Abby sat at her desk looking through the documents that Donna had given her. She was really excited to be working for Pearson, Specter and Litt. She browsed through maintenance reports as she felt the presence of another person before looking up to see Harvey Specter, himself.
"Can I help you, sir?" she asked, her tone confident even though her knees were shaking under the desk.
Harvey's face broke into a confident smile, "Yes, you can by stopping what you're doing immediately."
Abby squinted her eyes in confusion, "May I ask why? I just found something interesting," she explained, turning the paper to face him.
Harvey couldn't resist looking as he pulled up a seat to see what she was pointing at, "What am I looking at?"
Abby smiled, proud to grab a named partner's attention on her first day, "They redid the brakes a year ago and then again 4 months ago which was right after the crash. Why would they waste money on something that is supposed to be yearly unless they had a reason to?"
Harvey picked up the folder to read it for himself, "How did we get these documents? I highly doubt they'd willingly hand this over."
Abby shrugged her shoulders, "I'm not sure, really. Donna just handed it to me and asked me to find something helpful."
Harvey flipped through the pages once more, "Well, we'll hold on to this as backup but let's see if we can find something we're 100% sure we can use tonight. I'll buy dinner and we'll work through the night. Pull out anything that we had before Donna gave that to you. Welcome to the team," he finished with a confident grin as he walked out of the library.
Abby hadn't expected to even meet Harvey that day much less have him offer to work with her through the night on a case that really didn't seem like the firm's type.
"Mike, where did we get that new information?" Harvey asked as he entered Mike's office on the way back into his own.
Mike shook his head, "Donna brought it back from lunch. I'm assuming we have no legal bases to use it. But, I think if we just show them that we have it they'll settle with no questions asked."
Harvey sighed, "We can't use a document that's not even admissible in court. I want you and Donna to try everything you can to subpoena more records while Abby and I look through what we already had."
Mike rolled his eyes, "I see you found a way to hang out with her. Remember, you can't date her because you made a really big deal about myself and Rachel," he said, remembering his first few years there.
It was Harvey's turn to roll his eyes, "You have to follow the rules. I make them. Report anything you get directly back to me. I'll be in the library all night, most likely."
Mike's jaw dropped at what Harvey said but he simply nodded in response.
