Well, on with the story!

The usefulness of a Sacred Gear

My Master and I have been together for over 2 years now. And like Master, I train every single day. But she still doesn't want me to call her Master. Even after a year together, she makes me call her Vali-san. I would be happy with calling her Vali-sama but she doesn't want me to do something like that.

Masters training is very...difficult but I want to become as strong as I can so I can be Masters tool. I want to become as strong as I can for Master and Master herself wants me to become stronger like she is. Master even has Balance Breaker. Its amazing how she can do things like that.

But there's some people who annoy me greatly. Like that idiot Kokabiel. I really hate him but there's nothing I can do about that. Master says I should just stay away from him. But I already know about his plans to one day betray Azazel-sama and I've told Master about them but she just told me to ignore it for now and if he does anything, she will stop him. Since Master knows what's best, I follow her word without hesitation. That's what a good slave does after all.

"Phew. Training is done for today, Ma-kun."

Masters pet name for me. She calls me Ma-kun as a pet name. My name from Master is Usagi Makoto. Its supposed to be some sort of joke. Usagi meaning rabbit in japanese and Makoto making sincerity. She's basically calling me the sincere rabbit. I don't know if Usagi is a last name but I will take it and love it dearly since its the name Master gave me. I had mixed feelings about it but I ultimately felt good about it.

"Hehehe, did I do a good job today Vali-san?"

"Yes, you did. Well done. Now come along."

I nodded and we exited the training room in the Grigori. That's where we live, the Grigori, and Vali-san is one of the top fighters in the Grigori. There are a few strong people here and by extension of Vali-san, I am also a member of the Grigori but I am loyal to Vali-san, not the Grigori. So if Vali-san left the Grigori then I would leave also. I don't have any feelings for the Grigori beyond what Vali-san thinks of it.

"Vali-san, since training is done for today, where are we going?"

"I'll tell you in our room."

Our room. Yes, the room Vali-san and I share. I didn't want to be apart from Master, even in sleep so she said that I can stay in her room. I thought she might've minded but she doesn't mind at all. In fact, Master was gracious enough to let me sleep on her bed as opposed to where I usually slept, the corner on the floor. But Vali-san is a very kind Master so...I am grateful she found me.

"Ok Vali-san."

Vali-san took my hand and we continued through this place. Master likes holding my hand. She's protective over me. I know she is because I can literally read her mind whenever I want to. I respect her privacy so I don't read her mind often. People who have a higher level of power than I can fight against me from entering their mind like Master for example. But they can't stop me from reading their minds unless they have the means to stop me. I only read her mind when Master doesn't talk to me which isn't often.

Its big and lots of different people are here. Fallen Angels mainly. But there's also humans with Sacred Gears. I even heard that there's a Longinus user among the humans here but I don't know who it is, but I hear that Vali-san has a bit of a rivalry with this person. Well, Master wont lose to the Longinus user and if she was, I would step in and help her.

"Aah, Vali, chibi Usagi."

That voice belonged to Azazel-sama. I really wish he wouldn't call me chibi Usagi. It isn't nice. Calling me the small rabbit. We stopped walking and Vali-san addressed Azazel-sama.

"Azazel, what do you want."

"How rude. I raise you and you speak to me like that? And here I thought I was being nice."

"I don't have time for games. State what you want."

"Hmph, I want to borrow chibi Usagi. I need his...talents."

My talents. He wants me to extract information from someone. Yes, its one of my mental abilities that comes from my apparent Sacred Gear that isn't so apparent anymore. I have a Sacred Gear that can affect the minds of my targets. It goes from simple mind reading to forcibly extracting information from the mind. Using that last skill takes a lot of power.

At first, Vali-san thought that it was a Longinus because it has different abilities and I thought the same, but Azazel-sama said that it isn't a Longinus because its all one ability. To see into the mind. That's the main ability of it. To either see it slightly by reading minds or see into it on a large scale. But that large scale is kind of dangerous for me to do and if I did it to someone stronger than I was...well, I don't want think what would happen.

Azazel-sama said that the Sacred Gear is a rare one and not many of its users exist in the world right now but it isn't unique like a Longinus. So...there should be other users out there I believe. And even if they are, I will Master my Sacred Gear and achieve Balance Breaker so I can become more useful to Master.

