Chapter 1: Home Again
20 Years Later ( Los Angeles, California, May 2014)
19 year old Lena Toretto sat in her home in Echo Park in LA. She was currently nursing almost a 110 stitches and a broken ankle that she received in a race a week and half earlier. Lena was still very annoyed with the fact that some snot nosed rich kid cheated to beat her in a race. She was a Toretto and she did not like to be beat in a race.
Currently she was sitting on the couch, her leg propped up on a pillow. Lena was watching her nephew, Jack bounce around in a baby exosauser as he watched a baby show on TV. She could not help but smile watching him coo and squeal at the figure on the screen.
Her sister was in the kitchen, making lunch for him and looked up with a smile, ever since their families adventure in London, things have began to get back to normal. Giselle and Han were getting married later next summer, Letty had gained her memories back and they were back home in Echo Park.
"He really likes that show, doesn't he?" Mia asked, walking back into room.
Lena looked up a nodded, a small grin on her face. Her nephew loved to watch Go Diego, Go.
"He does, he's starting to laugh...he makes this funny squeal when over the monkeys come on screen." Lena replied, as she began to shift around to make room for Mia on the couch. "He reminds me of you when Looney Tunes came on." Mia teased as motioned for Lena to scoot
Lena gritted her teeth in pain as she moved to let her sister sit. She had gotten several stitches on her arms legs and hips after she had flipped her car during the legal race they did in the desert. Brian, Dom and Letty had watched her flip nearly 8 times before landing on the roof of her challenger.
Mia frowned as she watched her sister struggle to move. She hated seeing Lena in pain after the accident.
"Hey, you alright?" Mia asked, helping her sister move. "No...the pills the doctor gave me aren't doing squat to stop me from hurting." Lena replied, looking up at her big sister. "I'm sorry baby girl, but just think in a few weeks the stitches will be out and you'll be able to bear weight again on you ankle."Mia said, hugging her little sister tightly.
Just then, the front door opened as Dom, Brian and Letty all walked in with smiles on their faces. They looked as if they had been up to something before they came into the house.
"Hey guys, have fun?" Mia asked looking up from her sister.
"Of course...how you feeling Bugs?" Dom asked, walking over to Lena and Mia.
Lena had made a face when he called her that. Bugs or Bugs Bunny as her family called her was a nick name they gave her when she was Jack's age. She had been completely in love with him when she was a little kid.
"Sore, uncomfortable and itchy...I never want to get stitches again." Lena replied as Dom hugged her.
By this time, Letty and Brian had walked into the room as well. Brian knew that his new little sister hated to feel stuck or unable to help herself.
"Hey, six weeks will go by fast...I swear...you'll be up walking and chasing after Jack in no time." Brian told her, walking over to sit behind Mia on the arm of the couch.
"Yeah, if I don't die of boredom before then...there is nothing for me to do...i can't get out to the garage to work on anything...as it is my baby is gonna have to go down to Florida because y'all are backed up at the shop so I have to see if Tej can work on it...plus I'm not allowed to put weight on it." Lena replied, causing Letty to smile.
"Do you guys think we should tell her?" Letty asked, picking up her nephew out of the saucer. "Yeah...other wise she is gonna have a panic attack from boredom." Brian teased, as he dodge his son's binky that Lena threw at him. "cállate!" Lena said, causing him to laugh.
"Dom?" Letty asked, smiling at the pair.
Dom nodded, moving to sit behind Lena and pull her close. He knew his little sister well enough to know that she was hurting and feeling agitated.
"Sure...she'll love it." Dom replied, causing her to sit up and look at him.
Lena looked up at Letty as she walked out of the living room and into the front hall. The grins on her family's faces told her that they were up to something. They also knew that Lena hated surprises, whether they were good or bad.
"What?" Lena replied, as the front door opened and shut after a minute. "You'll see in a minute, Bugs." Brian said, grinning at her. "If you don't shut it, O'Connor." Lena threatened.
Just then a giant teddy bear with her favorite flower appeared in the doorway. She looked up, confused on what was going on till she seen who was carrying it. A huge smile began to creep across her face.
It was Roman, Brain's childhood best friend. He and Lena had gotten close enough to be siblings since Rio. Her and Rome would pull all sorts of pranks together.
Next came, Tej, who was carrying a bunch of bright balloons and a Dior bag. Her smile widened because she had not idea what they were all doing there. Tej and Lena had also become like siblings while in Rio as well as in London.
Finally, Giselle and Han walked in together with more flowers. Giselle and Han were also family by the end of Rio and London. Giselle taught Lena how to defend herself and use several different types of weapon while they were London. Han and Lena when he was teaching her a few tricks to keep her from spinning out while learning to properly drift her 350-Z in London.
