Chapter 2: Mistakes are Keys to Success

As both girls walked out of the lab together, they see Harmony fighting a Pidgey.

"Chespin, use tackle!", Harmony yelled. Chespin started running to use tackle but the Pidgey flew up into the air before it could hit. Harmony stomped one foot onto the ground on frustration. Both Gwen and Luna ran up to where Harmony was.

"Hey Harmony, what's the matter?", Gwen asked. "I don't need your pity.", Harmony said with her arms crossed.

"I was just trying to help!", Gwen retorted rolling her eyes. "Here what about we settle this? With a battle!", Harmony said challengingly with her Chespin standing in front of her already.

Gwen shrugged while saying," Why not?"

She unlatched the Pokeball from her necklace and released Seraphina.

'Fennekin!', the fox like Pokemon cried out her name when she got released out of Pokeball.

"Alright, Chespy use vine whip!", Harmony commanded. Green vines started growing rapidly from Chespin.

Gwen's eyes widened then she smiled before commanding her Pokemon as well.

"Fennekin use your speed to dodge then ember!", Gwen yelled.

"Not on my watch! Chespy dodge that ember!", Harmony yelled out. But Chespin was too slow to move out of the way. Chespin got hit badly, since it was super effective.

"Chespin can you get up?", you could hear the real concern in Harmony's voice. The green spiked Pokemon nodded it's head and slowly got up looking fatigued.

"Alright! Tackle!", Harmony said looking pumped.

Gwen's eyes widened she couldn't do anything due to it coming so fast.

'Fennekin!', the fox Pokemon yelled out in pain.

"Seraphina!", Gwen yelled with concern looking at her partner Pokemon.

Seraphina lay on the ground struggling to get up, the force of tackle was pretty hard plus the level of the Chespin was higher than Fennekin's.

Luna looked at her best friend sadly.

Seraphina then collapsed out of exhaustion.

Luna looked at her best friend with guilt and then said," The winner of this battle is Harmony from Vaniville Town."

Gwen collapsed onto her knees in front of her Pokemon then she gently picked Seraphina up. Gwen looked up where Harmony was, Harmony was wearing a triumphant smile.

Gwen looked at her Pokemon and ran towards the nearest Pokemon center. Leaving both, Luna and Harmony.

Gwen burst through the doors of the Pokemon center.

"Nurse Joy!", Gwen yelled her eyes edging with tears.

The pink haired woman turned around and once she laid eyes on the Pokemon in Gwen's arms her eyes widened and she gasped.

"Can you heal my Pokemon?", Gwen asked trembling slightly.

Nurse Joy quietly nodded and grabbed the Pokemon and walked through the sliding doors towards the rooms where she heals them.

Gwen plopped down onto a couch in the waiting room. Until Luna came running into the center.

"Is Seraphina okay?", Luna asked.

All Gwen did was shrug and looked down.

Luna looked at Gwen sadly and she put a hand on her shoulder. "It's o-", she started but was cut off by Gwen.

"It's not okay! I had the upper hand but she still beat me! How can I even enter contests if I can't even beat a Pokemon that my Pokemon is effective against!", Gwen yelled.

"But she was higher leveled than you...", Luna said.

"Yeah? By like one level!", Luna yelled once again.

Nurse Joy walked out of the back rooms. "What is with all the ruckus?", she asked fists on her hips.

Both trainers looked down and said," Nothing." Nurse Joy nodded and looked at both of them in concern but said nothing and went back to the back rooms.

"Look. Remember when our parents would say, Learn from your mistakes?", Luna said.

Gwen nodded. "Listen to them Gwen, this is why they say it. So we would listen.", Luna explained.

"I guess you are right. I can always keep training!", Gwen said feeling more happier.

"Gwen! Your Fennekin is better!", Nurse Joy called out towards Gwen.

"Seraphina!", Gwen said her eyes glazing with tears of happiness.

The Pokemon jumped right into Gwen's arms. "Your Pokemon really likes you, you must be a great trainer.", Nurse Joy commented.

Gwen blushed, and smiled at Nurse Joy before saying," Thank you!"

As they were walking out Luna said," There is a contest in the next town over.", she told Gwen. Gwen brightened up, if that was even possible anymore.

She ran out of the center screaming over her shoulder," I guess I better be training!"

Luna shook her head and chuckled and ran out trying to catch up with Gwen.

Once both of the girls were out of the center they ran towards a big field right next to the town. "This is a perfect place to train!", Gwen said looking around and taking in all of the scenery. Luna nodded in satisfaction and agreement. "Alright come on out Seraphina!", Gwen said as she released Seraphina.

Once Seraphina was out of her Pokeball she started running around the whole entire field. Gwen ran with Seraphina enjoying playing with her Pokemon.

"Hey! Luna why don't you release your Froakie? It can meet my Fennekin." Luna nodded and unhooked the Pokeball from her belt. The blue frog like Pokemon smiled towards their trainer. "Hey there Ren.", Luna said patting Ren's head. 'Froakie', the Pokemon said happily.

Whilst Luna was bonding with her Pokemon, she was exploring the place they were out with her Fennekin walking right next to her. Then her Pokemon and herself jumped in fright as they heard the bushes rustle.