It doesn't have much combat potential on its own as I can't hurt anyone with it. Its a supportive Sacred Gear. But when I'm paired with Vali-san, I can give her the strategies of the enemies and tell her how to counter them. Or I could do it myself to know what my opponents are thinking and how to counter it myself, although its very hard to do those two things at once. I do have limits as I can't control people, I can just either go through the memories and look into the thoughts of someone. Things that aren't harmful to the mind. Its not like they are aware when I read their thoughts, but going through memories they will be aware of that.

The name of the Sacred Gear is called Psyche Penetration. And its a Sacred Gear that doesn't have a physical form. The only way you'd know I have it active is because there will be a slight glow in my eyes. So I suppose its an ocular Sacred Gear. And yes, I need to see the person I am trying to read the mind of and the other abilities, but I don't have to look into the persons eyes. I just need to have them in my line of sight.

Azazel-sama said I shouldn't use it so much on the bigger level as it might affect my mind in different ways. And I think she classed it as a defence/counter type of Sacred Gear. Since technically, I am using it to read my opponents mind as a defence, and using that knowledge to counter.

It took along time to get to the place I am now. At first, I could only read some thoughts, but now I can read thoughts quite easily. And as for the mind walking, that took quite along time to Master and even now I've not mastered it at all, I'm not even close to mastering it as it still takes lots of power. At first, I couldn't do it at all, but I persisted and eventually, I was able to do it, but the price for doing it is mental exhaustion.

"Hmmm, what's happened?"

"Oh, just a simple betrayal and I need chibi Usagi there to extract information from the person. Its easier than going through the usual lengthy stuff. So what do you say chibi Usagi?"

I looked to Vali-san. I don't do anything unless she tells me to do it.

"Ma-kun, go ahead."

"Yes Master...Vali-san."

"Meet me in our room later."

"Yes Vali-san."

Vali-san unlinked our hands and went to our room. I looked at Azazel-sama with an emotionless face. I don't like being away from Master.

"Ehehe, you've got that cold stare down."

"Lets just hurry."

"Anything for you, chibi Usagi."

I hate that name. Only Vali-san can call me chibi Usagi. No one else may refer to me as chibi Usagi. Azazel-sama then started walking off so I followed while looking at the floor.

When Master isn't here, I don't want to be here either. I only want to be with Master forever and ever not with this person. The only redeeming thing about this person is how he told me about my Sacred Gear. I don't know if that's the power Vali-san sensed but I will use it for her.

We walked and walked until Azazel-sama stops so I stop also. The reason we stopped is because that woman, Raynare-san has stopped us. That woman thinks about having sex with me constantly. If she tried, then I would take her out. Only Vali-san can touch my body in a sexual way.

"Raynare Ganja."

"Don't call me that Azazel-sama! I have a report from Ikuse."

"Oh, thank you Raynare Ganja. Please leave that on my desk."

"Yes Azazel-sama!"

The girl Raynare-san walked past Azazel-sama and stopped in front of me. I looked up at her with a cold stare.

"Ehehe, geez. You have really been hanging out with Vali for along time huh."

"I'm busy."

"I-I'm sure you are. Well, if you'll excuse me."

The Fallen Angel woman left the area and then we continued on. What a distraction I don't need. Master wanted to talk to me about something but I don't know what and now I'm stuck helping this person. But Master wants me to do it so I will do it.

We walk until we get to the interrogation room. According to Azazel-sama, this person has betrayed the Grigori and might've shared our secrets with the other factions. I heard that Azazel-sama doesn't like violence and prefers peace. So I guess that's something else to redeem him. He's also a pervert, a big one at that. His thoughts are usually drawn to sex and sex related things.

"In here. So chibi Usagi, do your thing."

"Don't call me chibi Usagi."

"Whatever you say chibi Usagi."

I growled and entered the room. Once I entered, I saw a man tied to a chair, looking at me in fear. He should be afraid of me.

"T-The Psyche Penetration user!"

"Yes. That's me. Now stay still while I extract the information Azazel-sama wants. Or I will use another way to extract the information, and you wont like it."

I threatened. He shook greatly and nodded. He knows that I will know what he knows soon. And he knows he can't fight against me as he has a weaker power than I do.

I activated my Sacred Gear and entered his mind after concentrating for a minute. Its very hard to do this but I don't mind doing this for Vali-san. She said that I should do this so I am doing this for her, no one else.