"Suprise!" Rome said, walking to the room and setting the bear down.
"Oh my gosh...what are you guys doing here...I've missed y'all." Lena exclaimed, as Rome leaned down to hug her.
Dom got up and moved to go sit with Letty and Jack on the other sofa across the room. He was glad to have his family back together.
"We heard about your accident last week...How are you feeling, baby." Tej asked, taking his turn and hugging her.
"Sore and annoyed...my car is trashed." Lena replied as he stepped away. "Not for long." Tej said, causing her to smile.
"What happened?" Han asked as he and Giselle hugged her.
"Some little prick cut me off in the middle of a turn and threw something out the window and it caused me to spin out when I hit the stupid thing...he won the race." Lena replied, causing Dom to snort.
"And he didn't get disqualified?" Roman asked, suddenly annoyed. "No...his dad is the organizer of the rally and said he won fair and square...everyone else clearly knew he cheated...the kid didn't even know how to properly do anything." Letty replied, causing Lena to snort.
"Jack could do more than him...but the short version is that I flipped 8 times and spend three days in the hospital." Lena told them.
She pulled the blanket that she had been using to cover her legs back to show them what happened.
There was a long jagged line going down her thigh that wrapped down and around to just under he knee on her left leg and another diagonal laceration on her right leg. Then she showed the other stitches on her stomach. There was 40 one on leg, 51 on the left and nine on her stomach.
"Dang, you know you have a guardian angel or something right...you should be still in that hospital." Rome said, causing Lena to nod.
"That's what Mia told her when she woke up the next morning." Dom said, causing Mia to nod.
"I was a little mad at her too...I've come close to loosing all of you guys a lot lately and I was terrified I was gonna lose my baby sister. I lost my father at that stupid rally and don't want to lose another person to that race." Mia replied.
"Like a car wreck could get rid of me that easily." Lena replied.
Meanwhile, in another place and time, a couple awoke to the sun shining brightly into their bed room. The woman opened her eyes to see her husband's dark black hair being illuminated by the sun. Her heart began to fill with relief and joy. She had her husband back.
"Vlad." She whispered, gently shaking his bare shoulder.
Her husband made a noise of protest and began to turn away from her and toward the light.
"Vlad, wake up!" She said again, this time a little louder.
This time he opened light blue-green eyes and sat up. He looked at her, slightly confused and annoyed to be woken up so early. The annoyance quickly to worry when he seen the unshed tears in her eyes.
"What is wrong, Mirena?" Vlad asked, suddenly awake. "You're in the sun." Mirena replied, the tear rolling down her cheeks, "You're in the sun and you're not burning."
The curse that he had been given was finally over and he was back to himself again. He, Vlad the Impaler, had done what everyone else had told him he could not do. The monster who gave that curse was not ever leaving his cave.
Tears began to fill his own eyes, tears of joy and thankfulness. Vlad looked up to the sky and gave a silent prayer of thanks to the Lord above for giving him the strength to beat the test.
"I love you so much... I am so sorry I did such a foolish thing like that." Vlad said, pulling his wife into his arms and holding her close.
Mirena smiled as she wrapped her arms around him, this time unafraid of being close to him.
"I forgive you...you did what you had to do to protect us...all of us." Mirena replied, causing him frown.
"I wonder if she will be able to come home now." Vlad said, causing his wife to smile softly. "I do not know...perhaps that woman will return to tell us if she will or will not." Mirena replied, as soft footsteps began to approach their room. "It sounds like our son is awake." Vlad said, causing Mirena to smile.
"Mama, Papa...are you feeling better?" Their son, Ingeras asked, as he jumped into the bed beside Vlad.
Mirena gave him a look that said that he should not tell him all of what happened. He nodded, but did answer his son's question.
"Much better, now how did you sleep my son?" Vlad asked, as the young boy moved to lay between his parents.
"Good...I had a dream about Lena...I miss her." Ingeras replied, causing his parents' hearts to clench. "So do we, my sweet...but she will come home soon." Mirena replied, causing their son to nod.
As a result of the battles, the castle had sustained to much damage to stay in so they were staying at the Cozia Monistary until it was fixed.
A short time later, the family went down to the main hall where breakfast was being served. The priests were quite relieved to see their prince was eating again and walking in the sunlight unafraid. Mirena was also happy to see her husband wearing his wedding ring again too.
Suddenly, a cloaked figure of a woman walked into the main hall, trailed by several guards and Vlad's advisor, Carzan. Vlad instantly recognized her as the woman who told him that his infant daughter was not safe there.
"My prince, we found her hanging around the outside of the castle gates...she claims its about your daughter." Carzan stated, giving him a warning look.
