-Unknown location, U.S.A.-

"Sir, I think you should take a look at the latest picture the Hubble got."

The man took the envelope, and viewed the images carefully.

"Is that some sort of a joke?"

"No, sir, this is real, a Spaceship is on the way here."

"Inform the pentagon, and the white house immediately."

With the subordinate leaving to do as ordered, with a call of "Yes, sir", the man looked at the image of a strangely attired woman with duel colored hair, the 'Subject Unknown' who was responsible for the destruction of their cyborg special team, the agent wondered aloud.

"Were you the scout for this ship? Is that the Invading army that came in after you?"

"Birdy, you've been quite all day, you didn't even comment when I asked you to help me with math homework. What's on your mind?"

We both know that you don't want me to help you with it. Remember the last time- you got it all wrong in the end. Strange base 10 math… Really…

Somehow, the response lacked the flare he has come to expect from her.

"Does whatever it is that you read in that file still bother you?"

I think it's about time I paid a visit to an informant of mine…

"Do you mean that Irma-san woman?"

Birdy didn't answer him, changing their body into her form, and sneaking out of his room through the window.

As she hopped over roofs with her inhuman physical abilities, she remained quiet, dropping to ground at some point, and proceeding on foot.

Birdy dragged them to some hovel of an apartment, where she knocked on the door.

The familiar old face of the woman who worked in the Altan Network greeted the Federation Police agent.

"How can I help you, Birdy?"

"We need to talk. Inside."

The elder woman opened the door a bit more, and moved aside, so that Birdy could enter, closing fast after she did so.

"Irma, I need you to check all the databases you can reach without rousing attention, and gather as much information as you can about Ixiorans?"

"I-Ixiorans?" Irma asked, paling at the word. "You suspect they actually have Ixiorans with them?"

"Just try to find as much as you can, and remember, be discreet-I suspect them to have spies in the Federation Police, they just might send the Ixioran after you if they discover you. In fact, it may be better if I come and visit you myself in three days to check on your progress."

"Are there any more surprises you have in store for me? Is the alliance about to appear in Orbit to invade and assimilate this planet? Will Dreadnaughts appear in the skies tomorrow?" the frustrated old woman wondered.

"I t-think not…"

"Was there anything else you wanted?"

"Just to ask if you had any new leads…and make sure my old place is still available, I may need it soon."

"Nothing new, sorry."

Soon afterwards, Birdy said her goodbye and left.

Birdy… what was all that about? W…What's an Ixioran?

"Something I CLEARLY don't know enough about. Certainly not as much as I thought I did."

Okay…And why are we going that way?

"I need to sit and think a bit, there is a park we will soon reach."

"A Federation agent? Are you sure?"

"Yes, our observer was annihilated by it, but not before notifying us."

"Leave us."

As you command."

"So… It has begun…"

Author Notes: Another chapter, this one shorter than usual.

Ixioran is a word used in the later parts of the manga Birdy the Mighty II, and the Decode 2 anime, if you find yourself unfamiliar with it.

Please review, and if you are up to it, try to write a Birdy The Mighty fic yourselves.
