Harry changed into some dry clothes, tired yet happy after his long practice. He knew Quidditch would be a good way to relax, it always was. Unfortunately, practice had to come to an end at some point, and as soon as it did.....Ron! Harry sat down on his bed and opened his potions book to the page he was fairly certain Snape had assigned them but he soon found he could not concentrate on anything written on the pages. No, his mind wandered and he found himself staring at Ron's empty bed. His mind then wandered to his dream, yet again, for what seemed to be the millionth time that day.
Images of Ron's bare chest flashed into his mind and Harry closed his eyes in a silly attempt to try to block the sight. He and Ron had been friends for years, they'd roomed together all that time, he'd certainly seen Ron change in front of him, and it was never a big deal. Why would it be? Why should it be now? The dream, that's why. He must be sleep deprived, or losing his mind. That must be it. That could be the only logical explanation as to why he was suddenly thinking of Ron as....well, Harry didn't know what, but certainly far more than a best friend and room mate, that was certain. Did he have a crush on him? No, of course not, they were very good friends, that was all.
"It was one silly dream, Harry." he told himself as he got to his feet and crossed to the nearest window and opened it, letting the cool, damp air into the room. "Don't let one silly little dream scare you."
"What kind of dream was it?" Ron asked as he entered the room. "You didn't dream of "You know who", did you?" his eyes grew large in fear at the very thought.
"What?" Harry turned around suddenly, his feet slipping on the slick floor below him. How did he not notice the rain had come in like that?
"You alright?" Ron asked with a laugh as he stooped to help his friend off the floor. "What ever the dream was, it must have given you quite a fright, you've been a bit off all day." he said as he closed the window.
"No, it wasn't him." Harry said as he hurried to his bed, afraid of being too close to Ron for too long.
"Then what was it?" Ron asked, coming to sit next to him.
"It was nothing." Harry said, smiling awkwardly. "Just a dream."
"Obviously it wasn't." Ron sighed. "Why do you have to be like that?"
"Like what?" he asked defensively.
"When something freaks you out, you just act weird and pretend nothing happened." Ron replied. "If it wasn't him, what did you dream about that's got you all upset like this?"
"Nothing." Harry said as he got up quickly and went to the other side of his bed and began to pull the covers back, hoping it would signal the end of their conversation.
"Was it about a girl?" Ron asked with a devilish smile as he got up and went to his own bed.
"Uh, well...." Harry fumbled.
"Okay then, now we're getting somewhere." Ron laughed. "Who was it?" he asked. "Cho?"
"No." Harry said as he settled himself under the blankets.
"Yeah, you probably wouldn't be acting so weird if it were her." Ron nodded. "Must be someone you wouldn't normally think of....." he thought for a moment. "I got it!" he exclaimed, snapping his fingers. "Hermione!"
"Hermione?" Harry asked, rather confused. Why would he dream of Hermione.....then again, why would he dream of Ron. "Yeah, but, Ron, please don't say anything. It was just one weird dream, I wanna forget about it."
"Don't worry, Harry, my lips are sealed." Ron said as he crawled under his own blankets. "It's odd, isn't it? When you just suddenly dream of someone you see everday like that."
"Odd doesn't begin to describe it." Harry replied softly as he pretended to drift off to sleep quickly.