Mirena and Ingeras looked up with hopeful eyes. They had been praying it was about her coming home.
"Very well, we will speak privately in my study." Vlad replied, getting up from his seat. Mirena stood with him and followed.
Ingeras began to follow as well but Vlad stopped him. He knew that his son wanted to know about his sister, but he did not want Ingeras to be hurt if Lena was not coming home.
"Wait here...your mother and I will send for you in a few moments." Vlad said, kneeling before his son. "But I want to see Lena..." Ingeras replied, looking at him. "Soon." Vlad said.
Ingeras relented as he watched his parents leave the room as his governess came over and led him back to his seat to finish breakfast.
Back in the study, Mirena and Vlad listened to what the woman had to say.
"What news do you have about my daughter." Vlad asked, his green-gray eyes boring into hers.
The woman smiled as she removed her hood and smirked. It was no doubt that she was a witch and she had helped him.
"Your daughter, my Prince is well. She is nearly grown in the time that she was sent to...she is happy, but I believe that it is time for you all to meet her...she will be thrilled." The witch said, grinning at him.
Mirena felt her heart breaking. She missed the chance to see her little girl grow up and become a young woman. She looked to her husband to see the same look on his face. But she also saw the decision to go to that time to meet their daughter.
"Do you mean for us to go to that time and meet Lena?" Vlad asked, his eyes dangerously narrowing, "Or are you toying with me, woman?"
"If that is what you wish, my Prince...but we have to leave soon...someone will be waiting for you when you get there...they know your daughter quite well."The witch replied.
Mirena looked at her husband and nodded, telling him that they should go. He smiled softly at her, knowing that she already knew in her heart what the witch was saying was true.
"Very well, we will leave at noon, and you better be correct...or you live is forfeit." Vlad said.
While Carzan did not agree with him, he knew Vlad was going to be stubborn about going to see his child. He was willing to let his friend go to see her and would take care of the kingdom while away.
"Go and see to her...she deserves to know her father...Ingeras did and so should Lena." Carzan said, surprising Vlad.
"Thank you, my old friend." Vlad replied, turning to his wife.
After telling Ingeras what was going on, the three began to get ready to leave. Ingeras was so excited to see his sister again, even though she was going to older than him where she was. He was just happy to see her.
When it came time to leave, Mirena was shaking with fear and worry that her daughter would be upset to see them there. She also was worried about what her adopted family would do.
"Vlad, do you think her family will be alright with this? What if they do not know?" Mirena asked, looking up at her husband.
"Do not worry, something tells me that all will be well."Vlad replied, as he held her and their son close to him.
When they arrived at the spot where the witch was going to take them to Lena, he found her waiting impatiently. She knew that their arrival on time was going to make things easier for all.
"Hurry princeling, or you will miss your chance." The witch snapped, glaring at him. "Watch it witch!" Vlad snapped, not very happy with her insult.
"Stand there and do not move." She replied, ignoring him.
The family of three stood in the spot where the witch told them and watch as she began to draw a circle around them and chant in some unknown language. Mirena and Ingeras clung to Vlad as the ground began to shake uncontrollably. The circle began to glow and then, they were gone.
When Vlad looked up, there was a strange looking carriage near by with two men and women standing there waiting.
One of the men looked just like Vlad but with shorter hair. He wore a black leather jacket with a gray colored shirt and a pair of dark blue pants with a pair of boots. The other man was taller and more broad the the first and wore a black short sleeved shirt, black pants, boots and brown colored chest plate of some sorts. He was also more tanned than the first man was. The woman was also tanned with blonde hair and warm brown eyes. She wore blue form fitting pants and a purple long sleeved shirt with same chest plate as the man.
The second man seemed to be in charge and began walking towards them.
He must be the one who is waiting for us Vlad thought as he looked at his wife and son. They were both strangely dressed in different clothes.
Mirena wore a soft white blouse with a black leather jacket and dark blue form fitting pants and pair of black slippers. He long blonde was still in the same braid she had put it in that morning.
Ingeras wore dark blue pant similar to the first man's and a red short sleeve shirt that had the design of a strange looking carriage and a hooded jacket.
Vlad found himself dressed similarly to the first man but instead of a leather jacket it, it was clothe and a red button up shirt.
"Are you Vlad Tepes?" The bigger man asked, his accent strange.
"Yes, I am." Vlad replied, protectively stepping forward.
"My name is Luke Hobbs, I am a friend of your daughter's...I'll be taking you to her." The man replied, causing a huge weight to lift from his shoulders, "If you and your family would follow me, we have a plane to catch and its a long flight to Los Angeles."
It was time to see his little girl again
