Enough is a Relative Word


He is starring outside the window, when the book lands with a heavy thump on his desk. Alma, sitting in front of him, sighs with exasperation. "From here," she whispers, long finger tapping a paragraph near the top.

"Thank you," he whispers back, with a slow smile that sends her blushing.

He is in the fifth grade and today they are reading Oliver Twist.

His expression, as he starts reading aloud, is contemptuous, and it is with dark irony that he says the words, "Please sir, I want some more".
