Tomo's Desires: Act 2 spring has sprung!

I do not own Azumanga Daioh. It's owned by Kiyohiko Azuma.
It was very early in the morning, and Tomo was looking forward to this. This was the end of the school year...it was March. It almost was the time to switch over to their summer uniforms. Tomo was at table with her family eating breakfast, and it was two days after the date with Yomi. She was very happy about hanging out with her. She was going to do something to make it up, for how badly it turned out. Her family heard the details, and they were wide-eyed with what happened. Her brother he looked over to Tomo, and he spoke up. He didn't believe the tea house story at all.
"Wait...so some brat tripped over the waitress, who spilled on some random guy?" her brother asked.
"That's exactly right," Tomo answered straight off.
"I'd believe her...that's something that happened," her mother said.
"Okay...and you got a gift certificate because of the jerk?" her father asked.
"That's correct," Tomo answered honestly. "They had to give that one as well...I don't know if they paid for his cleaning bills."
"I would think so," Mrs. Takino said straight off.
"Have you thought about what you're going to do this break?" Tomo's brother asked.
"Other than homework...I might ask Yomi for a day trip to town," Tomo answered. "I do hope things go better from there."
"That's not a bad idea," her father said happily.
"You should hurry, before you're late to school!" her mother admonished.
"Okay! I'm off!" Tomo said as she grabbed her bag, and went to put her shoes on.
"Try not to get punished by Yukari again," Her father admonished again.
"I'll try," Tomo said.
She had her shoes on, and she was out of the door. Today was the day the school year ended...but that meant a couple of weeks worth of homework. That also meant that she and Yomi would at least spend a lot more time together. Tomo really was taking her studies seriously, and she also was studying for the college entrance exams. She was plotting to see what to at least do this Saturday since Yomi would probably short circuit at some point. Tomo knew it was only human for people to do that. However, that wasn't the main agenda. The main agenda was to catch up with everybody on the way to school. She ran into Yomi who just was turning the corner. She was able to get there quite early.
"Good morning, Yomi!" Tomo greeted.
"Hey...morning..." Yomi answered listlessly.
"What the hell happened last night?" Tomo asked.
"I pulled an Osaka...I stayed up late..." Yomi admitted.
"You were up listening to the radio were you?"
"Yup...that's what happened," Yomi yawned.
"We better get you a tea or something," Tomo warned. "If you fall asleep...the wicked Yukari of the east will get you!"
"I got it," Yomi said. "Don't be so flamboyantly over the top."
'She's short circuiting,' Tomo thought.
"It's the end of the school year at least," Yomi said.
"True, but we still have homework," Tomo hissed.
"You've been doing well on your homework."
"I know...it never ends," Tomo said.
"Americans got those teachers who'll assign work during the holidays," Yomi reasoned.
"True..." Tomo said, "at least they have a longer summer, and don't have to worry about homework then."
Yomi nodded, as Tomo ranted about having to do homework during break. She wanted to spend a lot of time with Yomi. After she was done, she was reassured by Mizuhara that she'll be spending time with her. Tomo was very much relieved. They caught up with the rest. Chiyo, Osaka, and Kagura were talking about a radio show they heard last night. They all came and saw Yomi and were taken back from her disheveled appearance. This was not something that was in Yomi's character. Kagura spoke up as she was the first to notice.
"Yomi, did you get enough rest last night?" Kagura asked.
"More importantly," Osaka stated, "did you oversleep this morning?"
"I did," Yomi said, "that's why I'm in such a state."
"I'm surprised you were able to get here this early," Kagura said.
"I know...I barely had time to shower, get dressed, and get breakfast," Yomi admitted.
"That's not good..." Chiyo said very concerned.
"I'll be okay," Yomi yawned.
The group realized that Yomi was not best off. They did get to school on time, however...even Yukari was just as rough as Yomi. She stayed up a little too late gaming it up on her PS2. She wasn't interested in night radio, but she did the same thing Yomi had done. However, once class started, Yukari just went through the motions of what was to be done during the class. Lunchtime came and everybody was at their desks. They decided to make a square to talk about what was going on. Tomo still was concerned about how Yomi was doing. After all, Yomi ordinarily has everything together. The day dragged on until home room. Yukari she just gave up all pretense as to what was going on. She yawned, and took up the entire class on a diatribe on how Final Fantasy X was too long of a game. After that, she huffed and spoke up.