...It takes me several minutes to get the information from the target. Once I broke the connect, I fell to the floor and held my head. It hurts but I've had worse pain before.

"You alright?"

Azazel-sama came in and asked me. I nodded and stood up.

"I'm fine. He's made an alliance with a single Devil but other Devils aren't involved. Just one Devil."

I then told Azazel-sama the exact details of what I learned. After telling him, he nods at me.

"Well done. Your mastery of that Sacred Gear is getting better and better."

"But I still need minutes to mind walk and get the information."

"Well, that's how it is. Whether it be you or other users, it will always take time to do something so complex. And sometimes it wont work if they are considerably stronger than you are, plus there's always that backlash, so don't overuse that particular ability."

I looked at him and read his thoughts...dirty person.

"Vali-san and I aren't in a sexual relationship yet. No matter how many times I offer myself, Vali-san said she wont do it with me yet when she thinks about it quite a lot."

"Grr, stop reading my mind without permission."

"You could stop me if you so desired."

"W-Well, I wasn't ready for it!"

Wasn't ready for it. He's one of the people who knows how to stop it. There are several ways. You can stop it by blinding me, by knowing the inner mechanics of my Sacred Gear like he does, or just killing me. There are the ways I know on how to stop it. Although, killing me would be hard as I am protected by Vali-san, and she is training me on how to defend myself.

And that second one is most likely the easiest to do as you can think of something else. But it also can be the hardest, depending on who you are. You can think of something else while fighting but some people can't think of something else during battle but some can. Rare kind of people can think of other things when fighting. That's when they have knowledge on my Sacred Gear. The only person who has ever used that second method is Azazel-sama. He's the only one who knows how to do things like that.

"Either that or you secretly want me to know what you are thinking."

"Hmph, I don't!"

"If you say so. Can I go now?"

"Whatever chibi Usagi. Well done, you may leave."

Finally. I left the room without saying anything and went straight to our room. I don't like conversing with people that aren't Master.

I got back to Masters and my room and knocked on the door.

"Master, may I enter?"

[Come in. And don't call me Master.]

I entered the room to see Vali-san on the bed so I joined in and got in next to her. Its quite late. We train for most of the day, only to stop when its either time to consume food or to sleep like now.

"Vali-san, I did what you wanted for Azazel-sama."

"Good. Now, soundproof the room for me Ma-kun. I need to speak to you without anyone hearing."

"Yes Vali-san."

I got out of the bed and started making the spell for soundproofing the room. I have learned how to use magic so I can become more useful to Vali-san. My Sacred Gear can only go so far, so I learned how to use magic. I'm not an expert yet, but I know enough about it so I can create things like this.

Once I finished, I went back to Vali-san who is sat up on the bed. I sat down next to her.

"Does Vali-san want me to massage her shoulders?"

"If you would."

I got behind her and started massaging her shoulders as she spoke.

"Ma-kun, one day, we'll be leaving this place."

Oh, we are leaving one day. That's fine with me. Wherever I am with Vali-san, I will be happy.

"Ok. But why?"

"Because I am going to be forming a team soon and I can't do that to my full potential here."

A team...she's going to be forming a team? Why?

"May I ask why?"

"Because I am going to kill my father and grandfather. And you'll be joining that team."

"Yes Vali-san. As your loyal servant and apprentice, I will always follow you. But who are going to have on this team?"

I asked with a hint of worry. I don't want bad people on the team who will try and use Vali-san. Vali-san of course can pick strong people but I will do a mind walk on them to see if they are legit.

"I haven't decided yet. But there are a few people that have caught my interest. Like Kuroka, a Nekoshou. Have you heard of her?"

"Um...she's the one who killed her Master, isn't she? The one who is an SS Class criminal in the Underworld. Is that the person you are thinking about Vali-san?"

"Yes, her. I've heard she's vulgar, but she has interesting abilities that I want on my team."

"Is it because you don't want Sacred Gear users on your team so you can combat your grandfather? Doesn't he have that..."

She turned to me with a mad expression.

"What did I say about reading my mind without permission?"

"I'm sorry Vali-san. I didn't mean too. I was concerned, that's all. And when you said your grandfather, I was concerned that you wouldn't want me around because my usefulness is from my Sacred Gear."

She gains a soft expression and pats my head.

