siblings and I saw him do it… and he was the same murderer who killed my father." Raph was shock and said, " whoa, I'm so sorry to hear about that." Mai sighed and said, " it's okay you didn't know, besides I'm jealous that you have a father to take care of you during the years." Raph said, " Yea I should be grateful to Splinter more. Thanks for sharing, but will you tell me who was the murderer is?" Mai replied, " thanks for listening, but that would be to painful to say his name." Raph nodded and said, " I get that." Mai said, " you know, I wish you were my brother." Raph said, " hey your part of the team now, so your part of our family." Mai felt happy that she was apart of something. Then suddenly, Donnie went into the kitchen and said, " guys come quick! We found another mutagen ooze in the city!" Mai asked, " Mutagen Ooze?" Raph answer, " the stuff we have to find before it touches anything." Mai nodded and meet up with the others. Leo asked, " everyone ready?" Donnie said, "Casey's meeting us down towards the location I gave him." Leo nodded and everyone headed out.
Inside the Shell Raiser, Leo was driving, Mikey was at Navigation, Raph was at weapons and Donnie was at Ops. Mai was on her skateboard, behind the turtles with a communicating ear device. Leo said, " This mission is too dangerous, for her to be on." On speaker Mai said, " you know I can hear you Leonardo! And I feel bad for the others." Leo ask, " why's that?" Mai replied, " cause your probably a horrible driver and might hit a squirrel or two, a garbage can or even an alley wall ." The others were trying not to laugh as Leo said, " Ha, Ha, Ha, very funny." Mai said with sarcasm, " Aw Thank you! I put a lot of effort in to that." Raph asked, " anyone glad to have Mai on our team?" Mikey and Donnie said, " yea!" Mai said, " thanks guys! At least SOME PEOPLE appreciates me being here." Leo said, " what's that suppose to mean?" Mai replied, " you have a problem with me and I didn't do anything wrong towards you." Leo scoff and said, " were here and theirs Casey." All the turtles got out of the Shell Raiser and Mai went towards the turtles and a guys her ages have his face painted. Casey said, " hey dudes and girl I've never met before." Raph said, " Casey this is Mai, Mai this is Casey." Casey reached out a hand and said, " nice to have another member on the Team." Mai grabbed his hand as she said, " glad to be here!" Casey asked, " how come Leo didn't introduce Mai to me?" Mai says, " cause he's an inconsiderate, unappreciable, stubborn, over the top non trusting turtle who is also acting like a jerk!" Leo and Mai glared at each other. Casey said, " anyone notice lighting sparking a feud between them?" They said, " took the words right out of our mouths." Casey said, " good! Cause I have a feeling we should snap them out of it before it gets worse."
Leo yelled, " WELL SORRY IF I'M BEING SO SUSPICIOUS ABOUT YOU! MAYBE ITS ALL A LIE AND YOUR ONE OF SHREDDERS DISCPLES LURING US INTO A TRAP!" Mai yelled, " DON'T EVEN COMPARE ME TO THAT INSANE MONSTER! HOW CAN YOU BE SUSPICIOUS OF ME IF YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW ME!" Leo yelled, " THEN HOW DO YOU KNOW THE SHREDDER?!" Mai Yelled, " MAYBE MY UNCLE TOLD ME ABOUT HIM! OR EVEN HE APPROACH WHERE I WAS LIVING!" Before Leo could speak, he heard something. Leo said, " did you heard something?" Mai and rest of the gang had a question look on their faces. Mai closed her eyes and listen to a sound and said, " yea sounded like sizzling coming from over there." Everyone started going towards the harbor and saw the mutagen Ooze case broke and saw a fire looking human type of mutation. Donnie said, " oh no". Casey said, " well lets fight this thing!" Raph said, " Don't start with out me!" Leo shouted, " CASEY, RAPH WAIT!" Raph and Casey were trying to battle the mutant, but in the end they couldn't touch it. They would just get burned. Leo said, " we can't touch him! How can we Battle him?!" Mai said, " dodge his attacks so he wont touch you!" The Fire mutant was attacking them, and the gang tried not to got burned. Mikey asked, " dude! We've got to stop Torch before he burns the city!" Ralph asked furiously while he dodged the attacks, " TORCH!?" Mikey replied, " yea! Cause he's covered in fire.." Leo, Casey, Donnie and Raph shouted, " WE GOT IT MIKEY!" Mai said, " I like it! It suits him well!" Mikey was happy that someone actually likes the names he gives the mutants. Leo asked, " how can we defeat this mutant?" Mai saw a sneak attack coming towards Leo. Mai runs towards Leo, and pushed him out of the way. They both fell to the ground as fire created a dent in the metal bars. Leo asked, " Why did you save me?" Mai replied with a small smile, " cause were a team, and a teammates help each other out." Leo saw another fireball coming and said, " heads up." The two of them both moved out the way of the fireball. Mai said, " thanks for the heads up!" Leo replied, " Anytime!" Donatello looked at the harbor over and thought, " that's it!" He said, " guys! If we can get torch into the harbor, Me might disintegrate." Mikey, Raph and casey asked, " how are we going to do that?!" Leo and Mai Looked at each other and smirked at each other. Leo said, " you're thinking what I'm thinking?" Mai asked, " Can you trust me?" Leo nodded and said, " on my count." Mai threw her Tessen at torch and he was coming towards them. Leo and Mai put on blindfolds and leo said, " NOW!" Torch was towards them and was about to hit them with a fireball. Leo and Mai heard the fireball rushing in, so they both did a front flip in the air and landed on the ground. Torch was getting angry, and started throwing fire balls rapidly. Leo and Mai were in sync with their moves which led torch to the harbor. They took off their blindfolds and saw torch running towards them. They both leaped over torch, leaving him to fall into the Harbor where he started to disintegrate. The turtles and Casey went up to Leo and Mai and said, " YOU GUYS DID IT!" Leo said, " well Mai taught me to always use my senses." Mai smiled and said, " we could've done it without Leo's plan." The two of them looked at each others eyes happily until Donnie said, " lets head back to the lair. Casey you coming?" Casey replied, " you bet I am!" Leo asked Mai, " want to ride the shell raiser with us?" Mai said, " I would be glad to Leo." Mai said, "leo." Mai kissed his cheeck and said "thank you." Leo blushed and headed back to the shell raiser.