"Okay I'm gong to be honest...I haven't assigned anything today," she said bluntly.
'She's lost it,' the class collectively thought.
"Instead...I do not want to hear one peep out of anybody here," she warned.
The class took it seriously. The back half of the class was uncomfortably quiet. Osaka used a lot of effort to keep awake. She didn't want to earn Yukari's wrath (again) for falling asleep in her class. Tomo had a straight-off scowl on her face when she remembered how much homework they'd be getting. She knew there would be no way in hell she'd been able to go out with Yomi for the next couple of weeks. She did have to improvise. Once the bell chimed, Yukari dragged herself out of the classroom. Yomi then yawned and spoke up. She was grateful that Lunch was almost coming up at the next bell...she needed something to wake her up.
"Hey, how are you holding up?" Tomo asked.
"As best as I can," Yomi answered.
"Yukari really lost it today." Kagura said.
"I don't know what her rant had to do with English..." Osaka added (being brutally honest)
"It doesn't really matter," Yomi said, "the day is almost done."
"True, but our homework hell will begin," Tomo returned.
"So that's why you had the deepest scowl on your face," Kagura interrupted.
"It was that obvious?" Tomo asked.
"Yeah...your back tensed up...you were ready to walk out of class," Kagura answered.
The girls continued to talk about how things were going. Tomo was internally pissed that things weren't going exactly as she wanted. She brushed it off as a minor annoyance. Once the day came to the end, Tomo knew there would be no time for a date. However, she still wanted to hang out with her friends. Chiyo made the suggestion that they all get together at her house to study. In fact, that was exactly what she needed to happen. She called her mom to ask her if it was okay. She was quite okay with it. The others did call their parents to let them know what was going on. Chiyo called ahead to let them know exactly what was going on. They made their way to Chiyo's house, and made their way to Chiyo's room and got to work studying.
"Hey...you look like you need to go freshen up," Kagura said, noticing Yomi was now worse for wear.
"I do," Yomi said quietly.
"Are you okay?" Tomo asked concerned.
"Yeah, a little bit," Yomi answered.
"Chiyo should be up with something to give you a jolt," Tomo replied.
"I'm going to go freshen up," Yomi said.
"Okay don't be long!" Osaka said.
Yomi made her way to the bathroom to freshen up. She looked in the mirror, scowled, and mentally cursed. She then smiled at herself. She realized that she couldn't let this linger on for much longer. She used a paper towel to wipe her face, and to replace her glasses. After she came out, she was met by Chiyo. She decided to help her out, because things were going to get too heavy for her. After a couple of more minutes, they arrived back to the group with the snacks. Tomo looked up and smiled when Yomi helped Chiyo set everything down.
"You're looking a lot better Yomi," Tomo said.
"Thank you," Yomi said. "I am sorry for worrying everybody."
"It's okay, though hopefully you can get a better night's sleep," Tomo smiled.
"Oh you just want me in your bedroom," Yomi joked.
"Don't tempt fate," Tomo smiled. "It might just happen again."
'Damn it! Why are they doing that?!' Kagura thought.
"Oh it's no different than last Christmas," Osaka said off-handed, as if she read Kagura's mind.
"Hey that's not a problem," Chiyo said. "They're dating now."
"That's right," Sakaki added in quietly.
The girls then started to have their snacks, and to start studying and doing their homework. Yomi had noticed that Tomo was leafing through a magazine. She did put it away to continue studying. It was a while, however...after the day's homework was finished, everybody helped to clean up. Nobody could stay over, since they all had other things to do within the next few days. After, Tomo went back home and she smiled happily. She knew she'd been able to hang out with Yomi, just not in the way she'd like to. However, she knew her chance would come up soon...possibly after the start of the new school year. However...she scowled and saw her hair in a glass reflection of the convenience store.
"I'm cutting this," Tomo said to herself.
She made her way back home, and went to her bedroom. She did have to remind herself to make an appointment to the salon. She knew exactly what was going to do. She also was still making plans on how to break the monotony...and to prevent Yomi from having a bad night like that ever again. Either way, she sighed. She knew full well this was going to be one interesting year. That is...the new school year will be coming quite quickly in a couple of weeks. She wanted to be ready for it.