"That's why I'm training you to fight so you don't have to rely on your Sacred Gear. Yes, its a powerful ability to read the opponents mind, but I also want you to be a combatant, even if its only a combatant that supports me with your skills that don't include your Sacred Gear."

"Yes Vali-san! May I make a suggestion for your team?"

"You may, as you are the sub leader of the group."

"M-Me? Sub leader?"

I'm shocked. I didn't think Vali-san would trust me with such a position. The second in command of her team. Vali-san must have great trust in me.

"Hmph, of course. You're the person I trust the most out of everyone I know. And I'm not training you for nothing. So it makes sense to make you my second in command. Now, tell me your suggestion."

"Yes. You wanted someone strong, that doesn't have a Sacred Gear, correct?"

"Correct. Have someone in mind?"

I let a small smile grace my face as I answered.

"Well, yes. But I don't personally know the person. There's a rumour floating around the factions about the holy sword user who has the ultimate holy sword, Caliburn. I heard that person is using that holy sword and wants to find someone who can match that person in sword skills. I was thinking that if this person wants to find someone who can match them in sword skills, then they might want to join the...what are we called? The Vali team?"

"Yes, I suppose that's the name of the team. But that suggestion is a good one. Having the user of Caliburn on my team would be an asset. Already making yourself useful as my sub leader huh."

"I aim to please Master like always."

"I've told you countless times to stop calling me Master."

But she'll always be Master. I read her mind to see what she is thinking about...ooh, I see. Yes, Master has those thoughts a lot when I am massaging her.

"Does Master wish to partake in recreation sexual relations now?"

"N-No! Why do you keep asking me that when we do this!?"

"Because you always think about it when we are alone together. So I just want to please Master by making her feel good. And if that's in a sexual way then I am willing to do things like that."

She snarls at me with an angry face. Uu, I will just have to punish myself later.

"Stop reading my mind! Even if I am thinking that, there's no need to say it!"

"Then, I should keep it to myself?"

"Just don't read my mind when you are massaging my shoulders, or ever without my permission."

I get curious as to if Master is liking my treatment on her shoulders. She carries a lot of stress and I want to relieve that stress.

"Ok Vali-san. But don't forget, if you do want to release your urges on my body then you can do that."

"You seriously don't have any decency, do you?"

"I do. I just want Master to be happy. And if Master wants to do things like that then I want to help Master."

I said with a smile. I then secretly read her mind...ooh, hehe. I love you too Vali-san. Even if you wont say it to me, I know you love me like I love you Master, more than anything. And I am willing to do anything Master wants me to do, even kill her arch rival, her grandfather and father. I will go and kill them for her if she ordered me to do it. Or maybe so they don't cause her anymore pain. Or if she ordered me to kill the Sekiryuutei, the other rival of Vali-san, then I would, whoever that is.

"Does Master want to squeeze my butt now?"

"That's it! Out!"

"E-Eh? I'm sorry Vali-san! Please forgive me!"

She turns to me and outstretched her arms then moved her hands towards me.

She pinned me to the bed, hovers above me and looked into my eyes.

"Is Master going to have her way with my body now?"

"I'll tell you when I'm going to have my way with you. Until then, stop asking. That's an order."

So demanding. It feels good being told what to do by Master.

"Y-Yes Master...Vali-san."

She then stops pinning me to the bed and collapses next to me, and then brought my head to her chest! A servant getting such a privilege. Vali-san claps her hands which turns the lights off.

"Sleep now. Tomorrow, extra training for all the Masters you've said today."

"Yes Mas...Vali-san."

"Good. How's your head?"

"It kind of hurts from when I did that thing for Azazel-sama. But don't worry about me Vali-san."

She pats my head.

"Don't overuse your Sacred Gear. You aren't any use to me if you are comatose."

"Yes Vali-san. I understand. Goodnight."

"Night."

Soon after that, she closed her eyes and went to sleep. As for myself...I need to help Master build the ultimate team. Hmmmmm...I will find some strong members for you Vali-san, don't worry. That's what I am here for after all.

Well, I will leave it there. The Sacred Gear is a little creation of mine, incase some didn't get it. And it might seem powerful, but there are a few limitations. And I thought it would be the perfect Sacred Gear for this kind of Makoto. I will post Issei's harem list next chapter, but he's Makoto's harem list for now which anyone can vote for their favourite girl to be with Issei, or Makoto. Well, until next chapter!
